ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

And half the nation can't see it.

God (or somebody) help us all!

i think many see it and look at Biden and think he is even worse.

I don't agree with them but if you want to understand what's going on, look at what they are actually telling you

I could say the same about anyone using a left wing hack as a source. Which is often in this forum. And you know what they say. Even a broken clock can be right twice a day. In this case i agreed with his characterisation of the modern left as more fascist than the right. That doesn't mean I agree with everything he says.

But suit yourself. If you don't want to engage then don't.

If i took all the references from dictionary, encyclopedias, etc from the wiki link
And I posted all individually the article and definition of fascism , would u change your stance ?

Ps:could u at least quote some passages where u think d’Souza is right ?

using "fascism" randomly to mean "authoritarian choices I dislike" is what the left does all the time, I don't think it's particularly smart to do what they do.

if you want to claim that right now, in the USA, the left has more violent authoritarian tendencies toward citizens than the right make your case, and I think you can make a good case if you are careful with your claims.

I suggest you don't use very redicolous charlatans to strengthen your case though (even if they can occasionally be vaguely correct about something)

but if we start throwing fascist around in the conversation just to mean we disagree with some political choices we become like them

Which left wing hacks have been quoted lately?

What do you view as the most neutral source? I always thought aljazeera

I'm going to speculate that they're not likely neutral on any conflicts between Arab country and Israel.

I'm guessing Biden could make a statement regarding the holiday which honors the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces made to rid the nation of the blight of slavery without using the phrase "human scum". Or at least not in the first line.

Has Trump ever made a statement about any holiday that he didn't make about himself and/or an opportunity to rant about something?

I have to say though, I found that one more bizarre than most of his, because the things he's ranting about are months old. At least if it was about something that happened in the last day or two, it could be seen as him being distracted by this "terrible thing" he had just undergone. When it's about something that happened weeks or months ago, it's even more transparent than usual that the message really isn't about the holiday at all. But I guess at this point, he's done it so often that it's all as transparent as an open window anyway, so why not?

The appeals are ongoing, the things he described are very plausibly open wounds for him, it's not settled matters

Honouring Memorial Day in a respectful, totally not unhinged, normal manner...

Trump apparently confused Memorial Day with Festivus
and decided it was time for him to air some grievances.

Trump reposted a disturbing video.

He calls the press criminals but calls criminals patriots.

this just happened. I said trump reminded me of the Nazi party, and it scared the hell out of me how
he wanted to be like Hitler. She literally chuckled and said "Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing."

Watching all this from Canada scares the crap out of me. The entire world is affected by American politics.
If you don't keep Biden in office we will all suffer the consequences for decades to come.

She's probably figured out by now that she'll never get paid anyway.

Why do you think that? Her appeal isn't so obviously a slam dunk for Trump. He might have a good shot to reduce the amount but why do you think she won't see a dime? Especially if DJT stock doesn't go to 0, trump will have plenty of assets to his name to pay

She'll definitely get paid the bond (which should've never been reduced) as it's a cash account that is in control of the state, but the rest Trump will slow-walk forever. (Assuming she wins the appeal.)

Afaik Carroll bond has never been reduced, it's posted in full accounting for interest (more than 100m), it's the civil case for fraud against NYS which saw Trump bond reduced.

Sorry 92m bond (for 83m judgement iirc)

Or it's because Trump is too dumb to keep his mouth shut and continues to defame her from his bully pulpit.

You are correct, I mixed cases up. Mark it down.

Because he always seems to get away with everything. Will they ever actually seize his assets? Because no judge puts him in jail when he doesn't follow legal orders.

Trump boasted about rolling back sexual assault rules on college campuses

weakening the guidelines universities need to follow after receiving an allegation of sexual assault

stricter standards for what qualifies as sexual assault and reformed
the adjudication process in ways seen as more favorable for the accused.

The changes were widely promoted among conservatives as a means of protecting men

little surprise that Trump, a man who has been recorded admitting to sexual assault and
has repeatedly mocked a woman he’s been found liable in court of sexually assaulting,
weakened guardrails designed to prevent and punish sexual assault

Trump’s boast over the weekend is another indicator that his campaign,
and today’s conservative movement, is primarily built around
hypermasculine politics and, in particular, the idea of male victimhood

They were already moving to seize them yes had he not posted the bond (for the civil fraud case), I posted several articles about that at the time.

It's not about jail in these two cases, they are civil cases.

As per article, trump regulations made it so that sexual assault accusations in universities had to work like criminal accusations work in the real world, which is not a far right value rather a rule of law value.

You shouldn't be punishable for something you allegedly did if it isn't proven beyond reasonable doubt in general, you should be able to counter interrogate your accuser (and know who he is) and so on

I understand they are civil cases, but he should face jail if he just ignores paying the judgement.

I was thinking about the multiple gag orders he has violated. Anyone else would have been put in jail multiple times.

It's so crazy that he and his supporters think he is treated worse by the justice system because they are biased against him. In reality he has gotten away with breaking the law without consequence since the 1970s and continues to do so.

All the courts are clearly biased in support of him, from the Florida judge who is killing the case there up to the Supreme Court who does nothing but stall in hopes he will get reelected. And even within the Biden administration, AG Garland completely dropped the ball himself by taking so long to do anything about the January 6 incident. Either he is just totally incompetent or else he's biased for Trump as well.

I don't think that an institution of learning should necessarily have to do things the same way as civilian court of law. They're not sending anyone to prison. Even military courts don't follow have to follow the same rules as civilian courts, as they realize that there may at times be valid reasons to protect the institution over the charged individual, and they do send people to prison.
