ex-President Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at low-info Boomers like my religions aunts. I have two questions:
a) Is anyone here who supports Trump bothered by lies like this?
b) Does anyone know what he's even talking about here? Like is there some grain of truth that he's embellishing on bigly?

Cohen went to jail for these same crimes.
No, the low number is the least and the high number is the most. In this case, the metric is terribleness, so one would be the least terrible and your posting would be the most terrible.
If I ask "how pretty was she?" 10 would be the prettiest; if I ask "how ugly was she?" 10 would be the ugliest. There is no "worst" or "best", just least and most.
Then the converse is true? If Trump DIDN'T commit a crime but WAS convicted...the conviction wouldn't meant that he was a criminal? Or it would?
No one that calls people trumpers and ant-vaxxers in my life answers my questions irl.
If Trump wears full Nazi regalia for a private screening of Downfall, is it still identity politics?
Get this guy, PlayBig and IHIV back into their own thread and you have a party
"The Trump Organization" was convicted of 17 criminal charges in 2022 so yeah, hes a criminal either way you spin it.
People say things like 'trumpers go beserk when you mention x' but all I see from such people is jibberish responses
Thats breaking the tenants of reasonable dialogue. It wasn't the question I asked, urs is a straw man of my intended question.
I only find this from people that call others trumpers. I've NEVER had a reasonable response from such persons.
I think your response is complete jibberish nonsense to be honest.
My comment definitely isn't a straw man, and certainly wasn't unreasonable.
******2 responded gibberish.
My question of if he hadn't committed the crimes but was convicted would he thus be a criminal...is straw manned if your answer is...
"well trump is a criminal anyways so ya" and that means you left reasonable dialogue.
I don't think you're really in a position to be calling anyone out for "gibberish responses", considering you've made a decade-long posting career out of them on this forum.
I can only speak to myself but I assure you I don’t owe you an actual response and can assure you you won’t find one here
You aren’t interested in actual discussion. Only the noise you’ve come up to try to do whatever it is that gets you off
Good luck god bless
the issue is that republicans do not prosecute people for wrong doing. if this was the normal nobody would care. but its not. republican parts sux. How can you support trump when he gave the russians and chinese our secrets?
If he didn't commit the crimes for this conviction then he would still be a criminal because the company he owns with his name on it was convicted criminally a few years ago.
Are you asking if he had never committed crimes would he still be a criminal? No, crime is the secret ingredient to being a criminal, but hes committed a bunch of crimes so the thought experiment is pointless
Its the same irl. These are simple philosophical questions that move beyond calling others 'trumpers', I've yet to find such a person that will enter into dialogue. They rely on the moderation of the context.
thats not the nature of the question that was called gibberish.
I'm asking if the people calling others 'trumpers' are capable of saying trump wouldn't be guilty regardless of conviction. I'm asking if they believe trump needs to be convicted one way or another. And I'm also intending to implicitly ask if these same persons believe that just because someone DOESN'T get charged or convicted doesn't it mean they are innocent.
I have never heard people that call others trumpers make these distinctions.
You mean like send a bunch of "patriots" and fake electors to the capital to hang the vice president?
He would then be a wrongfully convicted person. No idea what is so difficult about that, or what your point was with the question.
Do you feel the word "trumper" means something other than a person who supports Trump?
I thought his supporters likely called themselves that, as they call others "never Trumpers". What do they call themselves?
I don't know why its so difficult either. And if his opponent was a criminal and hadn't been convicted, they would still be a criminal?
It's the lowest felony in NY and there is a presumption against jail time for a first offender of the lowest felony which weighs against him receiving any jail time. 34 counts and his general assholiness weighs in favor of jail time.
There is a sense on which pretty much every adult is a criminal. It's a fuzzy concept.
There is some fuzzy line where most people would consider a person criminal if they committed enough crimes or severe enough crimes, even if not convicted.
I doubt whatever gotcha you are building to amounts to much, but you might as well spit it out.
The nuance seems important to me at this time. For example my mom doesn't care if he's a criminal, she wants the conviction and people to see him as such because she believes that if he becomes president then he will destroy the democracy...
So she believes we must block trump at all costs. I claim she gets this from CNN...does no one here share that stance?
Great banana republic style circus, prosecuting main political appointment. Will make a good show if he gets sent to jail right away or gets 100 years.
"trump wouldn't be guilty regardless of conviction" - I think its possible for someone to be wrongly convicted of crimes, but I do not think it is possible that is what happened to Donald Trump.
Conversely, its entirely possible for someone guilty of crimes to not get convicted. I probably wouldn't call them a criminal unless I had some intimate details of their criminality though.
I had a Brittish buddy get offended when I called someone else a trumper and I thought it was weird. I guess there is an implied insult as I think anyone who admires Trump is very likely to be a moron, but Trumper just means someone who admires Trump.
Are you offended when people say Trumper?
I keep hearing over and over from the media and politicians that nobody is above the law.
Meanwhile George W Bush will never spend a day in court for his crimes.
