He finally released the returns from when he was in office. Those are not the ones he promised to release while he was running for president the first time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that he has been in contact with some other people over those 5 days. People with whom contact is necessary for presidential duties to be done.
When the president is sick, he should be concentrating on doing actual presidential duties, along with getting medical care. That is why he did the right thing by suspending campaigning (even before ending his campaign). I don't expect him to be wasting energy checking in every day so that people who hate him can be sure he's still alive to kick around.

However it is typical for Presidents to release more than one year of their tax returns prior to elections and Trump did not do that nor did Congress. Similarly there is a 0% chance that Trump will release post 2020 tax returns.
