2024 Fantasy Football Thread

Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of January. Through 95 drafts, my exposures are below. The player order is based on current ADP. Some of these ADPs have been quite fluid over the last 3 months, with FAs and rookies moving the most. Most of my exposures are structurally driven, rather than player take driven. Especially at this point in the game, pre-draft.

But there are some players I simply couldn't avoid going heavy on, like McBride and Andrews in the 5th round. I'm actually quite heavy all of the top TEs, minus LaPorta and Kincaid. I also tried to make sure I had at least 1 TE by the end of round 8, with Ferguson being the last of the group.

Also took approaches like attacking Nabers and Odunze harder than MHJ, at their relative prices.

What do we like and not like?

Rookie season is also upon us. Redraft is still 3.5 months away from heating up, but there will be rookie drafts, dynasty startups, and best ball drafts leading up until then.

Good luck to all, and may injuries and variance be kind.

Lol, there is no way we aren't being leveled.

Second year in a row the rams caught everyone in fantasy off guard. Last year with kyren coming out of nowhere and this year so much chatter about corum and then he doesn’t even play a snap

Week 1 waivers is normally crazy with so no name guys breaking out. But this year seems kinda slow other than likely and I’m not sure what to make of him ROS

I wonder what it looks like if the Rams aren't losing the whole game. I still think they want to get Corum involved, but he must not be as ready to contribute as they let on. I did expect at least some snaps in w1. However, it's tough to gauge a rookie RB after w1.

My regret is dropping Chase Brown for Corum instead of JK Dobbins after the early window in my 8 man Yahoo league. I've already dropped Corum for Braelon.

I still think Kyren is a ticking injury time bomb. Especially watching him dive on that punt near the end of the game lol.

And yeah, not much out there on waivers in deep leagues. Can't wait for everyone to pick up Likely, start him, and then watch him put up a 5 fpt game.

I used to get this on 2p2 all the time. then people got to know me. but I'm new to this sub forum

and Gibbs!!! I remember his name! J something Gibbs, I think. man, he's really good. and the Detroit QB missed two throws to him, that would have won me week 1

one or both throws weren't even attempted cuz QB didn't see it

Haha, maybe so. But the way you post with a lack of knowledge yet acknowledge certain intricacies makes it seem like a level. Either way, reading the update gave me a chuckle. Good luck with your sweat tonight. It's going to be a close one.

thanks!!

And yeah, my lack of knowledge and also some knowledge comes from the hours and hours of studying I put in before the draft, but also just watching football for the first time last year!

I used to watch it 20 years ago, but lost interest

Amon-Ra with just 3 receptions for 13 yards :(

Amon-Ra with just 3 receptions for 13 yards :(

I'm trying not to overreact, but this really could not be good.

In ARSB's rookie season, when he went on the insane end of season run, there was basically no target competition.

Two seasons ago, Jamo was injured for most of the season and LaPorta/Gibbs didn't exist. Hell, they traded Hock midseason.

Last season, Jamo was still having his issues, and LaPorta/Gibbs were rookies who were continuing to get implemented.

What if this season, Jamo has finally found his place, LaPorta is better, Gibbs demands more targets, and ARSB is still a very good receiver who loses some of his target share?

I don't expect Jamo to be the target leader most weeks, but 9 for him, 6 for LaPorta, 6 for ARSB and 5 for Gibbs isn't great for ARSB. Especially when you add in the fact that the Lions will want to establish the run every week. Their defense also looked good, which lessens the potential throwing ceiling of the offense.

ARSB only had one game with 6 targets last season, including the playoffs. He had two games with 7 targets, two games with 8 targets, five games with 9 targets, and nine games with 10+. I expect he'll still have some big weeks, but the weekly consistency might not be as good.

The value guys I missed on (mostly just sniped):

Reed, Mixon, Evans, Dobbins, Godwin, Stevenson, Brandin Cooks, Zack Moss, Zeke, Tank Bigsby, Bowers, Nabers, Singletary

The value guys I hit on:

Kupp, Jameson Williams, Kamara, Shaheed, Aaron Jones, Pollard, Diggs, Conner, Ford, Brian Thomas Jr,

Guessing there's a decent collection of league winners hiding in there in terms of where most of them were drafted. Starting to look like a comical year at tight end.

Nice list. The only ones I wouldn't put on there are Shaheed and Diggs.

