Gun control

Gun control

I think that the Gun control thread got lost when the old politics thread got moved.

1 The rest of the world looks at the US policy with slack jawed astonishment.
2. “Guns don’t kill people , people do” is identical to “Nuclear weapons don’t kill people, people do”
3. Using the idea that carrying guns can prevent the government oppressing you seems to ignore the fact that the US government controls the most effective killing machine in history

A little corruption in the NRA? Say it ain't so.

by Mr Rick P

Thing is in the US there are at least 6 states that allow everyone to vote by mail now (with all or most voters receiving ballots in the mail). One of them is Utah.

They have a much higher voter % than the other states that have polling places.

Everyone involved in the bolded from the people proposing it to the people enforcing it to the people supporting it is seriously ****ed up.

Corruption can work its way into any organization even an organization such as the NRA which has arguably done more for civil rights and firearm safety than any other organization in American history. Mr. LaPierre seems to be resigning due to health issues primarily and I wish him the best. An NRA safety course was my introduction to marksmanship which still remains a hobby of mine, I would love to see the NRA partner with elementary scho

Lol at, "Fraud is acceptable when it's an organization that helps further Americans' civil rights."

You really aren't very good at trolling..

I never said fraud was acceptable, its still not proven. When have people fighting tooth and nail to take away our human rights and great organizations such as the NRA stand for what is just they will be under a microscope.

That was the tacit message behind your words. We can't help if you're not able to hide it well enough.

by PerpetualDonk P

I probably am not which is why I don't waste time doing it. I don't understand the point either

Yeah? Which banned poster are you so we can make that determination ourselves?

lol "civil rights"

turns out none of you actually care about gun rights or you would have mentioned that as-of last Wednesday, ammo can now be shipped directly to your house in CA

Nope that’s not how logic works.

They are many reasons one might not mention something

they are going to lose if the supreme court hears the case

It's a stay of the suspension pending appeal.

So they passed the law, district judge says "no way this is a blatant violation of the 2a, i suspend it's application", state of california appeals, court of appeals has to decide but meanwhile gets to decide if the law will be applied or not pending appeal, and they reverse the district judge saying the law will apply.

This isn't scotus material yet, the appeal still has to go through, with unknown results.

This is why I said

If

Well you know, the only thing stopping a bad guy with a gun is everyone attending an open air Super Bowl victory parade with a gun

Thoughts and prayers. Nothing can be done. Now isn't the time to discuss it.

One thing that could've probably been done is to leave the criminals who were shooting at each other in prison, or maybe even just send them there in the first place.

By all accounts this was a fight between rival gangs that a bunch of civilians got caught in the middle of due to where it started.

The guns were not legally obtained. The people carrying them were probably not legally allowed to do so.

Yesterday in LA, 4 people were killed by gang members who just decided to kill random people on the street. All with rap sheets. All should've been in prison.

MURICA has entirely too many people who cannot behave themselves. More prisons more better.

Solved it, not too many guns, we simply don't have enough people in prison!

If I showed you a graph of snow machines per capita of all the 50 states, would you say that Alaska has a serious problem of way too many snow machines and need to look inward for a solution, or would you say that maybe there's something different about Alaska that necessitates a seeming excess of snow machines?

Your graphs don't mean jack **** while a majority of crime in the US continues to be committed by people who have a lengthy history of criminality and should no longer be allowed to participate in society.

Lock these people up, throw away the key, and work on reducing criminality in the next generation so the US can join Iceland in behaving themselves.

Majority of people that commit crimes are white people via white collar crimes

I have no doubt in my mind that you actually believe that, but we're obviously not talking about stealing paperclips out of the supply closet or jaywalking here.

oh then please be specific.

are you saying you dont believe that white people commit the most crimes? You do know speeding is a dangerous and violent crime

I have no issue with putting the blame on the bad guy, or in many cases, the unstable person. But how about we make it just a wee bit more difficult for them to get their hands on a gun.

have a constitutional convention and there ya go

Shouldn't have to do that. We, as a nation, can decide what we want to do. Unfortunately there are way too many folks like you that think every person, regardless of their danger to society, should be armed to the teeth.
