Omaha Journey to High Stakes

Omaha Journey to High Stakes

Hi,

I had previously created a pb&c thread, but since I achieved most of my short and mid term goals I figured a new one was in order.

I have played Omaha for roughly 1.5 years.

Currently in an Omaha stable playing 1/2 PLO online.

Gym, school, poker is my life right now 😀

I want to grind up to high stakes PLO and play against some of the toughest competition.

After I grind a roll with the stable I want to transition primarily to live PLO and maybe also travel for good PLO games.

Primarily things I want to work on are eating more healthy, and not losing confidence in my plays when I am losing.

graph of January so far!

Rough Sunday got rivered for about 3k in EV in a tournament on FT... Still made money today but like tournaments are such a scam lmao. Played out of my mind the whole thing and end up with pennies after some idiot decides to put in stack with 18% lol.

I got a question.
How do you play top set on monotone boards? Equity is 39% against flushes.
Are you check calling, shoving or folding?

I can’t give advice this general it’s not helpful. But in general I’d consider if I was IP or OOP, OOP wanting to xr more, IP having more incentive to play further streets. And stack sizes, how torched to we get to gii etc. lots of stuff, should probably just study in trainer and get some training done. I know this isn’t that helpful, but the question is too vague.

Broke 200k hands on Global!

Plans for 2024?

Focus on the money, less on the skills development. Play more live.

Be more mindful who I choose to spend time with, and why. Use mindset to put in more volume, and make more money. Have had some eye opening experiences this year dealing with people who end up dragging everybody around them down. Not even bad people, just not people I should spend much time with given my ambitions.

year results 4h+, very easy to tell where I started working with coach! Most of volume on untracked though, so probably played ~300k hands this year. Also had some live volume. We made ~3k on tracked after RB including HU and 3h, $14417 from 150 hours of live, and estimated up ~4k after RB on untracked (Untracked being Global, Playnow and Unibet). Up or down some amount in tournaments. Happy to call it around 20k. Also this is part time hours, as I have been putting myself through school at the same time. We will work on more impressive results this year! Feeling diminishing returns on study at this point, imo time to improve the logistical side of my "business"

Hello, just followed your blog, first of all good luck on your 2024 journey.

At some point in your blog you mentioned a well established plo stable, may I ask what their name is ? As you moved from apps to common poker clients I assume you are not with PokerNinjas anymore right ?

Hey, they were well established but not a public group afaik.

Sadge, as I'm looking to transition from Spin and go pro to PLO I've been hyped reading your blog and learning about PLO Stables.

I have no problems working on my own with the masterclass that I have but the Stable environement definitly is something I'll miss.

Been playing a bunch of live lately. Results are whatever, unsure which is higher hourly - online or live. Crushing ppl anyways, apparently I’m pretty good with live tells, not that I really care abt them. Just involves paying attention to showdowns and understanding how other players view the game, and being willing to be wrong with catastrophic results. Winning roughly $100/h over the last 200 hours at 1/2 bring in 5 PLO uncapped buyin, could be run good or run bad I have no idea. Tiny sample I guess compared to online. Doesn’t really matter though I know I’m slaughtering them just don’t know exactly for how much.

Plan to continue playing Sundays online, just have had a hard time getting enough good 2/5 tables running on most days :/

Maybe getting onto some good app games in the future is the play no clue.

If the game plays twice as deep as advertised and you somehow manage to mark the aces in the deck, making you able to have 30bb/100, you might make about half of that long term.

Game plays roughly 500-4k deep, with $10 straddle mostly on. Seeing 10k stacks isn’t uncommon. Don’t think $100/h is unreasonable.

Bad Sunday online for MTTs. Feeling frustrated with online recently, I feel like I’ve finally become the player that is crushing the games that I want to beat. But traffic has just totally died out on global and non ignition sites. Ignition client is acting super weird and laggy and is unusable for me rn. So will try to fix that. Have excellent EV winrate, seeing plenty of mistakes from my opponents still. Just hope that online gets cleaned up and people feel comfortable playing there again.

In the middle of ~20k downswing, feels fkn rough but also kinda whatever, had the chance to shot take higher and it failed time to crush 1/2 again and get back at it.

Funny thing is my EV at 2.5/5 is insane still, just got torched at 5/T and tournaments mostly. Rip haha

Some accounting mistakes still at 2.5/5 for a bit but looking pretty grim still tbh

Heading to Vegas for live trip, which will be final weekend working with coach, as he had to deal with some personal stuff.

Excited to put my new knowledge to use grinding away!

Big rule is 100bi before moving up. Don't care how quickly I move up anymore. Now I have the confidence that I can beat these stakes I want to beat. Just want the most stability in this cruel chaotic game.

Going to run a mini trip report for this Vegas weekend, plan is live+wsop.com.

Was misunderstanding with coach, we may be working a bit longer. Will have to see.

Currently 5am, left gfs and heading to airport. Packed light, ready to battle.

Sounds great, GL. What limits will you be playing?

2/5 unless things take a turn for the worse :p

Went to “lux cafe” for breakfast, food was disappointing with how good the reviews were. Not terrible, just overly fried and greasy. Grabbed some green tea from Starbucks and booked a decent sized win at 1/2 PLO. Rake being $5 cap seems really nice, compared to the $13 I pay locally. Game was nice but action nitted up eventually and left shortly after. Friend is delayed a bit, ended up booking a room at harrahs to get a nap in before I get my room for the weekend. About to take a nap, then figure out the vibes for the night.

In Uber heading back, had another W session very short though. Super tired, went to some 24h diner with a friend. Had a nice buttermilk fried chicken type thing. Looking forward to a good night sleep.

good luck in Vegas Knox

Small W today, got buried then unburied… went to Bavette’s which was nice, but too salty and greasy again haha. Feels like a trend :p also went to tacos el gordo with a friend which is always awesome.

Live is so soft in Vegas compared to Vancouver honestly lol. Might aim to make some weekend trips to Seattle/portland area.

No poker today, just some food, picked up a gift for gf, and relaxed. Back to work tmr back home! Overall up a bit on the trip, not a huge success but could be worse!

Sup?
