ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

James Woods has been backing and actively encouraging people to vote for Trump since the 2020 election, at very least, and it took about 30 seconds find him on the record for having voted for Trump in the 2016 election. It's kind of absurd that he would suggest he had been planning to NOT vote, I wonder if this was maybe misheard.

I mean maybe he did say it and was lying through his teeth, he's certainly a weasel but he's so on-brand consistent it would seem weird.

A lot of these people have made a decision to leap into a world of fantasy and lies.

You know that type that is full of stories, like the time they offered to buy a homeless person dinner at Mortons and an 80k job but they were rudely declined, proving they all want to be homeless, and we needn't have any concern for them.

James woods is a pretty entertaining troll account

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says he has proof that this jury was not a jury of Trumps peers and got hold of a photo of the jury to prove it.

The natural best move by Biden would be to pardon trump

President can only pardon federal crimes, and this was a state court, so Biden can't pardon Trump here.

LOL @ Matasow and James Woods not voting for Trump before the verdict. So ridiculous

.... You mean to tell me, some random prosecutor in some random city is going to put a former President in jail who is in a race? .... This is a porn star ... this is over. A city lawyer and a pron star and I am supposed to think this is legit, and I am supposed to take it.

To be fair, it's a biggest city, business center of the world attorney and a porn star taking down a 13 time bankrupt, Howard Stern regular, ex reality tv star who engaged in corrupt business practices in that city for 50 years, ****ed the porn star and paid her off.

No one cares that you can't take it.

I'll take Biden at this line all day

I still think its 50/50 on the election. The convictions might move it like 52/48 Biden or something.

I think we will see some extreme pressure on Trump by all sides of the Republican party/donors/ other elected officials to voluntarily step down before his nomination in the next few weeks.

Whether he does is just guessing

Why? And why would he step down? This isn't bad for him. If it doesn't reduce the support from his base, it could strengthen his brand. How many low information voters who were undecided will this sway and in what direction?

Further thoughts:
I think leading an insurrection against the federal government to execute his vice president is WAY worse than this case.

The same reason politicians and CEOs step down from pressure when there is a legal scandal in the headlines.... People start jumping ship and the ability to effectively lead is reduced when the person becomes a bigger problem than an asset.

The Republicans don't want to nominate a convicted felon for the office of President.

I, for one, am shocked that the MAGA crowd are unable to think through this whole thing logically. They are usually so good at that.

I vote that we change the thread title to 'Convicted felon ex-president Trump'

MAGA and the clowns who pander to them are just deeply unserious people who should not be treated with any respect or reason. For those keeping score at home:

Cannon, appointed by Trump, is intentionally sandbagging a significant trial where the president who appointed her is the defendant in the hopes that Trump can win election and end the case? I don’t see the problem. She’s just being a great judge

Georgia republicans sidestepping the election interference case by targeting the accusing DA because something something affair? I don’t see the problem. She’s obviously compromised and trump hating so fair is fair

A mob of lunatics attack the Capitol for the expressed purpose of subverting an election? I don’t see the problem. Are you still talking about this libtard? Remember when BLM protestors set a fire inside a closed Walgreens?

Trump convicted of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers for a crime that was transparently committed and will almost certainly face no jail time as a first time offender? THE LEFT IS OUT OF CONTROL! BANANA REPUBLIC! LIGHT THE TORCHES!!!!

This

Will that title change make you feel better or worse if he ends up winning anyway?

That's the kind of dumb masturbatory thing a pre-unstuck 2p2 politics mod would've done.

Watching Trump doing his live peepaw presser and jfc what the hell are we doing? This guy is such a whiny little bitch.

Has gained credibility in the quite large population of excons. Only most of them can't vote because this is a democracy.

Maybe

Donald ImmaJohn Trump

?

Grunching here, everyone is being super normal about the Trump verdict, right?

Thankfully. He hasn’t been sentenced yet. Hope he does at least a month

I'm expecting some huge "whatabout Hunter"s from the peanut gallery

Saw a recent poll on CNN this AM and 60% say Trumps conviction will not change their vote , 17% says it may effect their vote and 15% say it makes them more likely to vote for Trump.

I'm still not very confident that he will receive any time. The possibility of his serving any actual time is even more remote, considering the time consuming appeals process. Justice delayed is justice denied.

About the only possibility I see of him serving time is if Merchan pops him a day or two for contempt of court for violating the gag orders. I don't give that much of a chance either though.

Not sure that this kind of question will ever provide reliable data. A good poll taken recently but before the verdict and one with a similar sample taken after the verdict would be more useful.

CNN IS BULLSHIT **** CNN
