2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

I do it like 10-15% of the time. And probably 2-3% of the time, I've stacked all 3 of Hill, Waddle, and Achane.

Wicks stock may surge even more than it already has.

Love said he’s awesome and he expects a monster year from him

Wicks is going to be a first round pick after that comment lol. I'll continue my fade, especially as he keeps rising.

You know what Love didn't do? Choose Wicks as a WR in his perfect play. You know who he did choose? Doubs.

I have been shying away from Hill/Waddle stacks. Part of the benefit of Waddle is the contingent upside if Hill misses time, whereas in this build you need hill too

It can obviously work and I may be too cautious on that, but at Waddles price, I don’t want to remove any of his outs, if that makes sense

I agree!

This is the first time I did it. I thought there was a chance Achane would fall to me in the third so I went for the mega stack this one time. I usually like to pair Deebo with Tyreek for a week 16 stack. The week 17 Miami/Cleveland matchup is scary weather wise. Week 16 SF at Miami should be a high scoring game so this pairing could be what I need to advance to the finals. Week 15 Miami plays at Houston which should be another high scoring game.

Waddle should be more healthy this year. Last year it was all Tyreek because they were trying to get him to 2k yards. I think things even out a bit this year. I think Waddle can provide solid stand alone value in what is a flat second round tier. There could be a ping pong effect in the playoff that ends up beneficial. If Tyreek went down I would still have a first round performing WR on the squad.

I just heard that Brittney and Pat Mahomes are expecting the birth of their third child on Christmas day. That is week 17 and the Chiefs play the Steelers that day.

I'm moving Pat down to round 10.

Do parents really need to be there for the birth of their 3rd kid??

- Not a parent.

Regarding Hill/Waddle stacks. I think they're still viable together, but fine to play alone as well.

The problem with playing them separately is if one of them gets hurt and misses a lot of time, it's going to be really tough for that roster to make a deep run given their prices.

Doubs is the one steady WR in this offense both in regards to playing time and playing ability. Watson is a super freak but has been held back by the hammy. I'm taking flyers on Bo Melton in the last round if I have Love. He stepped up when they needed him last year. He's got the talent if he gets the opportunity. I like Wicks but I'm not gonna over pay for him. I need to get more Jordan Love.

I'm not getting the Josh Allen/James Cook correlation. I'm down on Allen as it is. If Allen is to be the guy again this year he will have to run for another 15 ish TD's. His receiving corp is sketch. I can see this being a 2023 Mahomes like season for him. Cook doesn't score many TD's.

What am I missing?

Wicks should be going in Pearsall's range.

The funny thing about the Packers is all receivers, TEs, and RBs get positive talk by Love and the coaches. But for some reason, the community only wants to focus on Wicks.

Bo Melton is interesting, and I think he's fine with Love or Minny bring backs, but there are a lot of guys in the 18th that I think project better than him. Dortch, Raymond, Rondale, Bourne/Osborn, etc.

I hope we get quality training camp reports from the Packers.

It's also possible that the receiving group + Kincaid are better than we expect, lessening Josh's necessary rushing output to get there.

I'm not a big James Cook fan, especially in .5 PPR, but I think the correlation for him and Josh is that if the offense is moving, both will benefit. And then Cook being a receiving focused back helps too. He had some pretty solid receiving outputs + more receiving TDs than rushing TDs last season.

I think the other part of it is people don't really know the best way to stack Allen on UD. It's awkward with the pass catchers, but the ADP for Allen and Cook line up perfectly.

Allen and Kincaid are on the opposite side of the board. Generally you have to pull up Keon or Curtis if you want to lock those stacks in. Although, Keon can be had in the late 7th now, so that makes it a little easier. Shakir likely sucks, but he lines up the best for pass catchers.

I don't have much (if any) Cooks.

Fine with running Allen naked, but would prefer with Kincaid as that's by far my favorite TE to spend up on.

Fast puppy. Pick 9.

I grabbed Jayden Reed past ADP. I don't draft much of him but I'm trying to create a Jordan Love portfolio mixing in all 5 receivers. I think Love is gonna be a monster this year. Unfortunately I didn't get him this time.

Overall I feel pretty good about the structure of this team. I'd prefer a slightly better QB room but it should get the job done.

