Moderation Questions and General Chat Thread

Moderation Questions and General Chat Thread

The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.

This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.

Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.

Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.

So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.

Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.

So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.

We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.

Thanks.

Well for a start there are only 24 hours in a day and you're typing into rectangular boxes here for at least 16 of them.

I have this forum open on one tab togheter with others and twitter and discord.

Then I take a couple of hours to farm .it sites (yes they are still soft) then I go back.

And I keep tables open a lot to catch fishes (low actions, many rooms) which requires SOMETHING to fill all the empty moments or you actually get crazy

You play online poker for a living?

To pad income until it lasts (it is tax free in Italy, rake is a tad higher, a portion goes to the state, but that exempts eventual winnings from income taxes), could retire on previous winnings (budgeting carefully) but why leave free money on the table until it lasts

What makes you think I am not already very active on Twitter???

Fair enough. What prizes have you won?

Told you in PM

After you complete your long-format training here on 2+2, I assume that you will feel prepared to enter the short-format competition on X, which of course has a much larger field.

May I ask what sorts of prizes you expect to win in the competition on X? I ask not because I doubt your ability but rather because I am not familiar with the prize structure.

Owning libs obv

Fascists always own the libs, historically, because libs biggest enemy is socialism and they always believe they can control and use the fascists to rid them of that threat (when the reverse turns out to be the case).

What makes this forum so fascinating to me is how accurate it is as a microcosm of politics in the broader world.

I don't want to own anyone, I am against slavery.

He has been nominated in every category previously dominated by Cuepee.

I am against slavery.

Surely it can't be worse than playing online poker 16 hours a day.

Dunno I never played 16 hours a day. Did you?

Wait a minute, you were talking about discrimination against Christians, not Jewish people.

If you moved to Iran you might be discriminated against for being American more than anything else.

Re. Turkey I am not an American and neither was the person who lived there.

Not making any point. Just chat.

I've been to Turkey and Malaysia.

Turkey had the second friendliest people I've ever come across, after Brazil. They went out of their way to assist me or family members several times.

I was mostly, not entirely, in Istanbul, though. People there are more secular. I don’t know if that factored in. But hospitality is a virtue in Islam, so maybe the provincials are even nicer.

In Malaysia, only the Malay (there are also Indians and Chinese) are mostly Muslim, but they are fairly serious about it. They were always nice to me.

Well, almost. I got clipped by a motorcycle and poor food vendors rushed to my aid with first aid supplies.

It was just a little chunk taken out of my ankle, but bloody.

I found a doctor's office and it was clear that they didn't want to treat me. The doctor was ice cold and refused to give me stitches, which it seemed obvious i needed. Another doctor stuck his head in and was quite affable, but it wasn't his case. I imagined he knew the other doctor would not treat me well and wanted to look in on me.

It took a long time to heal and i have a big scar, so obviously stitches were in order.

One of the only times I've really felt hostility as an American, and only time from Muslims. Both the receptionist and Doctor.

On the whole, Muslims have been nicer and more hospitable to me than average.

If things ever settle down, I'd love to visit Iran.

In my relatively limited experience, hospitality to visitors is a cultural norm in Muslim countries.

I never said anything about Christians. You said no one from western cultures were discriminated against, which is ridiculous.

All of those Cats of Istanbul instagram videos make it seem like an awesome to go where cats roam free and are loved by all.

I've read elsewhere that the cats are often abused by city dwellers. Not sure if that is true, or maybe some of each.

You're right. You were chiming in on Luciom's side of the argument, and he did specify Christians.

In my post you replied to I said that in some areas of the world I'd expect to find Americans discriminated against.

I specified christians being discriminated against much more than muslims *by leftists*, not by muslim majority countries lol.

By leftists in the west.

Specifically, leftists allow extreme offenses against christianity much more than they allow extreme offenses against islam.

Christians discriminated against by leftists in the West?

What extreme offences against Christianity are these terrible leftists waving through that they're preventing against Islam?

Lmao the moderation in the Israel/Palestine thread is a complete farce.

I made a post that read, “So is Hamas a tiny percentage of the Gazan population or an omnipresent force with eyes and ears everywhere?”, which got deleted.

No idea how that deserves to be deleted without warning while some posters are allowed to shitpost with impunity.

Go ahead and perma me so I don’t waste any more time participating in the circus.

What extreme offenses against Christianity should the left make illegal?

supposn opened more threads, than everyone else combined in the last 6 months i think

by Trolly McTrollson P

None, it should simply allow unlimited "hate" speech toward islam (and any other religion) as well. In the USA that's already the case in normal situations but it isn't in colleges, and that should change.

In other countries hate speech laws purportedly protect all religions but de facto they don't protect christianity. I am not saying to protect christianity i am saying to stop this insane discrimination by removing all hate speech laws protecting religion in general.

There is no reason why i shouldn't be allowed to say whatever i want about islam same as people who dislike star wars can say whatever they want about that.

Hate speech against Muslims is perfectly legal in the USA, you seem a bit confused.
