ex-President Trump

ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:

a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?

b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

I don't doubt this mobilizes some with MAGA inclinations who might normally slightly too lazy to show up and vote. That said, even in these weird times I can't imagine 36 felony convictions is a net asset for any campaign.

Of course I know better than to expect the overall needle to move much. Jan 6th didn't do it, being found civilly liable for sexual assault didn't do it, his part in getting Roe v. Wade overturned (probably) didn't do it...the bar before today was already set somewhat lower than felony convictions over paying hush money to a porn star.

It's perfectly legal to pay someone off to not speak about an affair she claims she had. It's called a Non Disclosure Agreement. And when you do pay someone not to talk after President Trump's lawyers drew up legal docs and sent her the money, it's called a "legal expense".

Those are his alleged "crimes", which are all perfectly legal.

What President Trump DID do is prove how corrupt the system....

Man, where were you when they were picking the jury or making closing arguments.

He proved how corrupt the system was by committing crimes and getting convicted.......loooool.

So ****ing funny.

I know MAGA is all in on their manbaby by any means necessary but this idea that millions of people who wouldn’t vote or wouldn’t vote trump are now mobilized to vote for trump cuz he’s a convicted felon cuz something something witch hunt might be the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard

Violated NY 175.10. First Degree Falsification of Business Records. This has been covered extensively.

They charged him with listing a payment for "hush money" as a "legal expense"? The law is very specific and states he needs to do that to hide evidence of a real crime so what crime was he hiding when he listed it as a business expense?

There's is no crime. But there WAS a crime when Hillary poured bleach over her computers and smashed her cell phones to hide evidence, and when pResident Biden took classified documents home when he was VP the independent council (who was a republican, which shows there's corruption on both sides) assigned to investigate it said "we're gonna pass on filing criminal charges against him because he's just a forgetful old man" it should easily show how corrupt and one sided the injustice system is.

Well this thread hasn't disappointed tonight. A+

Election interference and/or Campaign Finance violations. With a little tax fraud mixed in. Again, this is all easy to find. Why are you acting like you don't know this? Do you legitimately not? Who do you have to blame for that since it's easy to find?

And it doesn't just use the word "hiding." It also uses the words "commit" or "aid" (in addition to "conceal").

My fault it's only 34 guiltys, not 36. He's fine

MAGAT Mike the Mouth was literally on HCL a few months ago being a MAGAT with Verdouche

It's shocking that you don't understand that hush money payments are not legal expenses. Just shocking.

This isn't up for debate. He was charged, it went through court, he was convicted. Objectively he committed (at least) 34 crimes. Why are you doing this?

No there are definitely some out there in the aggregate. I don't know where the millions part came from unless you mean DS's post, but my point is whatever theoretical gain might be had from whatever iota of people this applies to is going to be at least offset by others. And I'm surer about the first part than the second.

There are just so many disaffected types that read any institutional action as evidence of corruption and not all of them are of dyed-in-the-wool MAGA people or 19 year olds who don't vote. And maybe it's a very small number but when polls have this within the margin of error already...

A mailer that went out in Texas

MAGA is a sea of god damn lunatics

SRM you're reading those notices like an ordinary reasonble person. Now read them again from the perspective of a small town Texas voter, specifically one who also happens to be gullible and susceptible to fearmongering. Maybe make yourself about 60 years old with IQ of 90.

If you need a warmup just fire up some Kid Rock and maybe a YT video about rapist Mexicans first.

There seems to be a technical aspect to the jury instructions that is problematical. I might be wrong about my facts and if so this post can be deleted.

If I am not mistaken it is a felony to commit a misdemeanor that helps you commit another misdemeanor So if I steal a bicycle to drive to the zoo to abuse a zebra it is a felony. If a juror is convinced I did those two things he should vote to convict me of a felony. But suppose I am accuse

Let's logic this out Dave, do you think the most high-visibility case in American jurisprudence is built upon a basic logical fallacy that somehow only you noticed? Real puzzler there.

tbf matusow noticed it first

The few MAGA folks this is going to drive to the polls who would not have voted otherwise is going to be overwhelmingly outvoted by the millions and millions of immigrant criminals and mentally ill who are being brought to this country every day by the Democrats.

Come on, people, think! This is simple mathematics.

Of course they are going to appeal . This case was just a kangaroo court with tons of issues to appeal

It’s a historic moment in the USA but trust the rule of law that there is a system to review this

I haven't followed this for one second probably. Glad he got convicted. Not because I hate Trump so much but because if he was found innocent it would seem like some 3rd world banana republic **** to put some bs charges on a political rival.
34 of 34 man. I think the US is super corrupt but not to this degree. Really bad optics for your boy.

I wonder just how disappointed Trump must feel that his followers aren't rioting in protest in the streets all over the US.

Guys lozen isn’t a trump fan though

05/30/2024 Trump becomes convicted felon.
07/11/2024 Trump is sentenced.

07/15/2024 Republican National Convention starts.

That is going to be one interesting GOP shindig trying to pretend Trump didn't already get the One Two Teddy.

I think this helps Trump more than hurts him. IMO most of you guys live in upper middle class bubble echo chambers and have no theory of mind for how the rest of the country thinks.

The betting markets seem to agree with me. Time will tell I guess.

I don't think it helps him, like he's not gaining votes because of being convicted on 34 felonies but probably doesn't move the needle much for his supporters.

I agree with you. People in thier bubbles won't understand. Going against a ruling elite is the most american thing ever. It's not great to have nut case as the anit-hero. I remember him asking some doctor if we can give people bleech for covid. This was live lol during a covid press conference. Doc shoulda said yes but only if we print the label in gold. But people that think oh hey the govt and media can just spoon feed.... I don't think they understand what scumbags we are.

Right, not following the thread. Forgot Lozen is a staunch independent.
