Climate Change - increasingly horrible disasters loom

...............

there is so much out there about this - I don't really need to provide a lot of sources - a quick google search will find you thousands of links

of course there are the climate change deniers

and there are those who say what little we can do won't be nearly enough

just one link:

from the article:

"Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. "

couldn't resist one more link - story about Siberia, one of the coldest places on earth where there is human habitation - they now face 100 degree days and multiple wildfires caused by them

Or maybe that exposure to ideas in depth and critical thinking rather than the superficial sound bites and binary thinking so characteristic of the far right leads people to be more left wing.

If that was the case, the "far right" (which is actually a very moderate centrist position) would be losing votes every year given the population has never been gas educated as today everywhere

There are other reasons for that. The far right has been better at putting together coalitions than the left.

You mean like when the far left is accepted as a governing coalition partner and the far right never is (for now)?

The dutch government might be the first one where the (so called by the left) far right gets to govern; that's afyer many months from the election.

they are the first, preferred party for voters and they don't even express the prime minister.

Meanwhile radical actual communists have recently been coalition partners in Italian government routinely.

The most radical environmentalist party in Europe (the one who asked for and obtained that nuclear was shut down) is governing in a coalition in Germany.

Far from the nonsense about 26 being a red alert, the truth is 30 being a yellow alert - a risk for those who are particualrly vulnerable. Minor impacts on health/care services

Yellow heat-health alerts will be in place for most of England this week, as daytime temperatures look set to reach 30C (86F).

The alerts from the UK Health Security Agency, external (UKHSA) come into force at 08:00 BST on Monday and remain in place in eight regions until Thursday afternoon.

A yellow warning indicates that weather conditions could pose a risk to those who are particularly vulnerable.

The UKHSA says minor impacts are probable across the health and social care sector.

It’s hot outside. Not sure what happened

Lol 30. Try 47.

After 1500 peer reviewed papers and 10% of deficit spent on research, the left finally discovered that sometimes, in the summer, it can get hot.

This clearly, as per all peer reviewed papers, means that more socialism is needed to save the world.

That's why it's a very mild alert. Unlike the hysterical claims earlier that 26 was a red alert.

I've been in 45. That was no fun.

45 is certainly not optimal but it's far far better for human beings, for health, for death risks for fragile people, than -8, do you agree?

Give me -8C over 45C any day.

I went to Death Valley when it was 121F (49.5C). No thanks.

What do you think kills more people? Because literature on the topic is very clear

Define sometimes and we will check some charts together ?

+1
Luciom compass on weather is as bad has is political spectrum ….

Define sometimes and we will check some charts together ?

Is it strange for temperatures to get over 30 Celsius on the summer in the UK? No.

Does it happen more than before nowadays? Yes.

But once Yoh can deal with it for 7 days every summer, you can deal with it the same of it's 10 or 15 or 20 or 25 days.

Nothing unusual at all.

And British people pay big money to move where it's hot every summer so MAYBE it's not that bad, otherwise they will move to Norway, not Spain or Tuscany.

So the revealed preferences of British people are for a hotter place. It gets hotter, that's better for the human beings that live there.

They were literally paying to move where it was hotter

A) I was giving my preference.
B) Over 1300 people died during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia (I'd guess majority due to heat)

by Dunyain P

Neither do you. Earths climate has changed many times over millions of years, from times much warmer than now to times much cooler. It is true that rapid climate change will most likely cause much of the mega flora and fauna in the world today to go extinct, because they wont be able to adapt/evolve in time. But because of technology this is less of a concern for humans, and we dont actually know it will result in the doomsday scenarios

I will tell u a secret .
U can’t put 7 billions people in just 1 country …..

No I wouldn't agree. But i'd defer to the huge amounts spent on researching the weather if you have some serious data.

How many people died in cold season every year in Iran? Want to check excess deaths vs other seasons? Wonna bet it's a lot more than 1300 every single year?

by chezlaw P

No I wouldn't agree. But i'd defer to the huge amounts spent on researching the weather if you have some serious data.

It's everywhere in literature, just check the seasonal death rate in the UK or any other European country.

Winter kills more everywhere in Europe

He's not wrong

lol , it’s already 45 degrees in Philippines and the like in Asia for days /weeks .
So it’s all good for you Italy receive around 5-10 millions immigrants every years because it’s to hot elsewhere?

Well nice changing post btw with your take on number of days ….
Yeah ok if 25 days equal the word « sometimes » when it represent like only 33% of the summer , then i wont dispute it lol ….

I’ll just understand you don’t know the word sometimes really means shrug .

i'm very confident that more people int the UK are killed by the winter than by 45 degrees

He is defintiely not wrong

A) I have no idea.
B) The Hajj pilgrimage is 5-6 days, not an entire year.

by natediggity P

B) The Hajj pilgrimage is 5-6 days, not an entire year.

B) and it takes people from all over the world including a ton of people who shouldn't travel at all for health reasons but try to squeeze in that pilgrimage as the last thing they do before they die.
Maybe we should get some data on age and health of the people dying from heat? Because if its people who any normal physician would advise against traveling to a hot place ... Then those aren't climate deaths, those are suicides?

Normal people know that when it's ****ing hot you don't stay outside under the sun, full point. It's not complicated.
