ex-President Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:
a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?
b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

We are talking about a line in a wikipedia article?
Yes, really. I used to work for the federal government as a bureaucrat, and I didn't see any political bias in the work being done or a strong leaning politically in any direction. I worked with people for years and had no idea what political opinions anyone had, because it was not discussed at work.
Unless things have changed greatly, most federal bureaucrats do not belong to any union.
If you have an actual poll or even a study giving political leanings of these people, I would like to see it. But also please address my question of how you think career bureaucrats determine policy when their bosses are all political appointees.
That's part of what lolwat used to claim project 2025 is fascism so , yes.
This poll has results I would expect; federal employees leaning slightly to the left. Part of this is because Republican politicians love to insult the competence of government employees; that doesn't improve their popularity.
Yeah, I hate clean water and air.
Another part is that the right wing is batshit insane and I'd expect most federal employees to have a medium of intelligence - at least moreso than the average MAGA knuckle dragger.
Yeah this.
It's about what I would expect as well. Another factor is that government jobs in the U.S. don't tend to appeal to people for whom making money is the only real goal in life. And that subset of people has always skewed Republican.
Modicum* oops. Phone typing is a PITA.
stealing the 2020 election was always Plan A
Chesebro has already pleaded guilty to his role in the fake elector plot in Georgia
Almost said that as well. Those who lean left are also more likely to believe positive things can be accomplished by government so are more likely to seek employment there.
Correct
I see. How do you feel about affirmative action or other policies to increase diversity in said agencies?
Damn I thought government should hire the most qualified people not the most political …
Yup it’s historically to the left that try to prevent woman from aborting , banning books , prevent people to married who he want (gay) , etc…..
No, just the spoil system. You win the elections you fill the posts with people that reflect your policy preferences , in all policy related jobs
That’s for a guy he keep speaking about freedom but yet to work for the government u deny freedom of speech, affiliation and qualifications for a job.
And after they complain government services sucks …
Because that’s probably how they proceed in their own states .
What y'all know about freedom? Freedom from the opinion of others? Even freedom from the opinion of yourself?
don't forget, luciom 'knows an american citizen' so his opinions on our system of government are super important
Ah, so not so independent any more then, I guess. More control for the government over (formerly) independent agencies. Gosh, that sounds just super!
Oh, and not just the US - he has strong opinions on many countries and lots and lots of time to express them!
Not that I'm really criticizing; I spend a little too much time posting about our southern neighbour's politics. But he's certainly...committed. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the only site on which he posts about politics. 😀
Thinking of bodybuilding.com perhaps Bobo?
they are government even if independent lol.
and anyway as I wrote it's about executive branch agencies which are not independent by design.
Didn't have any in mind, but yeah, I think that was one of the odd sites that's known for a busy political forum, as is...is it chiefsplanet?
Yes, and you're in favour of taking away/reducing their independence. Like I said, more control for the government over (formerly) independent agencies. Gosh, that sounds just super!
no I am not jfc, the fed is independent and it's the most important one by a large margin, and project 2025 which I agree with to a large part proposes to make it even more severed from politics than now, by removing options in order to avoid the "independent" agency to help political cronies.
meanwhile arms of the executive branch that are not supposed to be independent should execute political orders without blinking every time they are constitutional orders, and that isn't possible if the employees are politically very skewed on one side and the other side wins elections.
which means that everyone with even a modicum of decision power in any stage of the process should be nominated by the winner of the elections, and serve at the pleasure of the president.
you know how it works for the white house staff? that's how it should work for all executive branch agencies.
imagine federal employees en masse considering biden illegitimate and doing their best to thwart his policies, you would consider that proper and fair? because that's what happened in 2016 and what would happen again in 2024 if trump wins and doesn't apply the aforementioned criteria where legal to do so
