Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
It won't nuke Israel because it doesn't have nukes yet. But there are such things as tactical nukes held by countries that could be fired as a warning, plus the possibility of an accident, and I think the chances of either of those are much larger than commonly believed, and with uncertain consequences.

The IRI is deeply unpopular in Iran. Whereas much of Arab society has embraced Islamism following the Arab Spring; in Iran the people themselves are turning against Islamism. The IRI is selling China very cheap energy, so China is helping prop up the regime, and this may be enough; but it is possible there is another revolution and the IRI is overthrown by the people.

When the writing was on the wall for Saddam he fired a bunch of Scud missiles at Israel, because why not try to kill some Jews on the way out (Saddam was deeply antisemitic). We dont know if the Mullahs would do something similar for similar reasons if/when they are on the way out, but I wouldn't put it beyond them.

another hospital massacre is ongoing. scenes of evacuating patients on hospital beds all over twitter.

I thought they would have destroyed all the hospitals and were holding all the doctors hostage and raping them daily by now. How many hospitals are there in Gaza?

they keep rebuilding them. Israel keeps attacking. kinda shows the difference between the West and the Resistance. a metaphor or something.

and they let out a bunch of doctors if you didnt see. some Israeli liberals were bigly mad about that.

ngl its pretty antisemetic of those jews to say that they don't like zionism

this one is definitely real. and from the same hospital.

If X is anywhere close to being as flooded with fake imagery as FB, I'd put the first image at essentially 100% fake, with the second pic being at about 95% fake.

Lighting doesn't come looking anything close to that with the dude eating the bagel. And I'm not going to believe that an auto focus or fixed focus camera is going to both make the background writing and the dude's face appear in symmetry like from a pic taken on the fly.

I'm sure the IDF did all of those things, but I don't think folks fully grasp how much fake photography is being flooded online - or that FB and X are used as a mechanism for that.

I'm sure there are videos of this exact thing happening, and a pic woudn't even need to essentially to be faked - because you could literally have a video of this exact thing happening. But a mocked pic will still be produced.

What phone do you currently use

I saw it on my phone, so I would have to find the link; but apparently a Palestinian militant from the West Bank used a high powered sniper rifle to snipe an Israeli from very far away. And some group or another claimed it, so it isn't even disputed this happened.

I keep bringing this up, and I keep getting tumbleweed in response; but a Palestinian controlled West Bank is a tremendous security risk to Israel. It is high ground directly over Israel's major population centers.

And we have an 80 year sample of Palestinian authorities being unwilling and/or unable to control terrorist actions into Israel; so given this I really just dont see any viable way to have a Palestinian controlled West Bank, much less a state.

And this is on top of the reality no one actually wants a Palestinian state. Not Israel, not the PLO, not Fatah, not Egypt, not Jordan, etc. It is just something people (mostly Westerners) call for for political reasons, but it has always been empty.

So give Palestinians the state they’ve been demanding forever, which is what the terrorism is about.

So give Palestinians the state they’ve been demanding forever, which is what the terrorism is about.

"Palestinians" covers a lot of ground. No one representing the Palestinians in any official capacity has ever shown the slightest interest in a peaceful state coexisting with Israel. Hamas doesn't even pretend. Even when begging for a "ceasefire," they acknowledge they will break such ceasefire at their convenience and will eventually conquer all of Israel and kill, enslave or make dhimni all Jews in a future Islamic apartheid state.

IF Palestinians actually wanted a state, the first people they should be protesting are the PA and Hamas, who have spent the last few decades doing everything in their power to make sure no state will ever happen.

If anyone think "resistance" is leading towards actual statehood, they are solely disillusioned. But I dont think that is the case. As I have said before, the Palestinian State exists almost solely in the imagination of Westerners living thousands of miles away.

Resistance is their only way to peace. All other options have been exhausted.

Finally, that firepower has also become more accurate. Hizbullah now routinely uses small quadcopters to identify immediate targets for rockets. It has also been sending reconnaissance drones to identify targets and, one or two days later, strike drones to attack them “very accurately”, says the officer. Positions that the idf once thought were well camouflaged have repeatedly been found and hit, he says. “The only reason we don’t have huge casualties in the north,” he adds, “is that our forces remain out of sight.” If the idf had to go on the offensive, that would change.

[...]

Then there is the matter of scale. Israeli generals talk optimistically of a limited ground manoeuvre to capture a “security zone” to prevent Hizbullah from firing on Israeli border villages. In 1982 the idf needed seven divisions to invade Lebanon. Four divisions were used in the smaller war of 2006. At present, the idf is stretched thin in Gaza and the West Bank. At least one of the units sent to training bases in the north for exercises, in terrain simulating Lebanon, has already been sent back to fight in Gaza. “I don’t see where they’re going to bring enough soldiers from,” says one reservist who took part in those drills.

BTW no idea how much damage occurs in the Hamas video I posted. The two things I'm posting here are unrelated.

LOL. They have never tried anything but resistance, and they have never been interested in peace.

The 2006 ground invasion didn't accomplish very much, but the bombing campaign was successful. Maybe the strategy should be to give civilians sufficient time to leave, destroy EVERYTHING within 10 KM (or whatever) of the border, and create a sufficient buffer zone this way.

With maybe limited ground invasion to destroy infrastructure once an area is deemed safe enough.

you dont get freedom peacefully. you cant have freedom without justice.
