Potawatomi (Milwaukee, WI)

Potawatomi (Milwaukee, WI)

Last march I moved to Vegas from Milwaukee where I played semiregularly live at Potowatomi in the 2/5 game.

The casino was still under construction before I left and I never got to see the completed room.

I'm wondering if there are any poto regs that can give me an update on it.

I remember there was a plo game on the weekends.
Does that still run? Buyin/blinds? is it still 2/3 plo 1/3 nl/pl?

Does poto get a 5-10 now?

Bascially just wondering how the new room compares to the old room?

Thanks

I asked my host today and she said April-ish along with the new sportsbook build out.

job listings for poker dealers will be the early indicator.

FWIW last night I heard poker room manager job has been posted internally.

Rob the former poker room manager is a pit boss and it sounds like he got that job. I saw him this weekend, he said 14 tables likely in May because they still have to re-hire the former dealers currently working, open up dealer positions to Poto workers, then post the openings to the public. Once we see the dealer job posting we'll know it's close.

Great update .. It will be nice to have someone familiar with the facility/administration in there to get things started back up and perhaps make a push for tournaments sooner than later. While I don't think that getting 'traffic' will be an issue, tournaments are an excellent way to get Players back in the room. Even if the Home Game scene has taken over some/most of the larger stakes action Players still should want to play against a larger Player Pool than what they see in a private setting. GL

14 tables sounds small, no? I thought the old room had many more (my brain is remembering 35-50).

20, but almost never had them all running at once. At least not for cash games.

The old room was 20. This one is 14 because it's a different location. They're building out a massive sportsbook and the poker room will be right next to it. Traffic should be higher than before.

If you go down the escalator in the back that goes past Solstice and down to where Northern Lights Theatre was, the new poker room will be what used to be the non-smoking slots room to the right.

Will running it twice make it into the room?

Wisconsin Casino Announces Date For New Poker Room, Sportsbook
Potawami Casino In Milwaukee Undergoing Renovation Project

"Poker players and sports bettors in the Midwest will soon have some new options for getting in on the action. The Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has announced that the property’s new sportsbook and poker room will open on May 3."

...

"This will mark the return of the poker room after it shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new 14-table space is located in the former Northern Lights Theater, which closed in early 2023. The room plans on spreading cash games, but has also hosted mid-major tournament series such as the Mid-States Poker Tour events over the years as well. The poker room will be adjacent to the new sportsbook and will share access to food and beverage options, including 40 beers on tap."

Subject to change but what I've heard -
Soft opening 1-2 days before May 3rd
13 Tables
8 AM - 4 AM M-T, 24 HRS Weekends
$1-3 $100-$500
$2-5 $300-$1500
PLO sizes TBD
$6 rake +2 for promo
No Run it twice or button straddle
MSPT's in event center, no WSOP circuits

Can confirm the 13 tables and open times and soft opening from a friend who applied as chip runnner today.

Chip Runner? Really? In a room that small? Typically rooms just have a Dealer 'Brush' a down during busy times. Yes, it does depend on how they set up their staff, but we've got 10, 16 and 22 table rooms that get along just fine without the 'extra' staff member to run chips.

Hopefully the Players appreciate them and you friend can get some steady tips. GL

Also meal tickets changed to 90 minutes, chips removed, seat becomes open, player goes on top of list for same game type upon return.

This is a good system. Rivers in IL uses it and I think it's the fairest way to do it.

Will the poker room be on Bravo, PokerAtlas, LetsPoker, or something else? What's the phone number going to be to get on the list?

Saw Rob today at the casino.

Bravo. You'll need a Bravo Live account and a Poto Fire Keepers card to sign up ahead of time. Kiosk to swipe in the room. No call ins.

Right at the bottom of the escalator to the sportsbook.

Yummy.

Poto showed up today on my Bravo live app.
