2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

If I'm taking 2 QBs in the first 10 rounds then I'm going 0 TE. Same if I go 2 TEs, then I'll go 0 QB.

From 1.09

QB - Purdy, Baker, Penix

RB - Mixon, Singletary, Moss, Gibson, Dillon, Sanders

WR - AJB, Deebo, Aiyuk, Flowers, Jamo, AD, McMilan, Zaccheus

TE - Pitts, Kmet, Musgrave

Mega w17 stack with Det/SF. Probably went a little overboard with both TEs, but went for it in a Puppy. RB needs some help lol.

Purdy, Herbert

Brooks, Singletary, Zeke, Davis, Gibson, Shipley, Bigsby

ARSB, Deebo, Aiyuk, Worthy, Ladd, Dortch, Wan'Dale

LaPorta, Kittle

Accidentally auto'd Purdy in the 9th, but probably not much difference between backs there and Singletary since I had planned to take RB in the 9th and Purdy in the 10th. Maybe

ARSB/Deebo/Aiyuk/Laporta/Kittle is a beautiful start. That week 17 game should be a shootout even though you only have .00000000014% chance of getting there.......Just kidding!

I don't mind doubling down on elite players at the expense of taking an RB like you did with Kittle. We all are gonna need to get lucky with a late round RB to win this. You got my boy Shipley.

You only have two guy's on your team at risk of being zeros with Ship and Tank and I like both of them this year.

What about double both? Haha

Puppy pick 2.

The big decision point for me was in round 9. I could have taken a solid number two RB but I just couldn't pass on Dak. Is Lamar/Dak over kill? They are both capable of having monster games and also floor games. I could have gone Pollard, Spears, Robinson here instead, then grab somebody like Geno later.

We seem to have more late round RB options. I think Shipley may be my boy. I decided to throw some darts late at a fragile

I’ve built quite a few 2-7-7-2 teams. I generally like how they turn out. My rule is that if I have 5 WRs through 7, I do my best to stop at 7.

Although this RB room could be strong enough you could have done 2-6-8-2, I don’t see any issue with the way this is built.

I have my fair share of RB/RB, but have definitely favored going hero or zero RB.

I do think 1/350 is pretty low exposure to a strategy that can still work. It just won BBM in 2022.

I wish I could see exactly how many drafts I've gone RB/RB to start. Personally I'd like to be around 15%-20%

I too favor hero or zero RB. I am very concerned that we have over valued the RBs in the rounds 8-12 range. I see legit bust potential for everyone of these RBs. On paper zero RB starts look great but that can change quickly once the season starts. This could be the year that early RBs smash and several late round WRs are what you needed. I have very few RB/RB starts but I am open now to doing it. I have a decent amount of RB/WR/Kyren starts.

I am nervous that the answer to Zeke or Dowdle is neither. The same with Moss or Brown. The same with the Chargers RBs. The same with Bronco RBs

R Stevenson and Z White could end up 20 rush for 60 yard and no TD guys on horrible teams.

T Benson and B Corum could end up being nothing more that handcuffs.

Zero RB is probably the way to go. It still allows for flexibility to make pivots.

The thing is, most of your teams are going to be dead either way.

Would you rather healthy Bijan and Michael Wilson or would you rather JJ and Allgeier in the scenarios where Bijan gets hurt?

One of those teams needs an IRL third round second year WR to way over perform. The other team just needs something that happens to RBs all the time; an injury.

And even if Bijan doesn’t get injured, Allgeier won’t be a pure zero.

I still think chasing RB chaos and WR skill is the most upside way to play. But it certainly doesn’t feel comfortable when you think about the potential of guys like JT, Kyren, Pacheco, etc.

What does everyone think of Mike Clay?

Checking out his top 300 PPR, and he definitely favors RBs. He's got 5 in the first round.

CMC, Breece, and Bijan are his top 3, and then JT and Saquon are 9 and 10.

This could play out any number of ways. I still prefer getting my WR's early. I'm just more open to going RB/RB. I especially like doing it now while I can capture some falling WR's value like Addison, Hopkins, Hollywood, Pickens. Also, RBs are being picked earlier with the casuals coming in. There have been some nice WR values to be had. If I get Breece and JT falls I like it. CMC with Achane, Kyren, or Barkley is nice. It does limit your flexibility but it could also be exactly what you need to take down one of these contests.

Puppy pick 1.

I go RB/RB. I'm gonna need somebody after Kyren to step up. The bet is CMC and Kyren eat all year. I'd feel better with a better number 3 but it could work.

I was hoping to grab Dimes but he went earlier than normal.

