Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
there arent militants at Al Shifa. it does sound likey the assassinated the police officer that was coordinating aid in the North. for obv reasons.
Are they welcomed back with open arms or are there consequences to not "welcoming" the militants back?
If Hamas wants to stash some RPG's in my bakery, I'm not sure I want to find out what happens if I tell them to **** off.
But portraying the civilians as being complicit is necessary to justify collective punishment.
You are right. Any Palestinian that told Hamas to "F off" or was seen as collaborating with Israel would face severe consequences. But that is because Palestinian society dictates the rules, and these are the rules Palestinian society chooses.
Hamas had 30,000 fighters, that is probably closer to 15,000 now. That is nowhere near the number (probably not even 20%) necessary to actually control an unwilling populace. Lets say there was some hypothetical where Israel or the US armed a faction of Palestinian militants that were pro Israel. There is zero chance such a group could operate, as there would be no societal buy-in.
Do you think Hamas is holding the people of Gaza hostage against their collective will, and if Hamas decided to pack up and leave, the dynamic of the relationship of Israel would change appreciably?
I don't.
As it relates to my previous post, I think it's not unrealistic that they could get the 15k down to 3k between killed and captured. I just don't know what evidence or likelihood there is that 3k isn't 15k again by 2030 (and 30k all over again by 2040).
The day after has to be so robust and compelling that society rejects Hamas. That sounds like the sort of nation building that doesn't really work.
Last numbers I saw were 40% supporting of Hamas, 80% supporting of what happened Oct 7th. Those numbers are months old though.
I'm not sure that's how it works. I'm sure the majority of North Koreans and even Iranians would like to see new governments but doesn't mean they rise up and rebel with pitchforks and torches.
the cruelty is the point
told yall the airdrops would do more harm than good. how is Victor always right? must be a mystery.
in the british war with its 13 colonies, (1700s-1800s), which side would you support and why?
in the british war against the irish (700- current), which side do you support and why?
Victor, you think receiving an MRE does more harm than....no food?
they dont have to eat that stuff. this is anti american propaganda. I guarantee you the kids dont give a **** if some man in the sky told a delusional human being what they can or cant eat.
yes
its going to kill many of them.
presumably and a cite from 1945 isnt a good example. I have eaten lots of MREs. They are not good for you. They are much better for you than starving.
In the Muslim wars of extermination against the Jews of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, which also started around 700, which side do you support and why?
presumably the conditions in gaza are not as bad as concentration camps from WW2. I watched a video of a palestinian dude complaining about his MRE. Personally, I do not think the people in concentration camps would have complained about MREs. Even if 5% of people die(which wont happpen) you need to consider how many would die or be killed from lack of food.
youre still on ignore cause you post dumb ass things
Visregard is not good, but they are just reposting. Definitely click so you can see the community note too.
Starvation === bad
Feeding people === bad
so x% die from airdrops hitting them. x% die from parachute ropes strangling them. x% die from airdrops destroying hospital infrastructure. x% die from Israeli's sniping them at location. x% die from Israel bombing them simultaneously. x% die from roving bands of criminals due to Israel murdering all of the police. and x% die from refeeding syndrome when a starvation ration is available.
all of these are things that have happened except the last one which will certainly happen soon.
so long as that x% adds up to less than 50, its all good, mission accomplished.
war sucks.we do what we can do limit losses.
well thats what Im saying. we arent doing what we can. 100s of trucks are just sitting there waiting to enter. the airdrops are the wrong food and a drop in the bucket. likewise the aid from sea is miniscule as well.
and thats not even getting into the material pressure the US could apply.
tho I rarely make a mistake, when I do I like to own up to it.
in this case I was quite wrong. you see, Israel has been murdering footballers for decades.
insufficiently tasty survival rations = torture itt
victor i think you are VERY BIASED INDEED against the wonderful country that is the united states
We invented carbonara in Italy with American rations around the end of world war 2
It's almost a lock that as a whole, the food will save more lives than the shitty food kills.
But If Iran wasn't so hellbent spending its billions installing hamas to purposely eradicate it's own self, they'd be the best candidate and the easiest solution to aid Gaza with food. But they don't be cause the truly are pleased with what's taking place.
Instead, you've got a country that Iran wants to destroy, sending some nuts and chews to a demolished place that Iran would like to brainwash into destroying.
