Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Well every person in Hamas is a terrorist according to several countries.
And material supporters of Hamas can be treated as such even if they aren't official hamas members.
So yes i agree 15k is a lowball estimate, can't consider wives and adult daughters of hamas members, and hamas material supporters, automatically innocent victims for example.
Lol? everyone who knew the location of an hostage and didn't tell that to IDF counts. Everyone who knew someone is hamas and helped him in any way fight against IDF counts.
He asked about the number of dead terrorists, not total number.
As tens of thousands of women and children have been murdered by the repulsive state of Israel it's safe to assume that the number of dead terrorists is much lower.
Because for unknown reasons you want women and "children" to be automatically excluded.
Why, as i asked, do you think women can't be part of the "resistance"? keep in mind that any material support to Hamas at any stage makes them fair targets.
Same for adolescents boys and girls.
a 16y old helps moving stocks of hamas weapons: fair target.
a 16y old helps bringing food to the hostages: fair target.
Wife of hamas member helps husband or colleagues in any way to achieve any hamas aim: fair target
Anyone who in any capacity helped hamas is a fair target, women and "children" included. And can be labelled a terrorist
So despite all evidence to the contrary, photographic, video and eye witness, you believe that no one under the age of 16 has been killed by Israel.
Never wrote or implied that.
I wrote and implied that among the 40k deaths, a lot of them were hamas collaborators or hamas proper . Almost certainly more than 40% of the total.
You think 15k out of 40k being linked to hamas is an excess estimate, i think it's a very lowball estimate. For the reasons given.
And so the IDF killed an incredibly low ratio of innocents , the lowest in warfare world history in urban settings, while pursuing fair targets.
We should all praise the IDF for the exceptional morality and efficiency they have shown and learn from them.
You don't have the numbers to back up this hyperbole.
you can counter me with any example you might have in mind of urban warfare, without the population being evacuated, where the civilians to combatants death ratio was lower than 25k to 15k.
I'll wait.
Hopefully we never will but ridiculous to think iits anything like impossible.
yes, and equally ridiculous to think that the chance of hamas raping and murdering thousands of israeli civilians in future has not been greatly diminished by the actions of the IDF since the start of the war
You made the numbers claim, it's clearly up to you to cite.
If not Hamas then someone else, as long as Israel continues to deny Palestinians their own country while grabbing more of the WB.
Some examples please.
i'm using hamas as an umbrella term to include hamas and the other terrorist organisations operating out of gaza - the chance that any of their members rape or kill any israeli civilians has been greatly diminished due to the actions of the IDF in killing their soldiers and leaders, and dismantling their infrastructure, since oct 7
This is not fair
You don't think ratting out Hamas could not end in dire consequence for that person,, their family, their extended family, their friends?
afaik Hamas hasn't the tools to break even whatsapp encryption.
And we have a word for that, it's called omertà, what helped mafiosos for a long time
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omert%C3%A...
No i don't justify people for not ratting out especially in the age of information when it is exceptionally easy to communicate facts to third parties without no one ever knowing you did it.
If we include hamas or similar, and we extend it to attrocities against israel in general then sorry no it's not anythign like ridiculous.
its ridiculous
You agree with many of their requests. Starting with a complete ceasefire and IDF leaving Gaza.
And in supporting those requests, you support them, because if things go according to those requests, Hamas can rebuild the capacity to strike Israel.
You don't perhaps "cheer" for them explicitly, but you agree with choices that will help them.
Many of those women and children were probably terrorists. Or hiding terrorists under the table in the schoolroom or under the hospital bed. Who can know.
LOL So everyone wanting a ceasefire is a terrorist supporter?
Corrected that for you.
It's true that a population that has been exterminated is not likely to cause much trouble.
Wanting a ceasefire on Hamas' terms, yes.