QB) Daniels, Lawrence

RB) CMC, Kyren, Allgeier, B Allen, D Pierce, Estime

WR) Nabers, Higgins, Pickens, BTJR, AD Mitchell, M Williams, D Douglas, L McCaffery.

TE) Kittle, Bowers

That’s a fun team. Got all of the upside you needed at the other positions. Big upside behind CMC and Kyren too, if things break.

Both Pat and Liam won BBM with RB/RB starts. This board is crazy compared to this season. 10 RBs in the first round. RB24 drafted at the top of round 6.

Fareed started with 5 straight WRs and won on a 6 RB build where Mattison was his first RB taken. Late round Kyren, Chuba, and Mostert were his keys to BBM4. 8th round Conner helped too.

.5 PPR 12 team
QB/2RB/2WR/2 flex/TE

Keep up to 3 players (player, price out of $300 auction budget):

hurts 10
raheem mostert 8
zamir white 8
mike evans 21

I'm leaning hurts, mostert & evans.

I’m going back and forth between zamir and mostert. Both can be kept for $8 this year and I’d have the option to them for 1 or 2 more years at $10 and $13. What are our thoughts?

I think I'd go Mostert. Shared backfield and always injury concerns but just such a more dynamic, higher scoring offense but easy to argue either way I guess.

Going WR early and nailing the late RB's is probably the blueprint to winning this.

I think Pat's win should have an asterisk by it since the Bills/Bengals game was cancelled.

I like watching him on Fantasy Football Now each week during the regular season. I watch it mainly for the injury updates to help me set my lineups in my re-draft and dynasty leagues. He also makes appearances on ESPN Bet and seems to have decent insights there. He definitely puts in the work to back up his views.

By contrast, BDGE PPR rankings start Tyreek, Lamb, ARSB, Bijan, Breece, CMC. JT is 12th and Saquon is 16th.

I watch a half dozen guys on YouTube. Everyone is an expert and have different opinions. But it's their job to pump out content. I try to digest it the best I can and make my own decisions.

Puppy pick 4.

This is another one where I went RB early.

I feel pretty good with the balance of this team.

I reached a bit on Ekeler because I wanted a guy who is gonna get points early on with Barkley and Kyren having early byes.

I timed out and auto picked Boyd. I was trying grab Nix and then get Dulcich round 18.

Lamb is going 4th or 5th a good bit now.

QB) Dak, Bryce

RB) Barkley, Kyren, Ekeler, Chandler, Lloyd

WR) Lamb, Flowers, Kirk, D Johnson, JSN, Cooks, Legette, Boyd

TE) Njoku, Muth, Parkinson

I'm calling it. Dayton Wade Undrafted rookie WR for Baltimore is this years Tank Dell. He's been on my radar for a couple weeks and had a nice game today with 2/67 and a TD. He is my first "I need to get him at the end of every draft guy".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpaHenrf...

I get it. He is way down the depth chart. He is probably more a round 20 Puka type pick on DK.

Same.

I've run a few drafts using free rankings from FantasyPros and RotoGrinders. I'll probably make a couple using Mike Clay's rankings this weekend.

But for the most part I've mostly focused on my own research and methodologies this year.

I already said I'd focus on smaller buy-ins if I don't win big (at least $5k). In addition I'll probably also get a sub to something like ETR or FTN.

The list of undrafted WRs that actually had success is a short one. Welker, Theilen, Jakobi, Rod Smith.

He was listed as the 13th best undrafted WR in this year's draft class.

I'd need to hear something from Harbaugh to show or hint that he's going to be part of the rotation before drafting him. It's not like he's going to shoot up the board if they say he's going to be the WR4/5.

Also take this with a grain of salt or ignore it completely. But every player drafted in the last 2 BBM winning lineups had a Madden launch rating. Even last season, Kyren Williams in there with his lowly 65.

Dayton Wade has no rating.

Xavier Worthy stop making catches. Please and thank you.

Xavier Worthy stop making catches. Please and thank you.

Rashee Rice needs to stop as well. I grabbed both in my latest.

This may be the youngest WR group ever.

Puppy pick 11

QB) Dak, Rodgers

RB) JT, B Robinson, Moss, Elliot, Irving, Estime

WR) Harrison, Dell, Rice, Worthy, Odunze, Polk, Losivas, and introducing Dayton Wade.

TE) Ferguson, Conklin

I think the moral of the story is that I still don’t have enough Mahomes.

I might take 100% Chiefs from here on out.

I think I'm gonna target Rice and Worthy heavily. They look unstoppable. Kelce will be fine but might leave us wanting more. Hollywood might be the odd man out(MVS).
