Moderation Questions and General Chat Thread

Moderation Questions and General Chat Thread

The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.

This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.

Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.

Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.

So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.

Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.

So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.

We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.

Thanks.

don't think i've ever seen anyone as afraid of anything as luciom is of the word marxist. it's even under his bed and in the closet at night, sad

When it comes to the idea of “misgendering” someone by using bio-sex-gender pronouns, you are biased on this issue one way or the other. There is no neutrality.

The fact that the mods, who are clearly biased toward the woke religion, are still willing to allow pushback against the claims of trans activists, shows at some level an awareness that their bias is based on shallow sentiments. This should be encouraging rather than completely demor

what's the woke religion? are there churches and a bible? who's da pope?

by Victor P

you have Marxism backwards btw. they dont care for the wokeism and identity crap of the Dems.

No, you have it backwards - you obviously haven't been paying attention to Luciom's explanations of what Marxism is and isn't and who is and isn't a Marxist.

Sounds like religion is a bad thing, and we should have less of all flavours of it. Agree?

How’s this strategy working out? True secular rationalism hasn’t been tried?

Perhaps secularity has been dependent on a particular religious foundation the entire time. Perhaps this foundation needs to evolve rather than be dispensed with.

Holding certain identities related to race, sexual orientation, and gender as sacred - I find this a useful definition of Woke religion.

I am just questioning your use of "woke religion". It seems to imply that you recognise "wokeism" as a mistaken ideology, and you are figuratively calling it a "religion" because its adherents believe in it in the absence of proof, and you recognise this as misguided.

sa·cred
/ˈsākrəd/
adjective
connected with God (or the gods) or dedicated to a religious purpose and so deserving veneration.
"sacred rites"
synonyms: holy, hallowed, blessed, blest, consecrated, sanctified, dedicated, venerated, revered

that seems to be taking it too far. think people just are what they are, and want bigots to leave them alone

actually seems to be projection here (as usual); conservative straight white men believing that they're superior to all others. divine

It’s misguided because it’s misaligned with individuation as I’ve already stated. Moral progress is the hero’s journey. The gender journey is a false substitute.

The current left projects aspects of the hero’s journey into the social domain instead of individuating. I’ve already highlighted a few instances - the savior, the advocate, the sacred victim, the soul.

I criticize the left mainly from the left because the left is supposed to lead humanity through the actual hero’s journey. First, the left needs to be told no until they stop projecting it into social and political spaces.

Traditionally, projection of the hero’s journey has been contained within designated religious spaces like churches or done in private. Eventually, all projection externally needs to be denied, even in churches, so the individual will turn inward privately and individuate. Instead, the left has expanded projection into every area of social and political life.

Inasmuch as I was able to parse a word of this, it addresses exactly none of what I wrote. You realise dailogue involves actually responding to your interlocutor, not just spewing some random stream of consciousness nonsense about spirituality that you dreamed up every time it's your turn to speak, right?

who supposedly put you in charge anyway?

You define religion narrowly and disagree woke is a religion, fine. Do you think sterilizing and performing gender surgery on minors is rational?

Craig, take it to the trans thread. It’s enough in here. Thanks.

And axiomatic leftism is the current dominant religion in the west, and as such, the current worst enemy (=biggest threat to) of freedom of thought and action (IE of anything that gives value to human life over animals).

The dominant "religion" in the West has been materialism/consumerism and I really have no idea what rubbish you've been reading that's caused your brain to decay so much.

Also inb4 "yeah but Marx was all about dialectical materialism"

What we appear to have here is a failure to communicate, caused by your refusal or inability to parse the words that I am writing.

1. I did not comment on whether woke is a religion or not.
2. I pointed out you used "religion" in a context where your use of it would imply it is a bad thing.
3. I asked you if you agree that religion is in fact a bad thing.

Simple stuff, sport. Try to answer the question that is asked without going on a 15,000 mile detour. Bonus points if you are able to achieve this task without using the word "individuation".

I’m not going to follow someone into unproductive dialogue. I care about solving problems. You seem to be only interested in trolling and temporary amusement.

Not true, I'm also open to suggestions for permanent amusement.

Just don't look or act surprised when/if we manage to come back in power and completely dismantle the horrors you guys tried to insert in our society.

We will have no mercy if we have a chance

Luciom, seriously. Enough of whatever that is.

ok benito

Some of you are just so intent on charging headlong into permas. I don’t get it, honestly.

And I thought it was bad guys with guns and the military industrial complex. Who knew it was pronouns and civility.
