2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Yeah 2nd is definitely ambitious.

$50 says Fields gets the start by Week 10 (@ WAS)

$50 says Akers finishes higher than Nwangwu in fantasy.

We can use PosRank from ProFootballReference.

Im a gambler I like both odds how say should we do the bet ? Escrow? Or just friendly reminders

Rice is a completely viable Wr2, the problem is that he was going way later in much of the season.

I still like drafting him bc while it’s true that teams have better prices on him, a decent amount of those tms likely have worse prices on Hollywood, additionally as we’re getting closer to the season most of those teams likely do not have some of the emerging value plays and are also much more likely to have 0s, which is the one

I wholeheartedly agree on the rice is a 2nd round pick if not suspended but those teams that drafted and have that value you’re speaking on because they were a little sharper, you will have to contend with those teams. It leaves you undermanned a bit

Reminders are fine.

To confirm I like

Fields to start by Week 10 (@ WAS)

Cam Akers to finish higher than Kene Nwangwu in fantasy.

Each for $50

Perfect good luck to you as well from the start it looks like both bets could be dead lock but this is a sweet bet for both

Anyone have any openings for a fantasy league $100-200? Or want to do a league that is in that range.

Btw dumb question of the day? How important is draft position in a draft? Is there a wide gap between having the 1 and 24 picks vs say the 12 and 13 pick in a snake draft? I always feel
It stinks to get lower pick bc you have to pick lower but I assume it’s not a crucial determination to whether you win a league or not. Just have to change draft strategy correct? Derpy point of year- it always seems like there are a few players that have break out years and if you can draft them and get that extra stat points from them- you can do well. There are always guys 50-100 that will over perform and hitting on a few can easily make your team or break it players perform poorly. Wonder what thoughts are here on the luck of the draw in regards to draft pick variance.

In a draft and I wanted to try only drafting a QB or TE in the first 10 rounds if they fell past ADP.

Got Mahomes at 48 and Pitts at 72

Would you be open to auction ? I won’t escrow but I wouldn’t mind organizing an auction .

I’ve taken a few third round Rashee shares today. I apologize to everyone for the steam.

Do any of you play on Drafters? I'm thinking of grabbing my $100 bonus and doing their 15 dollar tournament instead of BBM. It sounds like it may over lay. Plus it sounds like a nice change of pace to do a season points league.

I did 2 drafts but I’m not a fan .

I fired some of the $2 early in draft season and also didn’t care for the format compared to the playoff style.

I also didn’t like the interface. It’s worse than DK.

First time playing best ball surivor on underdog, basically 8/10 advance first 7 weeks then the payout starts
when playing this type of bball
should I start off 3 wr?
Would you pick Chase, Bhall or Bjon as your first pick when those 3 are left? Goal is to make it to week 7 when the payouts start

Also if you had 4th pick would you take browns wr on lions over Jefferson or chase to secure that safe floor for first 7 weeks?

This is my first Flock of the night. The structure is 1/12 1/2 1/2 with a finals of a hundred. I love how if you win your pod you have a very legit chance to advance to the finals. I feel like grabbing an elite QB and an Elite TE makes sense in a situation where it will be heads up week 15 and 16. I also feel like having a balanced roster is good in this structure. I was hoping to grab Goedert but he was picked way early so I have an unstacked Hurts.

Olave is starting to fall to round 3. I never understood his early second ADP but I'll take him here.

I'm taking the dip with Downs hoping my other guys can step up until he is ready.

Tim Patrick has had a good camp and was possibly the Broncos best receiver before his injuries.

QB) Hurts, Lawrence

RB) Achane, Brooks, J Williams, Ford, Allgeier, Lloyd

WR) ARSB, Olave, Worthy, BTJR, Downs, Losivas, Patrick, Hyatt

TE) Kittle, Conklin

1.12 only has 2 WRs thru 10 rounds so far

Drafted 5 bbms today and Rice went in the 3rd in 100% of them (including 2 by me)

Had a chance to grab Rice in the 4th, but went with Flowers for the correlation once I knew I wasn't getting Mahomes anyways.

I was good with a 2QB/2TE build, but I already had Legette and then Otton and Bryce both fell quite a bit.

Back to the well with Guerendo. Sounds like Shanny is hopeful he'll be able to practice this week and play in their final pre-season game.

QB - Stroud, Trevor, Bryce

RB - ETN, Pollard, Ekeler, Dobbins, Pierce, Guerendo

WR - Wilson, Nico, Flowers, Kirk, Mooney, Legette, Boyd, Ainais

TE - Ferguson, Schultz, Otton

by skillivey P

Also if you had 4th pick would you take browns wr on lions over Jefferson or chase to secure that safe floor for first 7 weeks?

This contest is deceptively ceiling driven. The weekly elimination rates look floor driven, and if your primary goal is to min cash and see what happens, that’s fair. But if you want the most win ev, chasing ceiling is what matters most.

His 9th pick was Kmet

Chiefs are really rising

DK Milly from 1.11

I was trying to decide between Godwin and Reed, and then timed out and got Pitts.

QB - Mahomes, Carr, Nix

RB - Najee, Singletary, Dobbins, Chuba, Laube, Shipley

WR - MHJ, Deebo, Rice, Hollywood, Doubs, Shaheed, Wandale, Franklin, Means

TE - Andrews, Pitts

The fantasy market has finally made some decent adjustments. Olave, Adams, Aiyuk going in the early second was silly. Now they are all starting to go in the third where they belong. Cooper Kupp is going late second where he belongs. Diggs, Flowers and Pittman are starting to slide to the 4th which makes sense.

Jefferson is starting to go around pick 7 which sounds about right. I've seen him go as late as 10.

Jalen Hurts falling to the late 4th and sometimes early 5th is nonsense. Josh Allen going first over all in the third is probably an instant team death sentence.

Rice going in the late third makes sense from a player value stand point. If you are playing in a big contest you better make it up by grabbing some falling players like Hopkins, Addison, Warren etc. It's tough to compete with those who grabbed Rice several rounds earlier. I have a few teams where I was able to get Kelce/Mahomes/ Worthy/Rice. I may have been the first person to do the 3/4 Kelce/Mahomes thing. I did it a few months ago and I'm sure people thought I was crazy at the time. I didn't see anybody do it until about a month later.

Here are the teams with new OCs along with their most recent 2 year history as an OC, and any positions on their teams that finished top 15 in fantasy.