I'm Taking Kelce in the 4th a lot. I think the fantasy hive mind sways too far each year with regards to his ADP. Last year mid first? Come on! This year early to mid 4th? What are we doing here? I get it they are limiting his playing time during the season but his one week upside is silly. I'm seeing a lot of drafts though were people are taking him mid third and then grabbing Mahomes in the 4th. I think as the casuals start drafting he'll slip less into the 4th.

QB) Caleb, Cousins, Maye

RB) Breece, Brooks, Pollard, Corum, R Davis.

WR) London, D Moore, Reed, Odunze, JSN, Polk, Baker, Chark

TE) Kelce, Fant

Nice squad. I also don't get much Reed but have been making more of an effort to select him some, ideally stacked with Love.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kelce is an early to mid third round pick on UD by the time draft season is over. I know he's already there on DK.

I have some 5th round Kelce in the pre-draft contests, back when people were worried he would retire.

Alright, I did some investigative work on these Love quotes.

2:30 - "Who is someone that is going to have a breakout season this year?" He thinks, then says there are a lot of guys on the team who came onto the scene and surprised some people, but clarifies they weren't surprises in the locker room. He follows that up with the Wicks monster season quote. Then he also says Reed is going to have a breakout season. Says they were rookies last year and did some awesome things. "Two guys who are going to ball out this year and take the league by storm."

15:40 - "Who are the top 5 receivers this up coming season?" In the order Love listed them: Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks, Musgrave. Although, he did clarify Musgrave wasn't a receiver, then he mentioned Jacobs, also clarified he wasn't a receiver, but then said Jacobs would catch a receiving TD. There was talk earlier in the video about how Jacobs is 5 catches away from setting the record for most catches without a receiving TD. He's currently at 197. He also threw out Adams as the technical 5th receiver for this question, and said, "I want to give Tae some love right there."

It was just a shooting the **** AMA on Bleacher Report talking up his guys and talking about other non-football related topics. It was also conducted 6 days ago. I guess the general media found the quotes and decided today was the day.

He obviously loves Bo Melton since he didn't mention him......Right? Gotta keep him a secret.....Right? I'm moving him up to round 14.

Don’t think you needed dimes here . I’d prolly have taken another wr .

I didn't need him. I intended on grabbing another WR but Dimes fell way past ADP and I'm a believer in him this year. I already had singletary so I put together a little puke stack adding Hyatt. I don't mind having a third QB given the physicality of AR and potential to miss games. If this draft was in mid August and I had a better read on where some of these last round WR's fit in I may have gone that route.

My receiving corp is a bit scary depending on what happens to Rice. Taking another WR makes a lot of sense. I decided to gamble.

Got Watson at 196, wasn’t planning on going 3qbs unless Nix fell to the 18th (he went ahead of Watson), but felt like too much value to pass up

Qb - Jayden, Tlaw, Watson

Rb - Achane, Monty, Pollard, Ekeler, Lloyd

Wr - Chase, DK, Mclaurin, Btjr, Gabe, Franklin, Mims, E Moore

Te - Kincaid, Chig

First time getting Hurts w Smith, feel like ADP values are going crazy right now

Qb - Hurts, Tlaw

Rb - Walker, Warren, Mondre, Kendre, Davis

Wr - CD, Evans, D Smith, Btjr, Gabe, Wandale, Baker, Tez Walker, Tolbert

Te - McBride, Goedert

TE's a little weak. Hearing good things about Wiley though in the event Kelce gets hurt. Plus it's not like Reid never gets his other TEs involved in the redzone.

Got the triple ZZZ start at RB.

QB - Purdy, Levis, Maye

RB - Zamir, Zack, Zeke, Vidal, Tracy, Ali

WR - Chase, Olave, Deebo, Kirk, Terry, Shaheed, Cooks, Baker

TE - Kittle, Chig, Wiley

I think stopping at 2 is fine if Wiley is the te pick. Kittle and Chig is good. Team looks solid

Probably right. I still like Wiley as a last round pick, but perhaps better to only draft him in Mahomes stacks.

This Puppy 2 slow that just finished might be one of my favorite. Covered everywhere.

Trevor, Levis, Maye

CMC, Monty, Mostert, C Brown, Lloyd

Deebo, DeVonta, Kirk, Ridley, BTJ, Polk, Osborn

Bowers, Jonnu, Chig
