Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:
The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.
When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.
It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.
But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.
If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

Where did you read that? Their prison population was very small, something like 40k. They had 5k volunteer.

Obviously the RAF covered the Dunkirk evacuation, preventing the Luftwaffe from interdicting the operation as Goering promised, and the RAF also maintained air superiority over the Channel and Southern England, defeating the enemy's invasion plans (because the enemy required air superiority to neutralise the Royal Navy while his inadequate Rhine barges attempted the crossing). The RAF barely managed to accomplish the results you listed because American heroes went fighting as pilots in it.

I could only find a Kyiv Independent article. It's not well written and I'm not too sure what "could recruit 20k" means. I think they mean that's the eligible pool, which is not much. I read they are expecting 5k from whatever the pool is, but I thought the pool was 40k.

They had a very small prison population pre war, it was 50k in 2021 and falling. Rapists, murderers (with some exceptions), anyone accused of working with Russia, and being guilty of corruption all disqualify from the program.
I thought this would mean 40k eligible. It sounds like the article might be saying only 20k eligible. Even if it is 40k eligible, 20k joining seems unrealistic.
This is a huge discrepancy too. Ukraine is really going to struggle to recruit. I think they will be lucky to get 150k, so plus or minus 15k is massive.

A failing pariah state trading (probably nuclear tech) for arms from a failed pariah state to fight against Ukraine doesn't really need to be spun at all. Just the facts are enough to make it clear that Ukraine needs more help.
BTW while you're there, after posting on your uncensored internet, can you take some pics of these anti-DS utopias so I can see what the alternative is? All my DS Intel informs me that they're absolutely garbage, but since you're on location maybe you can show me the truth.
Semi related: one of the arguments for why Russia must continue this blunder is that if Russia stops destroying Ukraine then Ukraine will be lured by the niceties of the West when they help to rebuild.

I am not sure NK even views Russia as an equal. It was reported prior to the official meeting the North Koreans allowed the Russian delegation to all sit, and then told them to get up and wait for Kim to sit first. Completely punked them. You dont do that to an equal.
