Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
...You're right.
I'll try to be more...um magnanimous in future. 😀
The month ban was for posting in the Ukraine thread. It also had nothing to do with his beliefs.
sorry that post was directed at BOIDs. I didnt bother to quote it and your post got slipped in the middle.
My apologies so, but I'm pretty sure he got bans and time outs on the IP thread also. He also made numerous nazi comparisons which was subsequently forbidden by the mods, which again belies dunain's claim re mod bias. I don't think there's an actual bias on the IP thread in favour of any particular stance.
No problem 😉
Makes sense. I didn't realize he got banned multiple times recently.
I dont even know who you are referring to, but pretty much all the regulars have gotten time outs in that thread, even posters that have probably never been banned before, so that doesn't mean too much.
Victor still thinks Deif is alive? LOL.
I dont think there is mod bias in favor of pro Palestinian posters. I just think this forum gives leeway to post antisemetic propaganda whose exact purpose is to dehumanize Jews. And I dont think the mod being Jewish (or Jewish adjacent) means this isn't true.
The stuff Jalfrezi mainlines and then regurgitates in this forum isn't "journalism" whose purpose is to bring truth, or reconciliation, or further the discourse. It is just propaganda (in my opinion most of it not true) to sow division and hate. Period.
Did I say that?
He might be alive or might be dead. The claim from BOIDs that Hamas "confirmed" his death is quite literally false. In fact yesterday they said that he was alive.
Far from mainlining it, I barely smoke it.
When one side is murdering tens or hundreds of thousands of the other side, you should expect pushback.
You should expect pushback by Hamas and Hamas allies, but you shouldn't expect we let Hamas or Hamas allies anywhere near any country that defines Hamas as a terrorist organization
The problem is a lot of the propaganda that is pumped into the West comes from Qatar. They also are responsible for a lot of the pro Islamism bent of academia, as they "donate" a tremendous amount of money into our higher education for this purpose. And they have bought and paid for our elites a long time ago. In exchange they let us host military bases in the region. Is it worth it for our side? I really dont know, but I am skeptical.
It is funny, because leftists like to complain about the US right wing disinformation ecosystem, and how destructive it is. But they refuse to acknowledge the problem is actually much worse in the rest of the world, where the disinformation is often directly controlled by state actors; but they have a giant blind spot to this because they have totemized "brown" people and dont see them as having any moral agency.
Reports are that the Israeli and US Navy in the Mediterranean and Red Sea have gotten very active recently. Seems to be in preparation of something going down. Early intelligence is the the IRI is planning a large assault on Israel from assets in Iraq.
*** WARNING ***
Please avert your gaze from the following post by a notorious mainliner of antisemitism:
Widespread Israeli public support for genocide. (Not that it's happening, they just want to ;-)
a list of 265 quotes from talkshow hosts and guests on Channel 14. The remarks included guests or presenters using phrases such as “total annihilation” and “exterminate” in reference to people in Gaza. The legal complaint alleged at least 50 of the quotes on the list “call for or support the commission of genocide”.
In a world where Dr. Hassan Diab is going to lecture western students on social justice in action, and Dr. Mohammad Marandi is a highly requested "scholar" on the conflict, no wonder why critical thinking is in a decline.
I once was in a lecture held by the late Prof. Daniel Kahneman. He was asked by a Muslim student, why are there more Israeli Nobel prize winners than Muslims (not including peace prizes) and why so many many jews won the prize.
I dont remember the exact answer, as I was not really paying attention to the subject. I was a young liberal, who believed that the world is heading towards globalism, and the sectorial groupings are going soon to be a part of history. I cringed about the attempt to associate different cultures specific attributes.
I started waking up when I first saw Zvi Yehezkeli docu series "Allah Islam". It was the first time I realized that I was not really listening to the "other side". that enforcing sharia law for instance, is a declared goal for large parts of Islamist. The funny thing was, that when I addressed my concerns to my Muslim friends, they explicitly informed me I was a total fool, as they were trying to explain it to us for years and that they fear radical Islam more than us.
Jal, you have persuaded everybody that the situation in Gaza is horrific. Hack, I was there, and in Jenin, Hebron and more. I saw it. I know.
But you are doing the Palestinians a disservice, as all it does is gives their leaders falls hope that there is a long turn win in the "axis of resistance" strategy.
There is no point to this post and im not addressing anything in particular. I just lost a friend in Lebanon and im very pessimistic about the future now.
lmao you've made a bit of a leap there billy
fake news.
Channel 14 is most definitely cancer, and everyone who works there is cancer.
But they are far from being the most-watched news source. and they are viewed by 260,000 thousand on average. not exactly a powerhouse.
if you're going through hell, keep going
millions of people and dozens of countries telling you it's it a genocide .
what number or percentage gets that agreement in your end ? 90%?
What if you're part of the force that deliberately created the hell, though?
billions of people and hundreds of countries tell me that their chosen skyman is going to judge me after i die - best to stick with the merits of the arguments rather than weight of numbers
and a careful look at the arguments strongly suggest NO GENOCIDE!
thnaks man.
