Was it common sense that led you to these conclusions?

Trump is funny.

by Dunyain P

Trump is funny.

Funny as in weird. Funny as in a total moron. Funny as in a clown. Funny as in the butt of every joke. Not funny the way he meant, i.e. witty.

by Dunyain P

The two aren't mutually exclusive. One can be hard on crime, yet corrupt and nepotistic and support criminal allies and family.

This is kind of how most autocratic nations work.

No, autocratic nations work by making the bad stuff leaders do legal. Usually on account of them being leaders, autocracy isn't big on introspection.

And also no, you can't be hard on crime while being a criminal or if you surround yourself with criminal accomplices (or in this case even pardon them!). You might want that be possible so you don't have to question your own ideology, but that does not make it true.

We will have to agree to disagree. The Saudi govt is insanely hard on crime. I am pretty confident most members of the royal family would not be subject to the same laws as everyone else if/when they commit crimes.

Saudi Arabia is a very corrupt country where the right people get away with pretty much anything, so it is a very poor candidate for "tough on crime".

What you are lauding in all your examples (Trump included) is the perception of being tough on crime. And that makes sense, because this is much easier position to hold, as it has no cost and requires no action.

Of course, if we take the discussion one step further then notion that handing the presidency to a convicted criminal whose presidency was mired in crime will somehow reduce crime is fairly ludicrous. You would literally be teaching future generations that crime is acceptable and that you refuse to be tough on it.

I think Duniyan's examples are more about being "tough on crime" when it's certain crimes and they are committed by the right/wrong kinds of people. So, tough on some crime, which is of course what that phrase almost always means.

That seems like a fair interpretation, but I'd very much argue that "selectively against certain crimes if done by the wrong people" is a not at all "tough on crime".

Funny in how he trolls neurotic liberals.

This is a strange discussion.

Trump is convicted criminal who during his presidency pardoned his political accomplices for crimes they were convicted of. He is obviously not "hard on crime" and nor is anyone who votes for him.

He's hard on violent crime.

He is hard on crimes we care most about like illegal border crossing, car jackings, robberies, rape, murder etc.

Mong, you are so bad you are like a caricature of a MAGA cultist. I know you don't know what "caricature" means, but don't worry about it. It's a compliment.

by mongidig P

He's hard on violent crime.

Are you a big fan of his repeatedly stated idea of executing drug dealers?

by mongidig P

Funny in how he trolls neurotic liberals.

His sense of humour appeals to people whose mental development stalled around the age of 11. You can also consider that a compliment.

I actually agree that Trump is "funny", although mostly unintentionally.

He might be the greatest poster of all time. Tweets like "washed up psycho Bette Midler!", "Graydon Carter's Oscar Party is no longer 'hot'!", and "Tedious Smokey the Bear commercials!" are all evergreen tweets.

I really think he should power through whatever is keeping him posting on his own dumb site and get back on Twitter. That alone would bump him up a point or two.

I would put that into the "funny like a clown" category.

Yeah, that's fair. Those tweets aren't jokes, per se, they're entertaining examples of his ridiculous personality. I don't know; I count it.

He's hard on violent crime.

Less so when the violent criminal is a true believer.

I was watching the production quality on some of her tiktok releases and I was thinking they were prepping for this for a while as well. Probably working it behind the scenes before the official announcement so they could come out hot. It wouldn't even surprise me if Biden held out just long enough to get people so riled up that Kamala Harris suddenly seemed like Barak Obama.

by lozen P

Very good take on it lets not forget that Tulsi Gabbard destroyed her in the debate . They knew she was going to be the candidate 1 hour after the debate . Lets also add she made her career jumps on her knees, Though Trump will not go there yet either

I heard she has never been to Europe and that is why the border czar never went to the border after saying we have been to the border

I really didn't at the time and still don think tulsi was the reason she dropped, funding was low, she got a boost prior to that but still was 4th , i think , idk if she ran in iowa since pete got like 10% of vote iirc and he finished 4th i believe.

she was lways uphill.

the reason I always said biden > harris is because at least biden still talked about policies and seemed to have a plan, I legitimately remember harris having absolutely no ****ing policy debate or plan when she was debating, it was more very eloquent offensive attacks and talkign about her record her own but when it came to certian subject in debates she was very bull compared to biden and sanders and warren, those 3 really talked policy while hte others were really really blanks

I would love to hear more policy talk from harris but from what ive seen so far, its jut been, righfully so for her campaign, just attacks on trump.

i would really like to get in the weeds and hear her talk policy, i actually have heard trump talk more about policy than harris in the last 3 months wrt trump wanting to leave things to states which is dogshit wrt abortion and we understand his angle for immigration

shes got a ton of flair and offensive capability in speech but this may be the first time in my lifetime we have 2 candidates that legit are very shallow with policy, because they dont need to be. i wish we get 2 debates because I want to hear more concise answers from both

i really do believe biden RIGHT NOW clears both trump and harris when it comes to talking about policy and his vision. just so happend the republicans are running a candidate where the opposition literally doesn't really need to share their overall vision if they dont want to or cant since attacking them head on is the way smarter play

This is a great example of how the Overton window has shifted.

Do you know who presidents, and presidential candidates, should be trolling? Aside from maybe their opponents...no ****ing one. The idea that this would be a reason to admire him is...SAD.

I do not know who "we" refers to, but "you" obviously do not care about these things either, as Trump has a history of sexual assault.

We care about what is happening now. Under Liberal leadership cities are becoming unlivable because of the crime. This country is becoming more and more immoral. It's time to focus on family values. Under Harris that clearly won't happen.

Pick a better candidate next time.

You would agree that crime is out of control right now right?

Ah yes, Donald Trump, the family values candidate. Another zinger from mong.

I suppose it's hard to find the humor when you are the one being made fun of.
