2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

At a bachelor party and going to Pats training camp today. Hopefully Drake Maye looks good, so I don’t feel so gross about drafting him so much haha

Think I managed to make it work

QB - Trevor, Watson, Maye

RB - Jacobs, Moss, Ekeler, Gus, Herbert, Pierce

WR - Puka, MHJ, Moore, Ridley, Reed, Gabe, Baker, Elijah, Malik

TE - McBride, Henry

Jonnu about to smash.

So what's the rule on having 2 QBs with the same bye?

I kind of want to do a build that's heavy Chiefs and Phins even if I have to reach a ton, but Tua and Pat have the same bye.

Should be okay if my 3rd QB has a different bye? Too risky if that 3rd QB is Maye or Nix? Thinking maybe safer to take Trevor, but not sure if that's too much capital at QB.

Sounds like most of your team will be off week 6 so idk how well that will go . But Taking Trevor isn’t too bad .

I don't do any best ball leagues, but I do follow this thread for info on players.

One thing I'm curious about with these best ball leagues is the idea behind stacking. I get why you would stack a qb and one wr or one TE, but it seems that people are often trying to stack QBs and multiple WRs from the same team or QB and RB from same team. I don't understand why you would want to do that. Can someone ELI5 it?

So in DFS you generally don't stack more than 2 skill players with your QB. That's due to the negative correlation and not everyone is going off in a single game.

But in BestBall you're playing for the whole season so it can be fine to stack more than 2 skill players. I think 1-3 is optimal. Reason is you're looking to take advantage of their spike weeks.

Yeah I can't go too overboard.

Mahomes + 2
Tua + 2

That's 6 out of 20 spots with a Week 6 bye. I think that's manageable. Even if I wanted to do a 3rd player with either or both of them, that's still less than half my team.

I’d probably add a late 3rd QB like Carr or Dimes. You’re punting 15-20 points of ev by not filling the bye, and with it being early, the chances are higher the QB you take isn’t injured or benched.

If the byes were w14, then I’d say maybe just punt it, since so much can happen by then.

In addition to what newguy posted, when you bet on multiple players from the same offense, it usually means you have to get less right. Or you get everything wrong, and the team is dead anyways.

The starting lineup is QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex. The roster is 18-20 players. You generally take 2-3 QBs, 4-7 RBs, 6-10 WRs, and 2-3 TEs.

Would you rather have WRs from 8 different teams or 2-3 WRs from 3-4 different teams? When you consolidate and stack, you increase your odds of at least one of those WRs having a good game every week, especially when the offense is good. When you only need to start 3, you give yourself a better chance at getting one right each week.

And then you can get ping pong effects too. One week it’s the WR. One week it’s the RB. One week it’s the TE. And generally, your QB is scoring well too. And when you take a QB in a contest that is extremely top heavy, you’re betting on them being very good, which also means the skill positions are scoring well.

Thanks newguy and tarheels. Makes sense.

this stupid pos.

actually this might work out for the best

homeboy above that drafted Love and Tua ended up with 5 QBs lol

got sniped on Watson, Jones, and Maye.

Hyatt was a last round spite pick since the guy that sniped Dimes was next

QB - Pat, Trev

RB - Achane, Najee, Ekeler, Allgeier, Tracy, Dillon

WR - Waddle, Diggs, Rice, Worthy, Jeudy, Gabe, Boyd, Tez, Hyatt

TE - Engram, Henry, Fant

Drafted a dk milly for the first time in a while. The UI is terrible when you get used to UD

Qb - Purdy, Tlaw, Maye

Rb - Monty, Warren, Benson, Lloyd, Bucky, Ceh

Wr - Reek, Adams, Aiyuk, Cooper, Kirk, AD, Legette, Bourne

Te - Kittle, Juwan, Hurst (I forgot I only had 1 te until the last 3 rds)

No judgement, just curious -- did you miss a 1st rounder?

Waddle/Achane are ~R2/early3...guessing you got Diggs & Mahomes after them.

My 1 CMC team goes: CMC, Waddle, Achane, then pound WR, and I love it so far

Nice team although I would've either gone Engram over Kittle if the plan was to get Trevor, or Gabe over AD.

You're good.

This was the team I wanted to stack a bunch of Chiefs and Phins and didn't care too much about ADP as long as I was within a round. I had the 10th pick so just went Achane/Waddle to start.

I have purdy, why wouldn’t I want Kittle?

I actually messed up though I didn’t see Gabe was still available when I took AD

PSA to those who join slows and then travel to jurisdictions where UD isn’t operating.

This guy is SOL and expecting UD to do something about it is hilarious. But I know there are others out there who do this. I get randomly logged out all the time.

It’s also funny because I was joining some slows last night and noticed this guy was in each one. I don’t want to be in the room with the same drafters every time, and I know some drafters mass enter. So I stopped entering and added some more this morning. No offense to him, but wish I had kept joining lol.

This used to work . Well not outside the US but I’d leave my state and enter slows and was able to finish them in my state where UD isn’t allowed .

Yeah, and I think it still works, as long as you don’t get kicked out lol. Might even still be able to log back in if you’re still in the states. Not sure. But once you’re abroad, I guess it’s a different animal.

Ben Gretch has been doing it all season since he lives in Washington state.

Purdy goes after Kittle.

So does Tlaw?
