ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

i just always imagine this is the exact post of someone previously fighting desegregation. just insert the different terms in and you've got a carbon copy.. lol.

the forcing schools to out kids is just a cruel new version of satanic panic. lol. if your child feels safer confiding in their teacher about that then that's your failings as a parent. but i get it, much like the new idaho law about a similar subject, it's really to protect fami

Progressives wee right about something a long time ago so any progressive attempt to dramatically change society disregarding the constitution is right!

No lol.

Doesn't matter what you think about parental rights about information, we both have our positions.

What matters is what the median voter in purple states or purple districts think about it, and you know they lean more toward my position than yours. That's because you said it's a political loss, a stupid choice, to focus on these topics for us.

Instead you know it can work which is why you are pissed that we bring it to the forefront any chance we have.

Youngkin won a very tight race for governor in 2021 going allin on parental rights for example

i'm not playing some 4d chess. i think it's a losing position. i want republicans to keep being weird about this stuff. youngkin road a wave of racism with made up boogeyman of CRT. he wouldn't win the same election today.

He might lose this time (we'll see in 2025) mostly because people deep hatred toward democrats who violently forced young kids to wear suffocating masks for many hours per day faded, the short memory dynamic is unfortunately very real.

But parental right stuff worked in that purple state.

Yeah, I think most right wingers will want to forget how optimistic they were after Youngkin won and how the midterm would be historically red.

exaggerate much?

Yeah, I think most right wingers will want to forget how optimistic they were after Youngkin won and how the midterm would be historically red.

Midterms were ****ed up in the Senate by bad candidate choices in some specific races.

Youngkin-like people would have won and you know that.

House was won as per expectations, although through a different path than the expected one (huge gains in NYS making up for some silly mistakes elsewhere).

Still +2.8% popular vote in the house, nothing to scoff at (and something that nullifies some of the stuff you have been saying recently on republicans)

Sometimes I think maybe mankind would be better off in the long run if we had a much worse pandemic and all the stupids just died and we start over again.

Hmm. Speaking of "extinctionism" (is that a real word?), chillrob has been AWOL for a bit.

I will wager any amount you care to that he will not even be on the ballot in 2025.

given I don't underestimate your intelligence, the way you are wording this means I am missing something about him, that he doesn't want or can't run in 2025 for whatever reason so no I won't take that bet.

edit: I checked and in Virginia you can't run for 2 consecutive terms (???) so well played, thanks for teaching me, I'll remember better this way

went too far imo.. needed to just say that he wont win. you're giving away the game saying he won't even be on the ballot.

ye but I learnt something this way

I actually have no interest in making message board bets. Just pointing out that the Colonel doesn't always care to have facts when he posts.

No $h!t !

Corporal really earning his lira in his forum

Although I bet he only accepts euro cuz of course he ****ing does

The attempt is at criminalizing. You can't yet in the USA but where people like you can, they criminalize it, like in Canada and the UK.

Nope. I doubt it is in the UK either, but I don't have first hand knowledge either way.

I'm not surprised you believe this, though. You spend so much time trying to be an "expert" at everything, I don't imagine your Googling takes you much past the first result you find that backs up your preconceived notions, and there were some obviously incorrect articles about Canada criminalizing incorrect use of pronouns. And of course a couple of posters here tried peddling the same nonsense.

This. And we see it bleeding through here, of course, as a few posters who have been soaking in the right wing derposphere too long seem to think that bringing the transgender version of culture wars to other threads is a productive use of time.

Sometimes I think maybe mankind would be better off in the long run if we had a much worse pandemic and all the stupids just died and we start over again.

Well, you're in luck. We learned few lessons from the pandemic. The risk of a bird flu pandemic is rising, given that we see few to no new regulations for farming practices, few lessons learned for biosafety and an increasing breakdown in international cooperation. As a result, outbreaks are now pretty common.

Covid-19 could be denied and ignored by many, since it was usually just someone else's uncle or grandma that croaked as a result of being careless. This also removed the appearance of responsibility. With bird-flu, we're just waiting for a virus to mutate into transmitting more easily. If we assume such a mutation would keep the near 50% death rates in humans that we have seen from bird flu this far, I suspect the conflict between deniers and the rest of the population would be less civil this time around.

Pretty much all of this is wrong, but R +2.8% is a really bad result for a first midterm under a new POTUS. Clinton was R+ 6.8%, Obama R +6.8%, Trump D+8.6%. The only recent one they beat was the anomalous post 9/11 midterm under Bush with a radically different Republican party and election issues which ended up D-4.8%. But that came crashing down in Bush's 2nd midterm with D+8%.

You unwittingly proved my point. No right winger would have taken R+3% or lower right after the Youngkin win. They were talking about a massive wave. They ended up with a large under performance because they focused on weird, radical issues like CRT, gender obsession and election trutherism that alienated tons of normal people.

What is there to dog whistle about?
I live in europe, you dont know how bad it is, I imagine you’re in a comfy little suburb in some podunk town feeling good about your platitudes, how many illegals/refugees are you currently housing?

I live in London, which is both in Europe and not a suburb. I have no idea what you're talking about.
