Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I think you are underestimating how important the saudi Israel deal is to both countries

There might be a deal but it won't solve the Palestinian conflict because Israel will not pull out of Area C. No state.

The Saudis give absolutely zero ****s about the Palestinians. They won't hold Israel's feet to the fire. With or without a formal deal, Israel and SA will normalize relations, through backdoor channels if they must, but seriously it's already a done deal, and has been done for years. Saudis have been attending US military academies and allowed to buy the most advanced US weapons for years, an honor it shares with only a handful of countries (Japan, some of NATO, and... Israel).

I honestly don't understand mets' obsession with thinking Saudis are going to get involved in the Gazan conflict or will try to extract anything on behalf of the Palestinians. For them, the Palestinians are just a distraction. They'd rather expend the political capital to get more JDAMs to drop on Houthis.

That doesn't mean there can't be a Palestinian state

Whether or not Saudis actually care, they have to appear to care. That means a two state solution. They will try their hardest to not be directly involved, but they won't be normalizing relations while Israel is occupying Gaza or if Gaza is just going to be destroyed again in the future. Not to mention no one is going to invest in reconstructing Gaza if that's a likely outcome.

Saudis already tried this in Yemen. it did not go well for them. like, its complete fantasyland to think the Saudis (or really their mercenaries) will be able to corral an organized guerilla resistance as effective and tested as the Gazans.

and its really not hard to look up. the Saudis did exactly what the Israelis are doing (other than the Saudi land force was largely mercenary whereas the Israeli army is actually Israel although it seems they give out citizenship like candy as evidenced by the Chinese woman that got raped and the South American dude that just died). they got their asses kicked and then took it out on the civilian population with bombs and starvation.

The saudis need to see on paper a path to 2 states even if it's for show. I disagree with blue that a deal won't happy while israel is militarily occupying .

It could start that way, but there would need to be a clear plan to get Israel out.

Victor- welcome back. You expressing your opinion about the UNWRA story was OK. But then you added gratuitous comments about other posters personally that shifted from discussing the story to the person. That's not OK.

Feel free to express your opinions on issues. Please stop directing comments at other posters personally.

Thanks.

How about doing something about it instead of welcoming him back?

Of course by over what time period

Area C divides the West Bank into 165 cantons with Israel in between all of them. So the occupation will still exist. Your kid will have to go through a checkpoint to run an errand for you.

Maybe something will result that they call a state, but it won''t be.

Both Likud and Labor have worked for 50 years to prevent a state. What force will change their minds?

See my response to your mod thread post in the mod thread. And dont put mod related posts in a topic thread. And btw, when you make a post and then delete it, the mods still see it.

Then I guess you can see what I think would be the equivalent of that post, which would be unfairly treated differently.

tell me about how Israel doesnt target civilians

The parts of area a and b need to be more contiguous. When i said Israel won't give up all of area c i was referring more to the east side.

I guess the fear is much of the area is next to Jerusalem

The whole original partition plan with Jerusalem being in the center of Palestine and no path for Israelis to get there was the first problem

Did you and vic vacation together?

I didnt see the post but browser, tho overzealous at times, is usually trustworthy. not that I care. I hear worse all the time.

as for history, I will happily be on the side that doesnt support murdering millions and stealing their land. funny how the Marxists were the ones on that same side in 1942 and who stopped it then.

The Marxists of Moscow collaborated in the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 and carried out the Katyn massacre. They were a bit surprised when their good pal Hitler turned on them in 1941. Not sure what the reference to 1942 means.

they did not side with the Nazis. nor were they surprised.

The Marxists killed a whole lot more people than the capitalists. Mao by himself got more bodies than the entire WWII combined. Throw in the USSR and other minor Marxist dictators, we're looking at ~100m bodies in less than a century.

There is no other ideology that comes even close to the kill rate of Marxism.

Marxism-caused-poverty kills as well and kills more than war usually, at least in the long term, at least in YLL terms.

For example n Korea life expectancy is 73, s Korea is 83, Marxism there means approx assassinating one person ever 8 at random (on top of the actual killing) through poverty.

Marxism is by far the worst political/sociological ideology ever devised by humanity, and it kills in all variants, which is why we shouldn't subsidize it with taxpayers money, but we do in all countries :-(

lots of good stuff for the genocide lovers today. I only spent a few minutes and saw a lot of footage that should make lots of you happy.

I would imagine the post execution seen in the hallway is censored by now (separate incident I think) but I am sure you guys can find it if you look!

That's funny coming from you. Nobody in the history of 2p2 has made more posts excusing mass murder and supporting mass murderers than you have.
