The western countries are the ones that are pioneering the way forward for the entire world, and part of it has to do with the leadership of Biden and the Democrats who have realized we can both continue to produce massive amounts of oil while also making sure that we create the infrastructure that will allow us to transition over the next 20-40 years to renewable energies that are going to end up being more and more cost-efficient. But let’s also not pretend that other environmental issues are not massive and have been widely addressed specifically by liberal democracies throughout the world.
Furthermore you talk about nuclear externalities as if they are the only possible externalities to exist. For instance in 2018 the US shipped a third of its plastic waste for recycling overseas to countries that don’t have the infrastructure to handle it. It became such a big problem that those countries had to enact regulations to prevent those imports from happening. Given just how much of a head start the US and Europe have had when it comes to industrialization, it’s not surprising that we started at the place where it made the most sense to lower our emissions first. We also have more of the technological capability to do so, and then once we are ahead of the game we should work with other countries to make sure they can grow in a sustainable way.
Your hypernationalism is going to lead to a world of conflict and war instead of peace and prosperity. I know you are ok with that but most people aren’t. I want the US and Europe to continue to be the global leaders that all other countries aspire to, and that means putting economic pressure on other countries and sanctioning them for their environmental policies if needed.

yes, not to fondle my own balls too much but i've also lived on 4 different continents and traveled more than probably most of the posters here combined
