Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
if you read Columbia's reddit, the overall consensus is to fire Shafik, their new Muslim (female, if it matters) president, originally from Egypt. For "lack of trust"

https://president.columbia.edu/content/a...

The part that's sort of smile worthy is that in any Muslim nation these protesters covet and fight for, they'd have none of the rights they covet now. But in the USA, which they despise, they're worried about their freedoms (to build a tent city on campus?).

The academic left honestly delivers every time you let it

Gosh it's crazy how people have the right to protest even if they're from scary Muslim nations.

That wasn't the lesson of that post Trolly ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

But building a tent city is not a protest. Neither was building a truck encampment. Again they're gonna "find out" when Trump wins this thing. All the ****ing around now assures it.

And far right supremacists deliver too. They deliver 2000 pound bombs on babies. Then cry if we don't praise them for it.

We're talking about Columbia Victor, stay on topic for 5 seconds. How do we talk about anything when all you can do is deflect 100% of the time?

The topic is how completely this campus behavior is going to deliver the USA right into Trump's waiting arms (who is the last thing they want). Follow the bouncing ball. Talk about things people talk to you about.

Did CV really just write "I accept the ban" from a new ban-evading account?

You think this moves the needle at all for Trump? Like there is a significant amount of voters who are on the fence and now some rich kids protesting is going to push them over to Trump? He's had it in the bag since pre 10/7.

Back in the 80's we built shantys on campus in the South Africa divestment protests. And by "we" I mean me too. I did a little shanty building.

University did divest. A few years later Mandela came to speak in our area and said the support helped.

On July 1, 1990, Mandela came to the Oakland Coliseum and told 58,000 people, “It is clear beyond any reasonable doubt that the unbanning of our organization [the African National Congress] came as a result of the pressure exerted on the apartheid regime by yourselves.” He thanked the crowd and held his fist in the air.

nobody cares if Trump wins. its impossible for him to be worse than Biden at this point.

and what we really should be talking about is the 100s of executed civilians found in mass graves at Shifa and Nasser.

ofc this was another thing I predicted. when the Zionists were cheering about Hamas at the hospitals, it was quite clear they were just murdering civilians.

I think it's still close-ish. But when you hang a "genocide" on Joe and create voter apathy on the young democratic left, you're really hammering the nail in.

Add on a bit more incentive for the right to come to the polls (wanting to squash protests and im'grants and spoiled lefty kids) and yeah, I think this sort of stuff matters when an election is potentially this close.

Half a year more and they're going to see what the USA looks like when the other side calls the shots on this issue. Canada is the same. They're protesting up on Parliament hill. My friends, wait till Justin is gone and the right steps in. The RCMP is going to be very very busy.

I've bookmarked this post for bumping.

It will be a frequent bump.

You need to see some things in less binary terms. Wanting to see Palestinians survive doesn't mean wanting to "kill the Jews".

When they said "burn Tel Aviv to the ground" I didn't realize that included a plan to evacuate the city first. Just because they want to burn a Jewish city doesn't imply they want to kill any Jews. Missed that nuance....

Btw Vic, Haaretz can be trusted to cover the body story around the hospital. So as it develops, their coverage is the coverage to follow for me. They won't pull any punches as they would LOVE to hang a story like that on Bibi.

But I'll you what, they had in on their front page this morning, and NOW it's gone. Now they have it hidden away. So something is still going on with that story. Let's see it unfold. You won't see me deny anything there if they can hang that on Bibi or the IDF.

I was responding to you saying

Now we have a world where the lefties want to kill the Jews

It's a tiny minority of "lefties" who are chanting that. Most "lefties" want an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful future for Palestinians and Israelis. Modern day "lefties" are not usually by nature violent people.

Protestor protest for reasons you donโ€™t understand

Why do you think that is?

protesters probably didnt say that. most likely it was an Israel agent.

by jalfrezi P

You need to see some things in less binary terms. Wanting to see Palestinians survive doesn't mean wanting to "kill the Jews".

What does "Palestinians survive" actually mean is the real question though. Are you talking about the people or the political project?

If they all emigrated and lived happily ever after in a new country, would that be good enough for you?

If they decide to stay and fight to conquer Israel for eternity until most of them are killed, but the political project of destroying Israel "survives" is this acceptable?

Or is your concept of survival is they stay and fight while the rest of the world refuses to let Israel win, until Israel is destroyed and they win by default?

so much misinformation. that has already been debunked numerous times.

Well, it certainly doesn't help Biden. The issue is less that people are going to vote for Trump than they just aren't going to vote for Biden. Of course Trump has his own issues that are turning off prospective voters, namely his legal issues.

Keep in mind this is all a warm up. The real fun is going to happen at the Democratic convention in Chicago this summer if the Democrats aren't careful.

Guys guys, always just a minority. This one is making the rounds from campus.

Btw I've seen the emails the President is sending parents. Lol not exactly the words of a tyrant.

isnt that the account that lied about the Ah Ahli bombing too?

yep,

and then they deleted the lies so people couldnt remember how brazen they were.

by Bluegrassplayer P

Yeah this is why Haaretz pulled it from the front page. Yes there are bodies. Yes it's starting to look like the Palestinians buried their own there.

But in fairness to them, they are running out of places to put them. So there's still a dark tinge to this. But most likely, it's not the story people think. Let's give it the day to breath. Usually the truth gets sorted out.

Or is your concept of survival i

Pretty obviously means an end to the attempts to genocide them and destroy Gaza. Israelis should vote in a more moderate, conciliatory government but some chance of that ever happening.
