Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!
WPT Global is the real-money online poker business of the World Poker Tour, and we’re about to celebrate our two-year anniversary, having launched in April 2022. After such a short time, we’re already the third-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).
We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.
WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
- Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
- The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by highly skilled professionals. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't’ believe me, just try them and see for yourself).
- We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.
- There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.
- Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).

Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network...’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

What countries is WPT Global available in?
Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so later this year). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you!

How does the ecology management system work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?
Our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games without having to penalise winners.
In cash games, our AI technology measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.
We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that highly-skilled pros can only occupy two seats.
Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as a pro, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since our ecology management system ensures that only one other pro can sit with you.
The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as a pro, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.
We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both pros and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and pros can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!
What’s with the games in CNY currency?
Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

They charge jackpot preflop since I play on WPTG ( And I really didnt find a formula how) sometimes 0.5bb other time 1bb
This is what I found, 1bb goes into jp for each 20bb+ win. 20bb win seems to be the cap, but it’s not the case for us now. I think having to pay for jp while never being able to get jp on that kind of hand is a bit much for us, and counting with every other rake and fees this is a significant amount.

Hiding games to soften the pool is fine, but don't rob the RB too for regs that sometimes find a unhidden game. The lobby is ridiculous with all regs open sitting for hours just to get 1 game going. This is already bad in 10/20/40 with 5 regs open sitting. HS is even more absurd as games fire even slower than ever, games hidden from regs or not running at all. Regs are getting skeptical to even sit in HS as if they downer they dont even know when is the next time they can get in a game to recover their losses. This is either a) reg quits or b) regs start going the buner route to grind unhidden games while maximizing their RB (i.e. hurts the ecoystem even more)
20% RB is not generous at all considering the amount of time regs have to sit there idle, recs hit and run, games start and end fast. If they really care about the ecosystem and security they need to prioritize those regs with a lot of hands to receive higher RB than those using burners to maximize their profits + getting max RB before fairgame AI takes place

From my experience playing on WPTG what usually happen's is the following; table has 2-3 recs and table is full, one leave, sometimes two, there's some empty seat, before the regs that are on this table would keep playing because they understand it's gonna fill up and get better and the game is still beatable with rakeback. Now everybody instantly leave's, game's break, less table, less hand played, less rake paid
There is NO table 8/8 at the moment at this time at 25/50/100 or higher. I don't remember when is the last time I saw this on WPT.
Even if you rollback this greedy decision a lot of players that were filling the games and not winning or losing that much won't come back. It's creating an ecology where all the top regs will keep playing and winning without rakeback, recs will keep sitting but there's gonna be less and less table. You can expect regulars starting game go near to 0 as well since there's no point playing a HU table for 1 hour paying 30bb/100 rake and getting 20% back (one of the stupidest thing i've seen tbh) How on hell do you think it's worth it? At least don't charge rake HU to those wo players if your gonna go that route.
I'm trying to put myself in your shoes and don't understand your stand on this. it's complete nonsense and it's just gonna hurt your bottom line and chase player's away.

No, none of this is correct. The change is that we are not paying commission to affiliates for NLHE and Short Deck activity where the player is tagged as an expert at the stakes in question. In turn, those affiliates will likely reduce or remove rakeback for some of their players. So any player that is tagged as an expert will not take rakeback right?, it's mean all of us not just 10%?
I noticed just now all of a sudden games became unhidden to HSP? Is this some kind of trap to make regs pay rake while not getting RB from not opening tables?
Alex can you confirm this? I noticed all of a sudden today all my games are unfiltered(before I was labeled HSP) does this mean I am getting my full RB back? How do we know if we are a HSP or not if games are now unfiltered???

No they open tables again but not 100%. Anyway 25-50-100 is ghost town right now.
Hi, I've got questions regarding the table starter rakeback:
1. It has been mentioned that starting a table would also give rakeback on other tables we are playing. Is this true? If true, does this work across multiple stakes/cyn/USD?
2. How can we track if we "triggered" table to get that rakeback? It there any way to track? Symbol or anything?
3. Lately I started having connection isseus only with WPT, sometimes i DC and sitout. If i sitout from a table that I've helped start and sitback in, how can i check im still getting rakeback?
4. This is related to 3rd question, i get dced and i lose a spot on the table i helped start. If i return to this table later on, do i continue getting rakeback?

I noticed that the HSP label/filter has been removed today. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a good idea. You need to reconsider who will be the one that keeps your field and your environment alive.
I remember when I was playing on PokerTime. Just after a year, from a very crowded field, it went dead. There were only 2 or 3 tables left in the mid/high field, all full of regs with 7/7 same stat. This will happen if you don't protect recreational players.
In the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that only the 25/50/100 field has faced a slight reduction in volume, yet it was still very active at certain hours. At this stake, recreational players will run out of money quickly due to the highest-skilled regulars. Even now, with the restriction removed for half a day, only 2 tables are running, one is about to break.
It’s hard to keep this stake active since it runs around recreational players.
Regarding the rakeback, instead of cutting off the full amount, you could reduce it to an acceptable rate. Getting less rakeback in favor of a seat in a softer field is not too bad, but if you take away all their rakeback, they will definitely protest.
I do hope that you will finalize all this mess soon.

PokerTime was riddled with cheating though as all of those apps ended up being given a long enough time frame. Recreational players aren't stupid and many would be advised by the agents who are honest that they are going to get fleeced on one platform and would point them somewhere where they have a better chance.
I'm not sure what the recent change regarding opening all the tables seems to be but I'm hopeful they can implement a modified system which prevents abuse.
Hello, since the agents boycott the platform from 1st of august, the traffic went down so they took an admistrative decision to show all tables to all players, because now it is not good for buisness for new regulars to see only 0/8 tables all day long, and probably hope that transparency might help the burner situation.
Nice try Alex, when do you have time and if you are willing, can we talk about the biggest problem on the platform : accounts seeing other players hands when playing, are you informed about them and what is their purpose on the platform? Feel free to ignore this question as well since you went silencio stampa with me past weeks.

So all of sudden, there is someone who demands the reimplantation of the table hiding system who spoke nothing to adjust it before. But now when all the tables appear again, you right away give some suggestions about how to protect recreational players in 25/50/100+.
Let me make my educational guess, you should be someone who benefits a lot from the filter system. And who benefit the most from it? They are the people that abuse burner accounts the most to suddenly increased their winrate when other HSP cannot join the table while they spam 20+ accounts per month. And with all the tables are open again to everybody, they lost their advantages of spamming new accounts to go bumb hunting on table that other HSPs are restricted to.
And I think I have a good idea of how people like you are spamming burner accounts but because for now you guys cannot do anything more to abuse the system I will not publicly share about it yet. But I'm sure with you, once the filter is on again I can post a detailed schedule of you guys and spot every account that you would create and how to catch you bunch along with your affiliate. So nice try, keep spamming more requests about how the reimplantation of the filter system with more clone accounts on 2p2 like exactly you do that with WPTG accounts.
