2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Such a frustrating draft. Got repeatedly sniped at QB then got sniped on Carr 14 picks ahead of ADP and timed out to pick otton…

Qb - Purdy, Herbert

Rb - R White, Brob, Ford, Chandler, Kendre

Wr - CD, Olave, Aiyuk, Cooper, Keon, McMillan, QJ, B Rice

Te - Kincaid, Njoku, Otton

First 3 rds of my 16tm guillotine slow draft, think it went well

1. Bijan over CD, Chase, Breece
2. Waddle over Aiyuk, D Smith, Nabers, Kupp
3. Kupp over Nabers, D Smith, Hurts, Laporta

Glad I took rb early bc RBs flew off the board. Someone took ETN/Jacobs on the back half of the board

The fantasy market has finally made some decent adjustments. Olave, Adams, Aiyuk going in the early second was silly. Now they are all starting to go in the third where they belong. Cooper Kupp is going late second where he belongs. Diggs, Flowers and Pittman are starting to slide to the 4th which makes sense.

Jefferson is starting to go around pick 7 which sounds about right. I've seen him go as late as 10.

Jalen Hurts falling to the late

I find it easier to stack Burrow, Higgins and/ or Jamar Chase (any combo and sometimes all 3). I’ve been able to do that in a few best ball tourneys. If Burrow stays healthy that could be a winning stack.

I've got a few of those.

One thing I remember hearing earlier, but don't remember seeing any actual data is that it's supposedly -EV to stack a QB with their WR1 and WR2.

If you get a WR1, then it's better to stack with RB, TE, or WR3-4

Again, no idea if that's actually true.

It depends on price of those players and situation.

1st and 4th + 8 or 9 for Chase + Higgins + Burrow is completely fine / good

Generally speaking 2 early players is almost always fine, 3 (i.e Hill + Waddle + Achane) early is almost for sure bad

The higher the draft capital, the less attractive. Burrow not being a rusher helps too.

I’ve never been into AJB/DeVonta/Hurts in the first 3-4 rounds.

Don’t like pairing Reek and Waddle together either.

Has anyone been able to do that stack?

A lot of ppl were doing it when Achane was going in the early 3rd

I havenÂ’t read anything about stacking QB with WR 1 and WR 2 as - EV. But I would like to do research on that.

I feel like Cincy doesnÂ’t utilize their TEs as much and Mike Gesicki hasnÂ’t shown that he can rack up catches or even be a TD dependent TE like a Hunter Henry or Dallas Goedert for example. Gesicki is more of a run blocking TE imo. 40 catch 4 TD kind of guy.

Could be wrong though so who knows right?

The Burrow/Higgins/Chase stack won one of the big tournaments a couple years back.

Burrow hasn't used his TE much so far.

I did it once or twice just to have it in the portfolio. And while I don’t really like Reek/Waddle, I’ve done quite a bit of Achane with both.

I think I also have 0 Hill/Waddle

I do also have quite a bit of Achane with one of the WRs too

It’s funny bc I’m pretty indifferent on waddle at cost on UD, but I think he might be my highest owned season long player bc he’s falling too much in that format

Gesicki is terrible at run blocking and is mainly a pass catching TE. That’s one of the primary reasons Mia let him walk. But he’s also not that good at running routes and catching passes.

Overall, I don’t think he’s a very good TE. But TEs have had some spike weeks with Burrow, so I’ll mix Gesicki in sometimes in the 18th. Mainly either correlated with Cincy players or for playoff matchup bring backs.

It’s possible Erick All emerges.

I was heavier on Gesicki earlier, but at this point I'm only playing him when I have Burrow, or if I have Nix and he falls.

Agreed that Gesiciki doesn’t have a high ceiling.

I think if you’re going for the Cincy stack I’d try and get Chase Brown in the later rounds to round out the stack.

The only negative I feel with this stack is week 12, their bye week.

It kind of puts you in a corner if you are planning to draft Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakur, Gabe Davis, Darnell Mooney, Alan Lazard and rashid shaheed (among others) for example in the later rounds.

Too many week 12 byes which forced me to pick up guys like Wendale Robinsons of the world etc.

Got a Josh superstack without reaching!

Qb - Allen, Darnold

Rb - Mixon, Mostert, Zeke, Chandler, Davis, Eli

Wr - JJ, Waddle, Aiyuk, Coleman, Doubs, Shakir, Corley, Nailor

Te - Kincaid, Fant

This is not superflex

You have pick 7-8

Bijan, Breece, and JJ are off the board.

Lamb and Chase are available at value, but there's a feeling of uncertainty there with the contract issues.

Do you...

1. Just take the value and draft Lamb or Chase

2. Draft AJB or Wilson

3. Reach into the 2nd round, giving up some potential upside, but creating unique combos like London/Deebo, Nico/Adams, Olave/Achane, etc.

Slam dunk CD pick there

Qb - Caleb, Cousins, Darnold

Rb - Cook, Najee, Mostert, Javonte, Gibson

Wr - JJ, London, DJM, Rice, Meyers, M Wilson, Nailor, Melton

Te - Pitts, Fant

Hard to pass up value but it depends on the format.

If best ball tourney I go Wilson.

CD and Chase might miss a few weeks or if they do sign it might take a week or two for them to get into game shape and produce.

Losing out on points in Best Ball the first 2 or 3 weeks could mean the difference in advancing to the $$ round or washing out.

If snake draft the take CD.

I would take Lamb. You should be able to get a unique combo due to his fall. We aren't in panic mode yet.

A lot of uncertainty for a first round that’s felt so comfortable all summer.

With that said, I’m simply still taking those guys at ADP since we are chasing the ultimate upside. Discounted upside is even better for people worried about the first few weeks.

Obviously, you never want your first round pick to be out or have production dips, but ideally can withstand it the most in the first few weeks with limited injuries + no byes.
