Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I dunno man, this is not the feeling I get from following their twitter and instagram channels.

I stay away from social media. I don't think it's good for you.

lots of complaining in this thread too.

where undoubedlty Israelis were the victims.

They were victims of a terrorist event but they don't act like victims. They went ahead and took care of the situation. Palestinians seem to live a whole life of victimhood.

Israel allows journalists inside Rafah for first time since troops invaded. This is what they found

Two months ago, before Israeli troops invaded Rafah, the city sheltered most of Gaza's more than 2 million people. Today it is a dust-covered ghost town.

Abandoned, bullet-ridden apartment buildings have blasted out walls and shattered windows. Bedrooms and kitchens are visible from roads dotted with rubble piles that tower over the Israeli military vehicles passing by. Very few civilians remain.

Israel says it has nearly defeated Hamas forces in Rafah — an area identified earlier this year as the militant group's' last stronghold in Gaza.

Before invading Rafah, Israel said Hamas' four remaining battalions had retreated there, an area of about 25 square miles (65 square kilometers) that borders Egypt. Israel says hundreds of militants have been killed in its Rafah offensive. Scores of women and children have also died from Israeli airstrikes and ground operations.

Efforts to bring aid into southern Gaza have stalled. Israel's incursion into Rafah closed down one of two major crossings into the south of Gaza. The U.N. says little aid can enter from the other main crossing — Kerem Shalom — because the route is too dangerous and convoys are vulnerable to attacks by armed groups searching for smuggled-in cigarettes.

“The hospitals are once again short on fuel, risking disruption of critical services,” said Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the World Health Organization’s regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean. "Injured people are dying because the ambulance services are facing delays due to fuel shortages.”

they were not victims of anything. they act like victims all the time. they have not taken care of the situation as Hamas is still heroically resisting and they still possess the POWs.

Palestinians are legitimate victims of what will go down as the worst genocide since the holocaust but rather than accepting their fate they have chosen to fight back.

Attempting to shut down criticism of their country by accusing people of antisemitism is a good definition of acting like victims.

Just give everyone in the whole of Israel + Palestine a US passport and set up a massive state of the art Museum of Genocide in Israel to act as a permanent reminder of the Holocaust and other genocides, including this one.

I certainly wouldn't use the word "hero" to describe terrorists. I would describe them as stupid for resisting. On the other hand, by provoking the much more powerful enemy more of their people will die. They seem to like the Martyr thing. The more their people die the more they get to play the victim.

Are you talking about the IDF here vs the more powerful surrounding Arab states?

A person hiding behind the "criticism of Israel" to show their hate of Jews is classic antisemitism.

Are you talking about the Arab states that have been crushed every time they have attacked Israel?

We're allowed to criticise every one of the ~200 countries in the world except for one?

Also fyi conflating Israel with Jewish people is definitionally anti-Semitic so you might like to reconsider your post.

I don’t think Israel can withstand attacks from its neighbors.

Now Israel with US help and supplies can, but not Israel on its own

I do agree that Israel is fighting a war it can’t win long term vs a superior enemy which will result in Israeli victimhood and martyrdom

I guess it depends on the US as to when it wants to stop defending Israel and the IDF

oh okay. so if at some point israel are losing you're arguing for them just to accept it. Like sensible victims?

If there is zero chance for them to win I think this would be the logical choice.

This is an ancient anti-semitic trope.

No, I think Rwanda 1994 holds that title, with over half a million murdered in a little over three months.

Lets not forget that Israel is the size of New Jersey. Lets also not forget they are fighting an enemy that has a population of a billion people. I would say getting a little help from their friends makes a lot of sense.

It will be a long time before the US stops defending Israel. The next 8 years of Trump will be some of the best for Israel and the worst for it's enemies.

Victor and Mongidig, please take a timeout from this thread immediately. PMs will be incoming when I have time in a few hours- I will need responses before either of you are allowed to post again in this thread.

Warning- This post dances too close to the line of what is acceptable for this thread.

You’re clueless so it doesn’t matter what you think lol. Israel is a first world country with world leading industries. It’s not going anywhere with or without US support. Without US support they would have to resort to much more drastic measures but would assuredly still get the job done. History and common knowledge do not support anything you think.

186,000 dead in 270 days at least comes close, and we're not even close to the end yet.

and that's also the conservative end of the estimate, the actual number is probably much higher

About a 10/7 every two days for several months.
