Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Their best strategy is picking a marginal claim that doesn't make an argument out of an argument and only contest that because they feel it's the weakest claim, even if it's irrelevant for the argument.

They do this all the times

It’s an interesting strategy.

In particular, when I mentioned my father is from England and I still have family and friends there. Instantly responded with “nice use of Google lol” (something like that) bc that’s his approach (everyone he disagrees with is a liar).

It’d be comical if it wasn’t so sad.

One guy who has never set foot in a Kibbutz calls them military installations.

One guy keeps going on about the rape denial.

One guy is like "your friends aren't real"

Can you guys see how much bad faith this all represents, and how totally unnecessary it is? You have a group of people who largely (a few exceptions) agree this war could/should have been executed differently (but needed to be executed once it was brought to Israel). The same g

Palestine is not a state so there is no actual war to which Geneva convention applies

Because she denies quantification. She did that already in other arguments. Basically anything but absolute purity is identical under that framework. That allows for very silly claims, like saying very few incidences of military rapes by american soldiers make them identical to crusaders or the red army in poland.

It's frequent on the very far left to deny quantification because moral ranking is very frowned upon by them. They really hate th

The following post isn't in regard to any particular poster in this forum, but generally addresses progressive leftism.

I think what is going on can actually be reduced even further. The guiding first principle of far left progressivism is hatred of western civlization and rationality itself. So leftists are reflexively sympathetic to Islamists who they view as fellow travelers in this regard.

To leftists gender equality activism is a tool to undermine Western cilivization, and not an end onto itself; so they are mostly agnostic towards Islamists shortcomings in this regard.

In other news Hamas is firing a bunch of rockets into Israel because the IDF is closing in on their hiding place; so they are going to lose control of them anyways; so might as well try to kill some Jews in the interim.

And if democratic elections were held tomorrow; all indications are these are the people that would win resoundingly in Gaza and the West Bank. But yeah, Palestinians are definitely going to be able to form a peaceful, functional state if the rest of the world just wills it into existence by recognizing it.

LOL.

I’m beginning to feel like I can’t argue for Palestine any longer in this thread. My racism/ anti-semitism meter keeps going off and I don’t want to be apart of it anymore.

prob has more to do with:

Israeli airstrike kills dozens in Rafah tent camp

This is the deadliest incident in Rafah since Israel began its offensive in the city in early May. It took place just days after the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to immediately halt military operations in Rafah.
but ok

When you are drifting into those territories then yes, it’s an ideal time for a break.

Interesting you left out this portion of the headline:

Gaza authorities say

--If this even happened at all, just as likely a misfired Hamas rocket hit the tent city. You do know they are firing the rockets from dense civilian population centers and under the best of circumstances (which we are months removed from) 1/5 of them misfire.

It is statistically a certainty that misfired rockets have killed a significant number of Gazans (and virtually no Israelis).

interesting theory. except they admitted it

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that an Israeli aircraft conducted an air strike in the area

Oh I’m not. But there’s too many posters that I don’t think care about Palestinians but do care about hurting Jewishness across the world.

Those who are now recognizing "Palestine" as a state are rewarding Hamas for their Oct 7th attack.

Speaking of interesting theories. In chronological order by time:

1. Israeli forces in Rafah are closing in on a rocket storage site, getting as close as 800 meters.

2. Hamas fires a barrage of rockets at Tel Aviv, a densely populated city. Simple logic is they realize they are about to lose the rockets anyways, so might as well try to kill some Jews in the process.

3. Several hours later Israel attacks what they claim is an active Hamas compound. Hamas alleges up to 35 civilian casualties.

4. 72off defends Hamas firing the rockets at Tel Aviv by saying they were fired in response to an event that wouldn't happen for several hours; and was itself likely in response to Hamas firing rockets at Tel Aviv.

Did I miss anything?

Notice when rockets are shot into Israel from Gaza they are just hoping to randomly kill a Jew. Watch the Gazans cheer on the rockets being launched.

Notice that Israel warns the Gazans to get out of Harms way before they bomb a specific terrorist target. I don't think I have heard many Israelis cheering on the bombings even though the targets are military.

The Palestinians play the victim and act out violently. Israelis don't complain, they simply go to work to improve their situation.

"Rape is not resistance".

what? they have watch parties and ****

Oh I’m not. But there’s too many posters that I don’t think care about Palestinians but do care about hurting Jewishness across the world.

The average person in this world doesn't care about either group. If you are Arab you are rooting for the Palestinians. If you are Jewish you are rooting for the Israelis. The exception would be the whacko woke Jews who hate themselves and the loser college age white kids who can't make the team or get into a frat. I used to not care since I am not Muslim or Jewish. However, after seeing October 7th and the horrible behavior of the pro "Palestine" protestors I've come over to the Israeli side. I guarantee these protests have done way more harm than good for the "Palestinians". When your protest prevents people from getting to class or getting somewhere in your car you are just pissing people off.

they targeted 10 displacement centers, used seven 2000-lbs american bombs. in a "safe" zone that they told ppl to go to. not the first time. absolutely disgusting

There is a hill just outside Gaza on the Israeli side where people can go to see the bombing. We just recently cancelled a trip to Israel June 6th-26th because of Hamas. We had friends there who mentioned we could go check it out if we wanted. I don't think people are throwing party's. Thanks to Hamas we ended up going to Yellowstone/Grand Teton.

This guy says "it's impossible to trust what the IDF says" but he can trust the information that comes from the Hamas ministry of propaganda? He trusts Al Jazeera which is owned by Qatar which gives safe haven to Hamas Billionaire leadership?

Do you see where I am going with this?

What adjective would you use to describe someone justifying shooting a barrage of rockets into a densely populated city by saying it was in response to an event that wouldn't happen for several hours?

well, not a war criminal anyway

It’d be comical if it wasn’t so sad.

If you remember the context, you were making a claim about Jewish Londoners not feeling safe because of AS, which was surprising to me because it’s not something I’ve heard here.

You then thought citing your father who you say lives in Golders Green, a one person sample, was enough to support your claim.

Then unfortunately for you BOIDS, an actual Jewish Londoner who probably gets out and about a lot more than your dad, chimed in and said he doesn’t feel any less safe here.

So, yes, it would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

What's your ethnicity (or your ethnicities) according to your definition of the word?

What do you have against people born in West Africa?

As if we couldn’t guess.

Seems like a good change for you anyway. Seeing the beauty of nature sounds much preferable to the sadness of witnessing the area where 3 of the world's biggest hate groups came into existence.

I have nothing against them but I don't discuss with them as I do with western people resentful of the west, which is what I thought you were.

If you aren't a western and dislike the west core values (as you abundantly made clear) it's very different
