2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Those are the best RB rooms. Cringe at first sight, and then you start telling yourself the stories haha.

I love tacking on Gibson to rooms that need to find early production late in the draft.

JJZ is down on Montgomery but I disagree with him there. There's plenty to go around for a team without a super elite QB and the best OL. Plus he has league-winning upside in the unfortunate case of a Gibbs injury (nooooo!). It's Porta who I think might take a step back in terms of fantasy production.

It's probably the best way to build a team in a tournament. Throw a bunch of darts at RB's and get studs at the rest of the positions. Let the chaos take it from there.

Yeah, Monty is a nice Zero RB target. I don't have a ton of him, since he's been in the range where the end of the WR tier I've been attacking dries up. And I do think he's still a little too expensive.
But I like adding him onto certain builds.

LaPorta ran hot on TDs last season, but I think he'll get pretty close to the same target volume.

That offense is still pretty consolidated target wise, since Jamo isn't anything special. But Jamo improving should help the entire offense by drawing the defense down the field. They didn't really have that piece for a lot of last year.

Flock number 3. Pick 7.

I came one pick from getting Hopkins. That would have been a juicy week 17 game stack.

QB) Lawrence, Goff

RB) Achane, Etienne, Warren, Pollard, Davis.

WR) ARSB, Aiyuk, Ridley, BTJ, G Davis, D Douglas, Mcmillan, Burton, Raymond.

TE) Engram, Jonnu

That's a fun team. Nuk would have been really nice there. Still a robust game stack with 7 pieces. I really hope Jonnu gives us something good this season. I've drafted him heavily. I know newguy has too haha.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, obviously both are great value at those prices but I prefer to stream QBs the same way you guys stream Defenses and Kickers. If a 10 team 1QB league has shallow benches you can probably find a top 10 guy every week

We do actually have shallow benches, but people still keep multiple QBs on the roster. In a random week last year we had 16 QBs rostered and another 3 on IR spots. I feel a lot more confident in filling the WR room than taking a QB in this league.

Thanks

I did something stupid. Really stupid.

But I honestly wasn't in love with anyone else that was available.

QB - Purdy, Tua, Lance(lol)

RB - Walker, Monty, Ford, Zeke, Gibson, Shipley

WR - Reek, Deebo, Olave, Flowers, Mike, Pearsall, Wandale, Flournoy

TE - Ferguson, Goedert, Jonnu

Pacheco at 12 is terrible.

Curious why you think this is such a terrible pick.

Ascending 25yo lead RB in Andy Reid offense that has maybe the best catch % of all RBs + gets the goal line carries. Andy has shown in the past if he finds a veteran RB he loves (Westbrook, McCoy) he will lean on them all season. I can easily see a path for him to outscore all those other RBs with rushing QBs, guy the coach seems to want to replace and a stud in essentially a 50/50 timeshare.

My draft is Tuesday and I have pick 7 and will be thrilled if Pacheco is there at 18

I like your team a lot, especially the Lawrence-BJT connection. Dislike Cook that early. Pittman too but that won't break you if he has an off year.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

Problems with Pacheco:

1. His TD upside is likely limited. The Chiefs are the most gimmicky offense and one of the most pass happy offenses at the goal line.

2. Part of the bull case was him getting the passing work vacated by McKinnon. Now that's likely to go to Perine.

3. Part of the bull case was him getting more targets, which is now unlikely to be the case with the additions of Worthy and Hollywood + Rice in year 2. The Chiefs have signaled all offseason what they want to do on offense; throw the ball down the field.

Pacheco is a fine pick, and I think he will have a good season. But my position is that he also doesn't have the same ceiling upside as Gibbs, Kyren, JT, Achane, etc., and that doesn't even include the WRs he's being drafted over at 12 or 18, either.

In redraft especially, I think you should be chasing ceiling at every pick, and I'm just not sure Pacheco has it.

All valid points - thanks.
I was just saying selecting a guy at 12 whose ADP on Fantasy Pros is 19 doesn't really qualify as 'terrible' and I should know since my first year of playing I selected Saints kicker John Carney in the 4th round - trust me I now know a terrible pick when I see it.

