These "Keep Track Week" vlogs that Diesel comes up with are basically meaningless with such a small amount of data collected.
The results are going to be hugely affected by the game composition and it's over about a 90 minute time period.
It's basically vlog filler and to keep him occupied at the table while folding 90% of hands. Why use brain power to develop exploits to each player at the table and increase your hourly? Nah, need to write down how much rake was taken this pot or how much the dealer got tipped.
see i've said this myself a million times that i'm very sympathetic to the diesel because because i'm diesel light
i'll often car camp instead of getting a motel, i once went to a wedding in the middle east that was at a very remote resort in the desert that was $500 a night and nothing else within a 40 minute drive so i just brought a tent, camped in the desert nearby and then showered in the rooms of my friends (i'd of course buy them a drink or something later as a thank you)
ended up spending another 2 weeks traveling around the desert and just setting up a tent wherever i felt like instead of paying crazy middle eastern hotel costs (insanely expensive region of the world) and just embraced the bedouin tradition 😀
but diesel is absolutely correct that you're an idiot if you regularly buy groceries at convenience stores because their markup is insane - i don't know if he personally buys enough groceries to justify the time + gas spent going to a grocery store vs walking across the street for milk though - ie i'm very much like him but i'm more of a holistic cheapskate where i also value my time and energy and will happily walk across the street to a 7-11 or walgreens vs a long trek if it's just a few items
As an avid backpacker, I'm not mad at your decision to car camp; I am, however, offended by your cheap Chinese-made tent. Come on, man. Show some pride in your accommodations.
tent was purchased in china - it was actually a pretty good tent, i miss it and wish i still had it
That is why there are so many crowds in Las Vegas since it is the most affordable USA destination for vacations. The new Supreme Court decision makes it illegal to sleep in vehicles in most local public areas and therefore nomads are only able to sleep in hotels with resort fees waived or $20 Airbnb's in Iowa and/or National Forests which allow 14 day tent camping.
14 consecutive days in a single location, if you pick up and move periodically you're fine, they just don't want the establishment of gypsy camps
but like let's say i'm at a sportsbook, they will take up 5k on a bet and i only have 3k on me, i will not walk 1 minute to an atm and withdraw the money for $15 in fees but instead spend 5 minutes on google maps finding a nearby affiliated atm i can withdraw from without a fee, then spend 10-15 minutes walking or even driving there each way to withdraw the extra 2k i can get down on it
it takes up an hour of my time, despite that an hour of my time is worth more than $15 - since i don't have anything pressing, i'll be that idiot who is penny smart and pound foolish just because i'm against the principle of paying $15 in atm fees when there's a free option nearby
i'll also make it work in the sense that i'll turn that journey into my mental health or meal break - ie i should take a break and go for a walk anyway, why don't i make it an atm walk then
but it's still dumb, but unlike diesel, i'm aware that this is irrational behavior and also, if i were short on time or there were high value options available (ie a really juicy poker game was happening at same casino) then i'd of course pay the fees and get the money quickly to get back on the hustle
i also save things like excess ketchup and hotsauce packets and napkins - ie i get some tacos at a food truck and they hand me way more salsa packets and napkins than i need, those definitely get stowed in my car for future usage - but... i'll never in a million years think that's a positive trait of mine, nor would i ever happily film myself taking the time to organize and prepare these things while proudly telling the world about my utensil packet hack
in fact, quite often whenever someone hops in my car when i was not expecting a passenger ahead of time, i'm usually filled with massive horror and embarassment realizing i'm going to have to move the napkins and sweet and sour sauce packets leftover my takeout chinese lunch that i threw on the passenger seat to be dealt with later
so again, i'm very sympathetic to what he does, i got that hardwired in myself, and also, although i don't think it is the case for him since he's clearly busto, i do believe he'd do the same when times are not tough because not once in my life has my financial situation ever been a factor in my decision to hoard leftover napkins and sauce packets - like i can't eat pizza (celiac disease) but i'll often be around people who order it and it tilts me to no end when they throw the box away along with all the unused napkins, parm and hot pepper flake packets it came with and it's like watching the titanic go down and i'm making a snap judgement call over how pathetic it'll look and how much i'll be judged if i say "oh hold on let me grab those first"
but to be clear, this doesn't mean i would ever use pocket mayo/cream cheese etc - i'm a cheapskate hoarder but keep things within reason 😀
:claps:
You're a dumbo. The correct answer is $2k on player on baccarat. No vig. Works almost half the time.
Remember when Trooper was doing Operation Uptick and was at 2-5 and ran hot and was going to play 5-10. Molly dumped him to go to Cali by herself and Trooper tilt steamed the absolute worst time to play, a midweek mid-afternoon Bellagio 5-10 game. Unsurprisingly, it went as well as you would think. Horribly.
genius, feel so stupid not thinking of that earlier 😀
He was better off sticking to 2-5 until the wheels came off.
Operation Uptick electrical tape in case Trooper comes across a naked wire that needs to be insulated:
No, but when he does it's usually pure gold.
That's not even 4 big bets. In the right game, a good player might be able to do that. Remember, well over 40 hands an hour in fixed limit games.
I really wish ED had kept track of the time it took for those 50 hands today. I'm gonna guess two hours? At $200 over two hours it is slightly better than Texas' no rake if you are at $13/hr. Slightly better in Texas at $10)hr.

He said he would move up to maybe 5-10 and maybe beyond? Imagine him in a 10-20 NL game.
You think limit players can make $32 an hour in a 4-8 game? What do you think they can make at 10-20 or 20-40? 4-8 winrates are not going to be close to what a good player can make at 1-3 NL.
Back when rake was really low and players were much worse people talked about winning 1 big bet an hour as a goal. I suspect lot of people that thought one big bet per hour was achievable probably couldn’t even win half that.
I've never had a tent that nice.
Think blue porker officially failing his 4am Uber start time (who didnt see that coming).
I say Think Blue Poker doesn't get rolling with Uber at 4am, and doesn’t drive 10 hours tomorrow (which is really today).
Ruh roh, I'm a lot like this.
I save the packets because, as Joe Pesci said, "They always **** you at the drive thru". There's not much worse than getting home from Taco Bell to find 3 sauce packets in the bag, and they're all mild.
in fact, quite often whenever someone hops in my car when i was not expecting a passenger ahead of time, i'm usually filled with massive horror and embarassment realizing i'm going to have to move the napkins and sweet and sour sauce packets leftover my takeout chinese lunch that i threw on the passenger seat to be dealt with later
Sounds like you need a cooler on the seat.
Who cares what the rake comparison is between Council Bluffs and Texas. Rake is proportional to pot size. The bigger the average pots, the better the game for the most part.
The ONLY thing that matters for a serious player is win rate, period. If I'm playing in a 1-3 game where $30+/hr is possible, I don't care if the rake is $10.
I played in a home game during Covid that was 5-5 NL. They raked $10 a hand and standard tip for the dealer was $5. I would play in that game everyday without blinking. Players like Diesel would be uninvited after 30 minutes.
Maybe. I used to play with the Baysians in San Jose.
Many pros care which is why they relocated to Texas
