Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Ukraine-Russia War Take 2

Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:

The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.

When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.

It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.

But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.

If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

Thanks.

I dont care if they have elections or not. I am just pointing out the usual liberal hypocrisy about this being a fight for democracy.

No idea what this or the rest of your post has to do with holding elections or even what you're trying to say. You're saying that they should have elections because some people say they are fighting for western democracy? But also they're not actually fighting for western democracy bu

Hamas is not fighting to defend Western Democracy and are not the recipients of billions of taxapayer money under such a false premise.

If Hamas are anti free elections, you can hardly call them freedom fighters.

Wagner on the rebound?

Great video, thanks for sharing. The WSJ article I posted yesterday about Ukraine fighting Wagner/Africa Corps in Sudan is really crazy. It sounds like Ukraine is dedicated to fighting Wagner wherever they can.

There's really no hypocrisy though since, as we just established, Ukraine is a democracy with free elections fighting against an kleptocracy.

A lot of the money came from US taxpayers, whether directly or through taxes sent to the UN. Gaza is also much smaller than Ukraine, and while Ukraine was at war from 2014-2022, I doubt it was receiving as much aid per person despite that.

But once again, what point are you trying to make? For months now you've been in here not really making any point. You just pop in to attack Ukrainians for not being perfect, often using false Russian propaganda narratives. Is there a point to this? Do you support Russia? If no, then why are you constantly repeating their propaganda narratives, even the false ones?

If someone were in the Hamas thread constantly reminding you about Hamas's ugly past, and how some of their members are less than ideal, while also never adding anything of substance to the conversation, what would you think of them?

he's very rude to me

I add a lot of substance. its just that you dont like to hear that USA put a ton of effort into causing this war, Ukraine is corrupt and full of Banderistas neo Nazis, and its in Ukraine's best interest for a cease fire.

No, you add a lot of noise.

You've provided no evidence that USA put a ton of effort into causing this war. You've just repeated Russian propaganda narratives like "NATO EXPANSION!" without an attempt to explain how that led to the war, even when I've explained in great detail how this narrative is total bs. It's just a Russian propaganda phrase at this point.

When asked to quantify how many "Banderista neo nazis" are in Ukraine, or even Azov, you've been unable to offer anything close to an estimate. When asked what they actually believe you've been unable to answer. When asked why this is important you've refused to answer. You are just using scare words to justify Russia's invasion and to attack USA's decision to support an innocent democracy from invasion. It's just a Russian propaganda phrase at this point.

We are both in agreement that it is in Ukraine's best interest to get a ceasefire. We have never disagreed on that. I've explained why a "ceasefire" that completely guts Ukraine's ability to defend itself in the future, and then given you the many instances where Russia has signed a ceasefire and then turned around and attacked again when they were able to gather their forces. For some reason you still frame your side as "pro peace" and mine as "pro war" despite this being backwards. You consistently refuse to address the actual contents of the ultimatum and just insist that Russia would have given back Kherson and Kharkiv and never have invaded again despite nothing about that being in the treaty and everything in Putin's past pointing towards the opposite. At this point it's just repeating Russian propaganda.

Feel free to prove me wrong and actually put forth an argument that can be met with a constructive argument instead of just voicing Russian propaganda narratives with no substance to back them up.

Here's an easy formula:

Say what you're saying.

Say why you're saying it.

Say why it's important.

Show evidence for what you've said.

lol

Yeah the uploader has several channels and provides good content overall on various topics. I like his ones on Ukraine/Russia as they're quite informative and thorough.
Just read your wsj linked piece now, very interesting thanks for including the non paywall version. 😉

Here we go and NOW WE'RE TALKING!

They did start IT and induced it and put all their effort in. That is in fact all true, isnt IT??!

😀

You guys already dismissed and gas lighted us, so its no longer neccessary to bring more proof. The facts are on the table.

See how the US reacts to the Russians overthrowing canada and cuba. The Russians should try that next just to Show you how dumb u are.

Youre not getting UKAINE! Never in a Million years!!!! You were never gonna get IT!!

If you thought you were youre a liar dumb or naive. Probably all of the above!! Lol

Way to go to keep the lying status quo alive! Way to go Guys!! 😉

It's interesting how the far right and far left have managed to align on this subject. The side that is simply anti anything American is now seeing eye to eye with those who adore strong men, fascism, and the violence necessary for fascism to thrive.

It was also interesting how Putin paused the interview at the very beginning for "30 seconds or a minute" to give his justifications for war. He then went off on a 30 minute revanchist history retelling explaining how in his sick mind Ukrainian people don't exist so he is justified in conquering them and committing genocide. In that 30 minutes NATO was mentioned exactly 0 times. At this point you have to be willfully ignorant to think NATO played a strong role in Putin's decision to invade.

The American congress needs to pass the ****ing Aid to Ukraine though, or we are in trouble.

They aligned but the reasons are very different.

For the maga nativists anti-intervention crowd, non american lives never have any value.

For the victor crowd, anything against American interests is a moral positive.

So victor at least understands that America is better off if Ukraine wins and sends Putin back home. He just plays for the other team.

The far right doesn't think the fate of Ukraine is of any interest for America.

Good. Condemn Russia and their use of forced conscription and cannon fodder. Back giving Ukraine what they need to force a lasting peace agreement.

Yes you are, I asked you if you wanted them to ****ing leave and you said no because no deal was reached.

Why would a deal be necessary? They have to leave and pay for all damages and be thankful if we don't go to their home and kill them for what they did

The vast majority of your posts in this thread and the previous one objectively support Russian narratives. You have consistently refused to explain why you support Russian narratives and spread Russian propaganda, so I just default to looking at why Russia spreads their own narratives: to justify their invasion and imperialism.

You have not once come out in support of aid for Ukraine, and mentioned just about every narrative which combats sending aid to Ukraine.

You refer to Ukraine's "slave soldiers" while never condemning Russia's actual use of slave soldiers.

if USA was sending a ton of money to Russia then I would condemn it. likewise, if this forum was full of a bunch of Russia cheerleaders who want the war to go on forever then I would sure condemn them.

I support the truth. if that sounds like a Russian narrative then oh well.
