2024 Las Vegas Summer Series - non-WSOP
Anyone have a clue when some schedules are going to drop?

Yeah I am taking two trips. Living in the Phoenix area I have the luxury of driving to Vegas. For the time it would take for me to drive to the airport early enough to wait for my flight I would be a third of the way to Vegas in my car. Plus I can pack whatever I need in my car. Fun times for an old codger.
Orleans seems to have some nice tournaments, how far is the walking distance from the Horseshoe? Or what would be the best way to get there?
This is for all practical purposes an impossible walk. It has to be over 2 miles. Take a cab/Uber.
Yeah, that would be absolutely horrendous. The walk from Horseshoe to Rio sucks in summer, then add another mile+ to it through relatively dodgy/dicey zones.
I have done it once, many years ago. Huge mistake. You could literally die from the heat and dehydration.
Ha, for real? Seems the world gets a little softer every year.
Die is largely a bit of an exaggeration, but walking outside for an hour+ in 120 degree heat index is definitely not something anyone in a medical profession would recommend and could definitely lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
It’s a total of about 2.5 mi. A relatively fit person could do it in less than an hour, but outside of a personal challenge, or morbid curiosity, I’m not sure why anyone would.
You are thinking because U are a walking enthusiast ? Do it on your off day from tournaments. If you are thinking of walking and save $10-20 you are out of your mind .
Ok seems fair, in the map it looked like a reasonable walk but will take an Uber for sure. Thanks
I go to the Orleans all the time to play their tournaments during The Series. From the top of the strip (near the Sahara) to Orleans is reliably $10 to $11 with Uber. From the centre of the strip, ie Caesars/Harrahs/Bellagio to The Orleans seems to vary in price rather more, and ranges from $10 to $13. Either way, it’s a fairly cheap ride at most times of the day.
I also walk a lot in LV, but I stick to the strip. I stay opposite the Sahara and walk down as far as MGM regularly. But I wouldn’t dream of walking to the Orleans at any time of day or night. Too far, too dangerous
I'm not saying anyone SHOULD necessarily do it, but the thought that one would die of heat stroke on the way seemed a bit over the top.
That’s a walk you would only want to do in certain months. Like March, April or September, October (if weather is seasonal for that time) I think during Covid maybe last year it was at Rio I was staying at Palms and would walk up to play my non WSOP events at Wynn, Venetian or Aria, and it’s a great fresh air healthy walk early in the AM to get some fresh air, exercise and clear your head, which is some good medicine for poker and a huge help for me.
Call me crazy, call me stubborn, but I'm definitely going to do some From-Orleans-to-Strip type of walks during the WSOP. I think it'll be fine before 11 AM or so. I'm in good health, and a dollar saved is a dollar earned. But I agree it would probably be a bad idea on a sunny afternoon in June/July.
I used to do that when I stayed on Maryland Parkway and played at the Golden Nugget (about an hour walk).
I would leave late morning when the temperature was usually a bit below 35 (centigrade). I would dunk my head and my cap in cold water just before leaving.
The first 30 minutes of the walk were fine as the evaporation kept my head cool.
So, it was just another 30 minutes in sunny 34 or 35 temperature - no problem.
With all do respect. I am an old fart but will be hiking GrandTeton, Yellowstone, Glacier National Parkks after the WSOP this year. It's all well and good early morning temperature wise BUT I will take my chances with Grizzly bears going after snacks in my backpack LONG before I would walk that last mile with a belly bag of Money. This isn't the LV of 20 years ago. Walking the strip is fine you can basically ignore the semi aggressive panhandlers but once you are off the beaten path you are just asking for trouble and walking back at Night is crazy.
I wonder if carrying a pic-a-nic basket on your person would subdue any of the Vegas riffraff you might encounter.
LOL only if I packed my 9mm and bear spray in it.
akashenk with some very funny replies recently 😆 😆 👍
I'd worry more about getting run over or raped than dying of heat. You would be in lots of bad spots on that walk.
I see DraftKings is posting odds on either of those things happening to you:
- before dying of heat: +350
- after dying of heat: -130
Golden Nugget is out:
Finally!!!!!
The schedule has a series of events where there is a ‘5 seat promo giveaway’. In some cases the promo is for 25 seats (+). I can’t figure out what this promo is at all. Can anybody explain plz?
I’m not sure. I thought they were seats to the $1,000,000 guarantee that would be given along with the prize pool but they are giving “promo seats” away during the $1,000,000 guarantee so that’s not it.
I have no idea what they are.
Indeed, that’s exactly how I reasoned. I assumed that it would carry forward to the final event, but that is also some sort of qualifier……
I messaged GNLV on twitter but they didn’t respond…..
