Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Hezbollah is is not targeting civilians

In the event Hezbollah does not stop, Israel will look way better and will have more support for going into Lebanon.

Hezbollah is is not targeting civilians

Rockets are being launched in proximity to civilian areas, resulting in the evacuation of residents. I am not engaging in a discussion about war crimes, but merely presenting factual information, sir.

So if Israel and Gaza reach a ceasefire, and hezbollah stops, Israel is the bad guy if they do anything in retaliation to hezbollah?

Perhaps they regard them as allies of the Israeli gov in the same way that the latter regards Gazans as allies of Hamas; after all they probably have family members in the IDF.

All this **** cuts both ways.

I just feel the context is important. Hezbollah thus far has been very disciplined at targeting military installations and avoiding civilian casualties. the IDF in Southern Lebanon cannot say the same.

If Hezbollah stops then Israel would not be retaliating because they would have already gotten what they want.

So it won’t stop till Gaza is controlled by IDF

I'm asking if you think israel would be wrong if they shot rockets at Lebanon at that point

People that send money to Hamas are supporting terrorism ya?

by metsandfinsfan P

I'm asking if you think israel would be wrong if they shot rockets at Lebanon at that point

Yes if Hezbollah stops firing rockets at Israel then Israel should not attack Hezbollah

by Bluegrassplayer P

Yes if Hezbollah stops firing rockets at Israel then Israel should not attack Hezbollah

So is hezbollah wrong for right now shooting rockets at Israel?

by PointlessWords P

People that send money to Hamas are supporting terrorism ya?

I'm not sure if you're baiting me.
I'm not sure we're allowed to say that in this thread.
I'm not sure what your point is.
I'm not sure why you don't just say what you want to say.

Objection!
Relevance to this conversation in the slightest

by metsandfinsfan P

So is hezbollah wrong for right now shooting rockets at Israel?

Yes

by Bluegrassplayer P

Yes

And do you think that should go unchecked?

No.

So what then

What is the confusion?

Are people that send money to IDF supporting terrorism/ genocide?

by metsandfinsfan P

So is hezbollah wrong for right now shooting rockets at Israel?

Are they doing it to help lessen deaths of their allies?

by PointlessWords P

Are they doing it to help lessen deaths of their allies?

No, of course not.

The narrative is they are doing it to pressure Israel to leave Gaza. But Israel has demonstrated there is nothing Hezbollah could do that would impact their Gaza plans. All they are accomplishing is initiating hostilities between Israel/Lebanon.

So IF Hezbollah was attacking Israel to pressure them to leave Gaza, Hezbollah should accept they have completely failed, and adjust accordingly.

Of course the truth is Hezbollah is just an Iranian proxy; and Iran is willing to use any pretext to create chaos in the Arab world, to strengthen their own relative position.

by PointlessWords P

Are people that send money to IDF supporting terrorism/ genocide?

Yes they are though as tax payers they don’t have much choice.

by metsandfinsfan P

So what then

by jalfrezi P

Yes they are though as tax payers they don’t have much choice.

what about those that openly donate their own money independent of any taxes/forced donations