Shaheed is what he is. He hit one big play and missed on another big play, but he's definitely a better in best ball type of player. He's going to have an annoyingly low weekly floor in managed. Also, lolPanthers.

Diggs catching 6 of 6 targets with 2 TDs, very good. Diggs having 33 yards on 6 catches, not so good.

I'll be interested to see what happens with Pollard/Spears in w2.

I'm also still skeptical of Tank Bigsby. But the Jags certainly want him to be involved, and he did look good on his touches.

The TEs will be fine.

These stats are in favor of Shaheed, and I do still think the Saints will be a better offense this season than their past few, but I also want to see them against a real defense. And I still don't think it changes Shaheed's floor/ceiling outcome projections.

With that said, moving forward, I want to target motion offenses even more than I already have. And they were already a big part of my targets this season.

I think one mistake I may have made in drafting is mostly just targeting younger players with upside and avoiding a lot of veterans out of fear they may be washed up. Guys like mixon, Connor, Mike Evan’s, diggs, cupp etc

I hope Corum is dropped in all my leagues. I'll be happy to put him on the end of my bench. Seems like an ideal handcuff if he's in line for a ton of snaps if the starter goes down.

Yeah, but a lot of vets look good in week 1 and by week 17 they're either not nearly as efficient or they're injured. But it definitely doesn't make you feel as good watching it go down to start the season.

The post below is one of my favorites. I also saw another post recently of vet scoring and rookie scoring starting far apart to begin the season then continuing to converge as the season goes on.

Sprained pcl for Puka . He could land on ir.

10 minutes later…IR official lol.

Man, seems like the Rams ****ed this up putting him out there w1.

So i got sniped all draft on Tes and waited until last round to grab dulcich. He was terrible, but thankfully so were all TEs. What sort of FAAB are people spending on Likely if you dont have a top 12 te? Parkinson seemed like a decent option last night, maybe even better now with nacua out. Any other TEs on the radar?

Couple other thoughts from week 1:

Walker/Mixon/Conner category great value in drafts if they can stay healthy
Kirk Cousins looks like he cant push off at all on throws, i am very worried about my London shares unless they turn to penix
Ive always though kyler was a bit of a fraud, not sure that view has changed even though i fell for a bit of his hype this offseason
Need nacua and OL to come back healthy and the rams might be the best offense in the league
Officially worried about my Lions offense shares
think mclaurin drawing dead with jayden
Love watching achane as much as any player, just dont see how he survives a full season

Wow, CMC inactive. Did not see that coming.

Just had to redo all my lineups and I hate all my bets now lol .

Brutal lol.

wtf, man. I thought it was a minor issue and they were just holding him out of training camp/preseason.

I would have laid a lot of money he’d be out there w1. I kept taking him best ball. Could probably do well just avoiding anyone who gets injured in July/August.

I’m guessing a lot of unprepared people tonight.

I’d probably spend quite a bit on Likely if I was hurting on TE. I only have two leagues where is available, and they are 8/10 man leagues with short benches where I have Pitts. So I won’t be bidding. But he certainly has some nice upside ROS.

Although, maybe I should try to get him with the Cousins uncertainty.

John stays bullish.

by tarheels2222 P

Wow, CMC inactive. Did not see that coming.

I was fading him in several lineups tonight thinking there is the possibility he gets reinjured. I had a decent amount of Mason but that's not so sneaky anymore.

Although I'm mostly fading Rodgers tonight I think Lazard is a sneaky good cheap play.

This is probably a good night to play DFS since a decent amount of people probably left CMC in their lineup.

Mclaurin is the fantasy hive minds favorite player for some reason. If ever there was a year for him to really break out this is it. He'll probably finish exactly where he always does.

Conner won't stay healthy. I really wanted to take more of him but I know how this will end and I liked the WR's going around him.

I think Dulcich will get it going later in the year when Nix gets it going.

I've had a bad feeling about CMC but I've had an equally bad feeling passing on him in drafts.

How many lineups did you put Mason in. I put him in a few. I feel like this is gonna be a 23 to 20 type game. Maybe even a 16 to 13 game. Rodgers is gonna be rusty. The Jets defense is for real so I don't think Purdy is gonna be great. Possibly a lot of field goals tonight.

All of them . For his price he’s a must play . I also bet the under
