2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

I agree there. Sorry, my post was specific to that build. I don't think he's a bad pick, just unnecessary when you invest so much for Allen and Mahomes.

ugh I took Chuba completely forgetting I already had Brooks. It's also a rare 7 RB build only because Dillon fell 18 spots past ADP as my final pick.

QB - Jayden, Watson, Dimes

RB - Bijan, Mostert, Brooks, Chuba, Herbert, Estime, AJ

WR - Waddle, Devonta, Flowers, Terry, Jeudy, Wandale, Rondale

TE - Kittle, Njoku, Ertz

Dk milly, not my best team… probably way too weak at rb and not the best at qb

Qb - Stroud, Dimes, JJ

Rb - Warren, Brob, C Brown, Herbert, Tracy, Pierce

Wr - JJ, Nico, Nabers, Dell, Worthy, Gabe, Legette, Tez Walker, Hyatt

Te - Engram, Schultz

Pretty happy with this DK milly entry -- ARSB/JT is going to be rare I hope...got sniped on Dimes (lol) and WR could be stronger (next time I might let Nabers fall to the 4th and take Zay instead & I'd probably go Lockett instead of Courtland, but I like the Wk17 CIN/DEN game) -- I'm getting the hang of things now & I got all the mid/late RBs I wanted --

QB -- Burrow, Caleb, Nix

RB -- JT, Chase Brown, Irving, Tracy, Shipley, Isaac Guerendo, Justice Hill

WR -- ARSB, Nabers, Higgins, McConkey, Sutton, Wandale Robinson, Mims

TE -- McBride, Kittle, Taysom

Bucky as rb3 seems a bit light to me.

I think making 5 mid rd detours at qb/te was maybe too many and caused the rb weakness.

A rare CMC build

QB - Purdy, Caleb, Maye

RB - CMC, Zeke, Chase, Dobbins, Roschon

WR - Aiyuk, Evans, Kirk, Watson, Odunze, Polk, M. Wilson, Malik, Kalif

TE - Kincaid, Henry, Sanders

I like that one.

back to back #1. decided to start with Reek in this one

QB - Tua, Jones, Fields

RB - Henry, Zamir, Zeke, Mitchell, Herbert, AJ

WR - Reek, Nabers, Pickens, Terry, Worthy, Gabe, Downs, Malik

TE - Njoku, Muth, Stover

MMG pick 2.

I wanted to add a 6th RB but RB's were dried up so I went with a falling Jonnu.

QB) Kyler, Love

RB) Achane, Swift, Benson, Dowdle, B Allen,

WR) Lamb, D Smith, Pickens, Watson, Wicks, M Wilson, D Robinson, Z Jones

TE) Mcbride, Musgrave, Jonnu

Nice fall on Pickens. Don’t remember the last time I’ve seen him in the late 4th.

I try to avoid needing a RB in the 18th. It’s ugly, and I don’t really want Sermon, Mattison, etc., even if we get signal they are the clear 2.

Those 5 can work though.

Hmm, UD has decided to fill the last 20% of MMG with slows only. Guess they’re trying to push fast drafters to other contests.

Probably going to be some annoyed people who aren’t paying attention to that note lol. Some drafters despise slow drafts.

Predicted Week 1 starters

DEN - Nix
LV - AOC
MIN - Darnold
NE - Jacoby
PIT - Fields

Week 1 prediction: Brissett will start and may even start the majority of the Patriots' games in 2024 while Maye gets up to speed.

Interesting. I think the Jacoby/Maye stuff has been smoke and mirrors this whole time. Based on all reports, Maye is looking pretty damn good in training camp. I still think it's most likely Jacoby is the week 1 starter, but I think Maye plays sooner than later. Maybe I'm just a biased Heels fan, but there were multiple games, especially Maye's sophomore year, where my opinion was that he was the best QB in college football, especially with regard to his NFL potential.

I'm more worried about Darnold/McCarthy, mainly because I also don't think McCarthy has the same upside as any of the other QBs going in that range, so I've just been avoiding him for the last month. If I'm tacking on a third QB, I'd rather take someone safer like Carr/Dimes or someone with more upside/floor combo like Nix or Maye/Fields who both have more upside.

AOC being the day 1 starter for LV has been my read from the start.

Fields being the prediction here is quite interesting.

My take on Maye is that even if he is better than Jacoby (very likely), the Pats have no reason to rush him out there. The expectations for them are not high this season.

He could still get the start very late in the season which is why I haven't completely faded him.

Agree about Fields. I'm confident he'll be the starter at some point, but thought for sure Russ would start Week 1.

Maybe it's a leak, but my take on these situations is that the more likely the team is to be bad, the quicker the round 1, especially top 5 QB pick, is going to see the field. Unless you think his confidence may just be shattered, the game experience, especially when there is no pressure to win, simply cannot be replaced or simulated. I don't think they want him to be the week 1 starter next year, when the team is ideally more improved, with no NFL game experience.

It's rare we see round 1 QBs sit for a full rookie season, unless the team is really good with a locked in top end starter, a la Rodgers and Love.

The Pats's schedule is daunting.

I think the absolute floor for Maye starting is after their week 14 bye. It does suck that the bye is so late, as that's typically the time for a team to make this kind of change.

With that said, he may not start week 4, but I think after week 3 is when they will start making the preparations, especially if they are 0-3. They're at NYJ for a week 3 Thursday night game, so that gives them 10 days to implement Maye. The only shitty thing is that week 4 is @49ers, which isn't exactly an ideal spot for Maye's first start. Week 5 at home vs Mia seems more reasonable.

It's Madden ratings release week. They're doing different positions groups each day starting with WR and S today.

Could be used as a tie breaker in some situations.

Rookie WRs

MHJ - 79
Nabers - 77
Coleman - 73
Worthy - 75
Ladd - 74
BTJr - 75
Odunze - 76
AD - 72
Polk - 71
Legette - 72
Burton - 70
Pearsall - 73
Roman - 71
Troy - 71
Luke - 70
Corley - 71
McMillan - 70

Madden ratings are typically solid (maybe the only solid thing about the game).

The disparity here is interesting considering their ADPs

Is this a thing ppl actually do? I have never once even thought to look at madden for fantasy.

Is there any predictive data haha?

Idk why people overreact to wide receivers having a bad rookie year . A lot of receivers are bad rookie year .

Because there is a relatively strong correlation that a bad rookie season for WRs equals average to bad career. Especially for guys drafted on days 1 and 2.

And Mims’s season was extra bad, with guys who really aren’t even NFL quality players getting snaps over him.

I still think the Broncos view Mims as mostly a kick return guy that can also play WR.

Last one on DK, I’m going back to bbm on ud

Qb - AR, Dimes, Maye (I know you’re not supposed to stack QBs in the same w17 game, but I missed on too many others)

Rb - Warren, Spears, Javonte, Corum, Lloyd, Tracy

Wr - ARSB, Adams, Smith, Dell, Nuk, AD, Slayton, Hyatt, Bourne

Te - Pitts, Henry

Fun squad. I think w17 game stacking for QBs is less suboptimal when it's a 3 QB build. Maye still gives you outs, even if the Colts/Giants game duds.