I would rather take Bijan/Breece at 1.01 over CMC/CD than take Pacheco in the 2nd rd, like I’m not even sure I like him in the 3rd in almost any format tbh

Would rather draft Gibbs, Achane, Barkley, JT, Kyren, Henry than Pacheco if I had to draft rb in the 2nd (and I don’t even like Barkley and Henry as picks)

Alright, got my first draft (auction) tomorrow night. 2 drafts (standard snake) next week.

I have done pretty much zero research.

Leggo.

My auction draft. 10 teamer, 0.5ppr, 2 QB league:

Purdy/Rodgers/Cousins/Herbert
Jefferson/Deebo/Metcalf/DeVonta/Godwin/Sutton
McCaffrey/Aaron Jones/Gus
Andrews
Tucker/Chicago

I don't do many auctions and I was underprepared, so pretty meh team I think. Midway through the draft I attempted to go for the full 9ers stack but Kittle went for twice as much as Andrews, and Aiyuk got a bid a little high for my tastes. Pretty weak RB room.

Our draft is a bit weird for 2QB, people go nuts on WR/RB and then QB's don't get bid as high as you'd think.

Lmfao. That would definitely qualify as terrible.

And yeah, suboptimal is probably a better word for it than terrible.

So it's straight 2QB and not SF?

Light RB room, but having CMC makes you not feel bad about it. Between Jones/Gus and the wire, you should be able to fill RB2.

That WR room is nice nice.

I wanna do another BBM before it's over but I know I will get pick 12 and put me on tilt. I guess I'll end the year with 8 total.

Just fire the hound dog and golden. You’ll enjoy it more. Planning to knock out both this afternoon.

Anyone interested in adding an auction league this year ? The horror is trying to start up a 100 dollar auction on yahoo . And I’m jonesing for an auction league lol

Join the club! I may have been a tad stoned and somewhat inebriated when I decided to see what would happen when you stack bye weeks in a FLOCK last night. Probably the worst format to do this, but it was fun!

(Bye week) QB, RB, WR, TE. From 1.10

(12) Allen, Kirk, Coleman, Shakir, Gabe, Pitts

(14) Maye, JT, Estime, Douglas, McCaffrey

(5) Gibbs, Spears, Shipley, JaWill, LaPorta

(9) Pearsall

(10) Chubb

😮😮

I'm on it.

The hound dog rooms suck right now.

Engram is falling like crazy in them. I’ve gotten him in the late 80s and early 90s, which is absurd

Guess I was in the wrong rooms. No value. All badges. Meh teams.

Team 1:

Jayden, Geno, Carr

CMC, Jaylen, Dowdle, Ekeler, Wright

Olave, DK, Pickens, Worthy, Watson, JSN, Noah Brown

Fant, Sinnott, Juwan

Team 2:

Mahomes, Goff

JT, Cook, Brown, Jaleel, Irving

ARSB, Rice, Keon, Addison, AD Mitchell, Wan'Dale, Corley, QJ

Pitts, Henry, Dulcich

I usually like to draft these contests between 50-80% full, but I also don't want to miss the entries. I'll try some more in a bit.

This the one I just drafted. I like it except for the w5 rb trouble

Qb - Hurts, Nix

Rb - Pollard, Dowdle, Benson, Gus, Davis, Vidal

Wr - AJB, MHJ, Dell, Keenan, Addison, Downs, Iosivas, Reynolds

Te - Andrews, Engram

It makes sense that the hard core dudes are getting these out of the way so they can get back to finishing up BBM. I've done three but I'll probably wait as well.

Team 1) Solid team. The TE's are sketch but I love the upside of Sinnot and Juwan. Getting Ekeler and Brown to stack with Jayden is sneaky good.

Team 2) I think getting a solid back up to Mahomes is a micro edge. I'm sure there are a lot of Mahomes teams that waited until very late to get their back up. Dulcich is gonna be the hot TE waiver wire pick this year after week 1. This is another solid team.

I assume you got a nice fall on Engram.
