Omaha Journey to High Stakes
Hi,
I had previously created a pb&c thread, but since I achieved most of my short and mid term goals I figured a new one was in order.
I have played Omaha for roughly 1.5 years.
Currently in an Omaha stable playing 1/2 PLO online.
Gym, school, poker is my life right now 😀
I want to grind up to high stakes PLO and play against some of the toughest competition.
After I grind a roll with the stable I want to transition primarily to live PLO and maybe also travel for good PLO games.
Primarily things I want to work on are eating more healthy, and not losing confidence in my plays when I am losing.

To be fair, this is kind of ignorant/in bad faith. Let's say GTO folds 60% to BTN raise in the BB, if villain RFI's 80% on the BTN you are burning money but folding 60% of range to him, and that's before you take into account him making postflop mistakes. In reality you should only be folding 40% of range to combat his wide opening range. Taking into account postflop edge you can probably fold even less.
500s is maybe 5-10x the variance than 200s..
it is 2.5x bigger, players are more aggro, and your edge is smaller.
being used the swings of 200s and below.. 500s and up can swing your roll past your breaking point real quick. especially if you push your edges.
you need at least 100-200 buy ins to safely push all of your edges to the max, especially vs whales on a heater.
if you are not embracing variance as if it is your best friend, (the only reason bad players will play you for real money) than the variance will **** you up.
there is a wisdom in not taking every opportunity.
your mental health is an extremely valuable resource - like tires on a race car. you need to fully stop and make sure everything is fresh and tip top (while worse racers zoom by).
you are just a simple human with many needs and weaknesses, like all of us.
treat yourself right, from the inside out, and the world will eventually follow.

Meditating today - best solution moving forward is fill screen with tables of 50-100, and dig myself out of this hole. Have paid so much money through backing over the years, really don’t want to go down that path again.
It really just doesn’t end lol, could lose to the j866 guy and be in a really good spot in this thing. Hopefully this luck reverses and we just ship everything for a month.

If he got banned, and made new accounts to get back on I’d consider that slimy as ****. You aren’t qualified to call me good or bad, or make speculation on why I’m winning or losing. You’re only qualified to plug a node into vision and press the button it tells you to.

Anyways gonna take a week long break from 2p2 I really do enjoy updating this blog overall, but have non poker related stuff that’s really affecting my mental health rn and don’t need the additional stress. See y’all in a week.
How come you dont go to Ontario for a bit? It's kinda outrageous to live a few hours from having access to the softest games in the world and be struggling at midstakes. You are quite young iirc right? I think a lot of people in poker end up regretting that they didn't take huge +ev spots early in their career. There is a lot of low hanging fruit in PLO, and especially in north america.
You obviously need to take some time off and not think about poker.
Sometimes when we run bad we also get more paranoid, sure there is some cheating sometimes, but its not like it affects your results like it has.
It seems like everytime you lose, you find an excuse that its either bad run or cheating.
I guarantee, with a mindset like you have right now, no way you play your A-game.
Just my 2 cents about sites.
Party - Couple guys i know crush 400-1k games, before that crushed 200 too.
There is even a guy who posted his last years party 200 zoom graph in PB&G, was up 100k EV pre rb.
ipoker - Have 2 friends who have 15bb wr at 200 over 200k+ hands.
Unibet - Played myself, very soft games, its fine, never felt like was cheated.
GG - Yes we know there is cheating, in my games thankfully did not feel anything shady.
Just the games are really bad and high rake, i tried for a week and did not see a single big fish like i see in other smaller sites.
Grass always seems greener elsewhere when you are in downswing, glgl.

Yeah I think this is going to be the play soon! Talking to gf we are just trying to figure out some things with her work stuff and our school stuff.

Yeah, a break felt so rejuvenating. Wish I could have had this foresight a little earlier, but it is what it is.
Back in the streets, no revelation or anything unfortunately. Just a much needed break. Have never taken a break from poker tbh since 2021 ig. Tons of accumulated tilt.
Was studying throughout the week, so however much of a break it was I guess is up for debate. But I feel better now, and good to know this is a thing I need to do every now and then.

Finally I was getting bored without you
Back with pokerninjas for now. Have a bunch saved up for school tuition and life expenses but didn’t want to deal with more stress. Big part of this deal is introducing 5c and 6c into my game selection. Which hopefully will pay off big down the line given the trend towards more cards in PLO.
have you read Tendler's "Mental Game of Poker"? It's a great work.
yes adding an extra card or two will definetly help when you cant even beat 4! youre very smart
