ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

Anyway this is a good time to remind people that the USA survived having actual Nazis in the country, and they didn't even need to arrest all of them not even most of them and that was during a war against the actual Nazis, which the USA won very easily (the war with Japan required more efforts).

The USA not only survived but reached the pinnacle of world power while allowing something like a million citizens being part of pseudo Nazi groups

Which one of these actual Nazis was president, again?

Democracy must change by a cataclysmic event for it to have any value...

Uh? The opposite. Democracy has to be able to resist attacks to it to be worth anything.

If you are just a "bad election" from collapse you should change your model

Exactly , democracies ends from the top first .
And it’s funny how people like luciom just disregard project 2025 like it’s nothing or science fiction .

But he loves Putin, surely he isn't saying Putin did something bad.

Seriously, does anyone have any idea what Trump's point was in that post?

Point was clear, "Democrats like Putin warp the law against their political opponents"

But he seems to admire Putin for doing that kind of thing.

The take should be that WE do everything to ensure Democracy holds, not just sort of watch it get attacked and hope for the best.

Hmm I thought it was responsibility ?

I do not think Biden should pardon Trump anyways

Lozen, batting .250 on grammar for the post and the season.

batting .250 would get me at least 5 million a year in the big leagues.

At the end of the day, this is all Hillary Clinton's fault. The woman simply had to make a few token appearances in a handful of midwest states and the Trump saga never happens. Classic Clintons creating all the problems and dodging all the blame.

America will obviously survive all of this. Everyone has their niche interests that they hyper-focus on nowadays and I'm convinced that political theater is just one of them.

We used to have three television channels and would actually interact with your neighbors to develop camaraderie. Now, you can completely isolate yourself into your own little bubble universe by carefully curating what type of media you expose yourself to and nobody has seen a neighbor in decades. Gone are the days of media with mass appeal. Now we just have global reach of countless options with a very narrow scope.

You people have chosen the MAGA ragebait channel for the last 8 years, and now it's all you ever see.

You have to make a conscious choice to break the cycle of hate. Go say hello to a guy with a red hat and ask him what he does for a living. I'll bet more often than not you can have an entire friendly conversation without anyone feeling the need to bring up clubbing baby seals, eating trans babies, or the lifestyle of people with different color skin than you have. Most people are normal. America is fine.

Edit: "Fine" is too strong of a word, actually. America will survive. Maybe the AI overlords will figure out how to bring back a manufacturing base, though.

Project 2025 is fully democratic.

Obviously very far from the political preferences of leftwing people, but entirely within the idea ofp what democracy should allow in full, if voters agree with it.

No responsibility of the republican party which couldn't come up with anything better than Jeb! ?

Oh, you are shooting for baseball numbers with your spelling and grammar instead of 100% or a high school level proficiency? Let's change sports. Your QB rating and free throw percentages are in the toilet.

Which is opposing unconstitutional violations with as much strength as possible.

Like student debt forfeiting for hundreds of billions, which is infinitely worse than police killing a couple of unarmed guys a year in nation of 330m people.

How many people took the streets against the biggest unconstitutional theft of taxpayers money ever attempted?

by biggerboat P

POTUS incarcerated hundreds of thousands of citizens because of their race.

And democracy worked anyway.

It worked so well that the drunk, greedy, obsessive use of power of FDR convinced the nation to put constitutional term limits in.

I didn't support the student loan forgiveness either, but I don't see how it was unconstitutional. Exactly which clause would it have violated?

Lol what fantastic Intellectual gymnastic .

“The plan would perform a swift takeover of the entire executive branch under a maximalist version of the unitary executive theory — a theory proposing the president of the United States has absolute power over the executive branch — upon inauguration.[6]”

That’s democracy all right lol .
And that doesn’t take more then 1 term ….

That was definitely a black spot on the US and on Roosevelt, but it's more accurate to say it was done because of their nationality than their race. Other Asians were not put in camps, only those of the nationality which had just attacked the US.

Outside of some special cases (with the Biden admin exploited legally in full) it's simply not up to executive power to allocate financial resources of the nation.

Appropriation stays entirely with the house (with the Senate needed to agree).

Not a dollar should be spent without explicit congressional approval (in theory) for that expense.

That's the American constitution

I suppose we could chat about our jobs and hobbies. I've always wanted to learn more about coal mining and WWE.

Race, the race being japanese.

They were American citizens, many of them.

Many second and third generations.

And japanese ethnicity is very different from Korean or Chinese ethnicity

I struggle with this one. Every trumper I've ever met can't not talk about trump and how bad the democrats are. It's a huge part of who they are. I walk on at the local golf course quite a bit and I've encountered numerous republicans and that's ALL they talk about. My wife does home health and she hears it daily. I've never run into a liberal just bringing up random politics with strangers.

Not even while trump was president?
