Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
We are all responsible for trying to be better in here. We can create less work for the volunteer mods by just acting like better people.

except trolly apparently. and yourself.

Maybe for a while but even that is being really quite hopeful. Particularly as the enemies are not just hamas while the radicalisation is far more widespread. Add losing so much international support and the only part of this that makes any sense is that netanyahu has no better option for himself than war. It's extremely dangerous that that will remain true.

Israel already has a lot of enemies and hamas and
their coherts have for quite a while wanted to and have attempted to wipe them off the map. The hate meter is already maxed out for a lot of them. My assumption is that israel just wants to hamstring where they can.

I also dont think israel us losing very much international suppprt, at least militarily, if they have a credible threat to losing it all.

We're going to strongly dissagree if you think this isn't strongly boosting radicalisation. Support for extremist action/groups will increase and voices of moderation will be subdued.

Ditto on international support. So many warning signs and eventually it matters. I could link so much but here's what google found first and may serve as an indication of the scale oif the problem.

New data shared with TIME from the business intelligence company Morning Consult shows that support for Israel around the world has dropped significantly since the war in Gaza began.

Net favorability—the percentage of people viewing Israel positively after subtracting the percentage viewing it negatively—dropped globally by an average of 18.5 percentage points between September and December, decreasing in 42 out of the 43 countries polled.

China, South Africa, Brazil, and several other countries in Latin America all went from viewing Israel positively to negatively. And many rich countries that already had net negative views of Israel—including Japan, South Korea, and the U.K.—saw steep declines. Net favorability in Japan went from -39.9 to -62.0; in South Korea from-5.5 to -47.8; and in the U.K. from -17.1 to -29.8.

clearly, this^

its called exponential growth.

There is a gap between thinking negatively of what israel is doing and aiding an attack on israel.

Changes in how the UN calculates Gaza’s casualties have been cited as evidence of bias. They aren’t."

There's a lot of people with a wide range of attitudes. For some the gap is very bridgable and such a big shift against israel means a lot more extremists and a lot more people sympathetic to those extremists.

I believe this is the kind of posting Crossnerds is trying to avoid in here Victor. Let's try to keep on the right track.

I'd let her speak for herself instead of making these high school prefect posts.

Palestinians should be more reasonable. Attack a people non stop for 80 years and tell them you are going to wipe them off the Earth, and they are going to become radicalized against you.

You appear not to have noticed that this is precisely what Israelis have done to Palestinians, and that this is why Palestinians are radicalised against them.

That’s not how blowback works. Especially not in the Middle East. The US knows this well. I know it well. You should know it well

Israel doesn’t know it and hopefully never does.

This is the main reason the US wants Israeli outta Rafa; it’s too likely a jihad is waged in response. Jihad. In the Middle East. Against European Jews. It’s the crusades all over again. Jerusalem is even “at stake” for both sides

Well i would certainly disagree that its the usas main reason wanting israel out of rafah. Youre free to make the case that the epic long game is brewing - as well as the military might to do it but im currently not seeing anything on the horizon - as well as ehat history has shown.

Ok not main reason but it is one of their main reasons. We don’t want to rile up the Middle East and then have to come bailout Israel when we are really trying to focus on reintegrating Iran into western society

I am reading between the tea leaves some here.

No you're not - you're reading between the lines or you're reading the tea leaves.

You're both right.

theres so many videos of resistance attacks today. Hamas looks as strong as ever.

running out in front of 6 tanks. this is like a movie.

not graphic really but just in case!

Bro why are the tanks not surrounded by infantry lmao
If I didn’t care about Palestinians I woulda gone over and helped. Clearly they need it. And they pay well

actually, couldnt believe that single Israeli soldier guy was alongside the tank in this vid. literally the first time I had seen that.

its well known that their doctrine does not allow infrantry coordination with tanks.

I mean, they still havent figured out not to stand right in front of windows

GAZA is a concentration camp

Can you be at war with a concentration camp??

by washoe P

concentration camp

noun
A camp where persons are confined, usually without hearings and typically under harsh conditions, often as a result of their membership in a group the government has identified as suspect.
A place or situation characterized by extremely harsh conditions.
A camp where large numbers of persons—such as political prisoners, prisoners of war, refugees—are detained for the purpose of concentrating them in one place

Yes Hamas should resign to end the camp

by metsandfinsfan P

It's been debunked over and over

Israel brought in incubators and helped get babies who needed incubators out of gaza and into working hospitals

No, nothing has been debunked.

How many babies were evacuated??

by metsandfinsfan P

Yes Hamas should resign to end the camp

if this was an actual offer, I bet they would. problem is that Israel be lying.
