Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I bet pointless can tell the difference between Jordanians and Palestinians (jordan are the genociders!)

Clearly you’re too scared to bet on the issue you harass me about

Blah blah blah, bet or you know I’m right

It's a weird position, because Bibi also isn't pro the Haredim draft. So what, he wants 10 years of Nam, but no additional pool of people to man the thing?
He's loco. He's just drowning before he finally goes under. Good riddance.

attempts to get aid to the North are happening. They just aren't going well.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/m...

shocker after Israel killed all the police escorts

A 14-truck convoy destined for northern Gaza was looted on Tuesday after being held at an Israeli army checkpoint for several hours, aid workers said. As the convoy turned back after the delay, it was attacked and 200 tonnes of food looted by “a large crowd of desperate people”.

That is a magical way to describe food being delivered to starving people. "Attacked and food looted" lol.

There's definitely no easy way to manage it. The IDF now have everything to lose if they administer anything, as they can't even keep their people safe. They have no viable crowd control measures. And as Vic pointed out, there are no police. So like I said, someone else is needed asap. Or this is going to get several levels worse than it already is.

They would be going much smoother if they'd been doing this since Israel claimed control instead of waiting months until the population was starving.

It doesn't seem like those are being attacked like the podcast claimed would happen.

Bibi refuses to let anyone else administer aid.

10 more years of CSI Kibbutz: Rape Investigator also seems intolerable

The WFP are the ones trying to. They stopped a few weeks back because it wasn't safe. Now they're trying to again.

I'd imagine they'll be trying to many times per week now. It still comes down to who protects the WFP. Not an easy answer there.

Btw in terms of how much Syria, Jordan, Egypt, SA etc care about the Palestinians. Imagine what the combined effort might look like for them to send 5000 people to manage the effort of distributing aid. It's nothing per country, and they'd largely be safe doing it. That it's not happening is very telling. They just don't care (yet).

Last poll showed Ganz would get twice as many seats. Ganz seems to understand PA will need to play a role in rebuilding Gaza and two states is the only reasonable way forward.

Torment me no longer!

this kibbutz?

Why doesn't some Arab nation take the population until Israel is satisfied they've built an inviolable Gaza or something

I have a plan, sire!

We're now having multiple conversations at once.

If Israel was under control of north Gaza, then they could have continued to secure it and administer aid. If they had done this then civil order would not have collapsed and the the danger we are now seeing to the trucks would not exist.

BGP, the problem is they can't control the population. You just saw what happens when armed IDF soldiers try to man a food riot. They cannot "control" this population. Despite having military control of the region. We need non-IDF peacekeepers around the local population, because the world burns every time the IDF need to use crowd control methods around these events. Every single food riot turns into "IDF strike civilians" otherwise.

"It had a crew of 20, comprising one Indian, four Vietnamese and 15 Filipino nationals. Three armed guards - two from Sri Lanka and one from Nepal - were also on board."

Don't know what the Houthis are thinking. Not much apparently.

Try to escalate to iran, usa and the whole middle east. It's solid thinking that we have to try to make sure we dont assist. Not even if we can then say that they caused it.

As I said in the post you are replying to: if Israel had not neglected that area for months, causing them to starve, they would be able to control the population.

Bibi does not allow other peace keepers inside.

This means this is entirely of Israel's doing, in particular because Bibi has refused any form "the day after" planning which has been a major complaint from Biden and others since the beginning.

Just because Israel will struggle to fix the problem they've created doesn't mean they don't have a responsibility to do so.

I wish I could refute you, but I think you are correct. It's only international pressure which is getting any aid through.

its pretty grim

Even more grim is that Ganz, who seems like the more rational of the two and far better at thinking long term, proposed cutting off all humanitarian assistance in the short term.

Also lol most of us understood from Day 1 that this operation wasn't going to wrap up anytime soon. Anyone who lived though Iraq should have seen that coming.

https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/a...

Humanitarian aid to Gaza has increased at a steady pace by airdrops and truck deliveries and is the highest since the outbreak of war, despite Hamas accusations. More food trucks entered Gaza per day in the last two weeks than during any other period since the start of the war, KAN11 reported on Wednesday morning.

In the past few weeks, an average of 102 aid trucks entered Gaza each day, with most bringing in food supplies. This contrasts the average of 70 trucks entering Gaza per day before the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7. This is an increase of approximately 50% in the number of trucks bringing in food to Gaza over the past few weeks. According to the UN, the pre-war number of aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip stood at around 500 trucks per day.

So if those northern WFP trucks can get in with regularity, there's progress

Ya, it's seems theres hardly any difference between Bibi and the moderates and liberals in Israel.
