My point is I don't think it matters what he was actually hit with.
The only difference it would be is if he knows it was just a scratch, but he's passing it off as a bullet. But lying is par for the course, so doesn't really change much.

if his hit by a bullet (direct involvement) or a non bullet but just by collateral damages (indirect involvement) yes i think in their mind it changes thing.

I'm not going to put a number on it, but I'd consider the following variables:
- Motive: was it predictable that Trump would get a significant boost in ratings, I mean polls, after this happening? If not, I don't see the point. What other motives are there?
- Complexity: How many people would need to be involved in pulling this off? I assume the scenario we're talking here is ear explosive & missed shots on purpose.
- Actors: Who are we saying is involved? Trump obviously, but who else? I'd say it's more likely if it's people like Bannon or Roger Stone, than say, sneaky Russians.
All in all, I'd say the odds are pretty low but nonzero.
