Gun control

Gun control

I think that the Gun control thread got lost when the old politics thread got moved.

1 The rest of the world looks at the US policy with slack jawed astonishment.
2. “Guns don’t kill people , people do” is identical to “Nuclear weapons don’t kill people, people do”
3. Using the idea that carrying guns can prevent the government oppressing you seems to ignore the fact that the US government controls the most effective killing machine in history

The majority of states of constitutional carry policies. We have like 200 million guns in the country. It’s about time we incentivized education and put a stop to gun violence

Education solves problems. People didn’t like birth control when it first came out, but education changes things

An interesting view point .
Gun violences are committed by uneducated people .

My point is that due to the current abundance of guns in our country+ 2a+ Hollywood and American need for a warlike public to fight our wars, I think education and training will greatly reduce gun violence.

Do you also support some of the nordic's approach at keeping guns and ammo seperate and locked up or just the training part for americans?

why carrot when its cheaper and more effective to stick.

None of that irresponsible pussy **** for me. But I think incentivizing people to keep their ammo and guns separated is much safer than my idea.

because he loves guns pow pow.

The left needs to be able to defend itself from right wing threats such as violent overthrow of govt, the KKK, etc

i'm sure your government issued firearm will be up to the task.

come to think of it, once the government issues everyone a firearm, it seems like the 2A is covered and they could simple ban all private sales.

careful what you wish for.

It is extremely likely that the price of guns would skyrocket if the govt was giving away guns for “free” to everyone and the people who could afford nicer guns aren’t the people we should worry about having guns (for the most part). Whenever the govt gets involved in an industry to make access to that industry more affordable the prices always increases much faster than general inflation: examples: healthcare, college education and housing.

yeah, true, people who can afford nice stuff never commit crimes.

how ****ing stupid are you anyway?

Healthcare costs went down and preexisting conditions are now covered by insurances. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Too easy to disprove your dumb claims.

Comparing govt giving away an object, a gun, to the services of healthcare and higher education is ridiculous.

It was necessary for the argument. For many people the gun is Part of their healthcare and higher education

Even more reason for strict gun control.

Is that as well as the SUVs and the blowjobs? Where is the government magicking up the money for all this largesse, especially after giving every Palestinian a million dollars and paying for cops to follow around criminals all day instead of making them pay bail? Money really does grow on trees in Pwtopia, huh?

woah woah woah, i now get an SUV along with my government issued blowjob?

before i thought this was a terrible policy but now I'm beginning to see the light

I never said rich people don’t commit crimes. I pointed out that rich people tend to shoot and kill people less than poor people.

I’m sure there are a few years where healthcare inflation doesn’t beat other inflation, but long-term it isn’t close.

It wasn’t my idea to suggest the govt should give away guns, healthcare or higher edu. I think they are all bad policies - with guns obviously being by far the worst.

My only point was that when the govt makes something “free” it becomes a lot more expensive.

wrong again. you really try to make yourself look stupid don't you?

the vast majority are suicides, followed by, wait for it....domestic violence.

these don't seem like poor-people categories to me...but what do i know.

Suicide is part of personal healthcare and is an American right.

Give me liberty or give me death

.

Surely the humongous number of poor people over the small number of rich people have nothing to do with this…

Most poor people can’t afford guns lol. The rich? They own whatever they want

Friendly fire casualties will be hard for any parent to stomach.

Probably should arm them with subsonic 300 blackouts instead

I can’t believe I wasted a few minutes looking up the obvious fact that poor people tend to kill at a higher rate than rich people - this is common sense.

Pointless, I noticed you responded in this thread but not to me pointing out that you were wrong when you claimed healthcare costs not increasing at a higher rate than general inflation. Any thoughts on that? Do you agree now that every time the govt tries to make something more affordable it drives up the price?

Poor people kill themselves more than rich people. Suicides are like 35% of gun deaths

Also you posted links for gun deaths and homicides. Not for gun violence

Baham , you believe the % of rich people is what in the US ?
35-50% of the population ?
I don’t think anyone not being a millionaire should be called rich (9%) .
Maybe you shouldn’t have use the word rich in your affirmation ?

Anyway , it isn’t a surprise poverty is the source of many problems in society , violence being of one them .
But since you believe poor people shouldn’t be help at all by the government with money, handouts, public education or universal healthcare , why do u even bring this up?

Actually u should be happy , it reduce unproductive people from society when they kill each other with guns right ?

by PointlessWords P

Guns cant and obv wont be banned in the us in your lifetime so you dont have to worry about that. But lefties are probably armed at a ratio of 500-1 so i wouldnt spend too much of your govt allowance buying gun cleaning equipment to clean your loaded guns for the upcoming battles
