I have nothing to compare it to, but the principle here for wealth splitting is....

start with 50:50 but then adjust for 3 factors

- who brought more into the relationship...eg before but also earnings and investments wise. But this becomes irrelevant once you've been together for as long as we have
- who will have more child care responsibilities. this is me...two girls want to live with me FT and son will be split 50:50.
- who has the capacity to earn more moving forward. this is what ****s me - my business has paid me 3-3.5x what my wife earns so the law argues that she should get a higher proportion of the wealth split.

If the kids were gonna live with my soontobeexwife FT she could be eligible for as much as 65%, despite the fact we're both in our 50s

wealth split includes retirement amounts too, so she'll be eligible for xx% of my retirement lump sum too

Maintenance is then a separate calculation. given the child split situation and the fact that she'll be walking away with more than 7 figs, it shouldn't be much if anything

I am currently playing nice with her and aiming to keep it away from lawyers and aim for 50:50. But that's a pipedream

That is more correctly lol Congress. Some of the laws preventing sharing of data from the IRS are many decades old, and this is one of those issues getting the legislative minds to comprehend is nearly impossible.
I will say the jobs data doesn't add as much bloat as you might think federally, as most of this is collected at the state level and only analyzed by BLS. I think we have one person who covers the jobs data for the southeast and then 1 more for the other 5 regions. Add some statisticians in DC and it's not a huge program. The IRS data would still get vetted pre-publication so in the end it doesn't change the cost structure much. BLS is one of the leanest operating government agencies but that's what you get from a bunch of economists.

doc who did mine said that the surgery isn't always done well enough to stop them. the follow up confirms if it's done well enough or if they need to redo it. if it wasn't done to stop enough of the swimmers you could easily end up with another kiddo.

Having 3 teenagers (give or take) is way different than having a ~5yo, a toddler and an infant/newborn.
