Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Was any of this Islamist violence against civilians justified (all in the last week)? Of course not. But no one cares about this kind of stuff unless it gives them a pretense to call Jews Nazis. So here we are.

Is it antisemitism that makes more people care about this war and disregard the others? Or is it the 24/7-360° news feed? Do you have any idea why coca cola and mcdonalds still run commercials daily? Of course you don't or you wouldn't come up with this garbage take every few days like clock work

How about you take some time off hating the browns and use it to learn some marketing

Palestinian resistance is not at all similar to those Islamist groups. they are fighting an occupation and include secular elements. ironically, the ISIS type groups are funded by the West and have been for 100s of years.

absolutely, obviously, it is antisemitism that make the victors of the world care more about the insignificant amount of lives lost in Gaza than the exceptionally, objectively worse things happening elsewhere all the time.

Everytime you decide to talk about X instead of Y you are affirming a moral preference about talking of X. You are affirming Y is less worth of your time and effort.

And radical leftists want us to know they are truly, deeply, incurably antisemites.

Which shouldn't surprise anyone. Jews are at the top of many capitalist sectors in the USA, if you hate capitalism you almost automatically become antisemite (and viceversa).

War sucks. That is why it is important to deal with Islamist maniacs like Hamas and ISIS, to minimize the number of wars they cause and amount of civilians they target, so we dont have to have conversations like this.

It is actually pretty wild how much intentional slaughter of civilians takes place daily by Islamists, and how agnostic we all are over it.

Children dying from things that would be prevented by clean water, modest development, and education absolutely dwarfs these things. War, of course contributes, but lots of this can be addressed without solving wars. It's at least 15000 children every day.

Killing 18-25k civilians to kill 6-14k hamas enemy combatants isn't genocide according to any definition of genocide.

Genocide doesn't mean "killing a lot of people". It requires the *intent* of eradicating a nation, a group of people.

How do you judge intent? by judging what your capabilities are, and what you achieve. If i want to prove intent to genocide the palestinians , and they could kill a ton more of them easier, and they don't, that

Cite on where you got that definition of genocide From

Good point. Who cares what it’s called when the above is going on

His bit about Jews and money reminds me of how he mentioned he knows real antisemites (on the right), which is not at all surprising.

You would think if Qassam were as ruthless and murderous as people say that they would be blasting the medivac helos too.

Very interesting recent history of Hamas:

In 2021, following a 10 day successful rocket blitzkrieg into Israel which was rewarded by the international community including Biden by promises of billions of dollars to stop, Hamas actually held a conference on what to do with Israel after it was conquered, "Promise of the Hereafter: Post-Liberation Palestine," which Hamas assumed would happen shortly.

To show how serious they were, they actually researched and found Palestinian descendants of residents who were displaced by the Nakbar, to offer them land.

As far as what to do with the surviving Jews, they determined to follow Islamic law. The fighters would be liquidated and most peaceful Jews could stay as dhimni or leave as they chose. Interestingly, they decided that certain classes of Jewish professionals, (engineers, doctors, etc.) would effectivley be made slaves and not allowed to leave, to prevent a brain drain.

Hamas doesn't make and pretense about who they are or what they believe. It is very explicit. There will be no 2 state solution and no peace. As far as they are concerned, Israel is stolen Islamic land and they have a religious mandate to reconquer it, and the Jews be punished for their transgressions according to Islamic law.

War sucks. People die. That is why it is so important to defeat Hamas, and all the other Islamists, to stop the terror they unleash on the world.

just like you defeated the PLO and the PFLP.

what you cant understand is that it has nothing to do with Islam.

So you are telling me that the "Islamic Resistance Movement" (Hamas), "Palestinian Islamic Jihad" (PIJ), the "Party of Allah" (Hezbollah), "Supporters of Allah" (Houthis), and the "Islamic Republic of Iran," are all attacking Israel for reasons that have nothing to do with Islam.

Sounds legit.

The kids are taught that, God willing, some stuff will happen.

It's not only the Son of Hamas Goat. I'd be interested in hearing from other apostates. Apostasy apparently off the hizzy in Islam. yhtsi

It is quite possible the restraint shown by Israel, and the West rewarding Hamas with billions following its 2021 rocket attacks at Israel, actually led to the current tragedy. In tribal honor societies that follow the axiom "Might makes right," in dealing with Western liberal democracies it can be easy to confuse restraint for weakness and lack of resolve.

In his autobiography Saddam admitted he made this error with his Kuwait attack. Following Western support of his Iran invasion, including his liberal use of chemical warfare against civilians; he legitimately did not think the US/West had he will or ability to respond forcefully against the Kuwait invasion.
