It was completely predictable. The media and WH calling the Biden senile videos as "deep fakes" was comical. And the Biden supporters itt ate it up. We still have a Biden supporter itt saying that Biden gave a great performance at a rally yesterday. OMG.

i've never voted biden outside a general. the video on stage where he paused sitting down and the paratrooper video were both edited and pushed out by the nypost tabloid. that isn't even really debated by anyone anymore. lol.

Man, reading the comments here it's really looking like Biden is a total own goal situation for the dems, and a completely avoidable one at that. Why is he even on the pitch? Wasn't his job to win 2020 then step aside?
he never outright said it, but his 2020 campaign was that of a bridge, just a short term bandaid to lean into an establishment figure without much to lose to take down trump - he alluded to this heavily and strongly implied he was a short term solution
top up and coming candidates rarely throw their hat into the ring to face an incumbent because traditionally they win re-election and will instead opt to wait until the next cycle as a fresh face rather than "the loser from 4 years ago"

in our parties, the president is always the de facto leader so there's no real ability to tell a standing president to go be a good boy and step down and have it carry much gravitas
sure you could convince him to step down - but the people in his ear every day do not want that, they lose all their power and influence once he's done - probably why regan still ran for a 2nd term even though he probably thought he was an orange for half of it

In theory I agree with this but the Dems bench is an absolute treasure trove of who gives a ****. DNC is so out of touch that they can’t build candidates with broad appeal. Newsom is an elitist with no flyover appeal, Harris has no charisma and is widely reviled. If not for George Floyd (allegedly) KloBo woulda been the VP and not her

regarding the paratrooper incident, my understanding was there were multiple videos. the first, that went viral and was a "misinformation" "cheap fake" showed biden wandering off into nomansland. a second "fact check" video showed he was in fact wandering toward a group of parachutists who were posing for a picture together off to the side. for example, this nbc fact check article decrying the cheap fake introduces a "2nd angle to viral Biden clip" rather than an "unedited Biden clip". while certainly more favorable than wandering off toward ghosts, it is not much better. in both versions, he is ignoring the photo op spectacle that all the G7 leaders are witnessing (a paratrooper making a live landing) to go attend to a group off to the side that is not supposed to be in the spotlight. in both versions, he has to be physically corralled by Giorgia Meloni and brought back to the matter at hand. not helping is this headline photo nbc inexplicably chose to run for the story:

i mostly agree, but if history has taught us anything it's that every election cycle there is some non-negligible portion of americans who pretend they have amnesia and are true tabula rasa voters in this election cycle. my personal belief is they are narcissists who like to pretend it is the candidates' job to woo them, impress them and feed them grapes, but that is neither here nor there. the point is they exist, and if you want them to choose the person other than a clownshow fascist orange man, it needs to be someone with a pulse and a hint of charisma. based solely on thursdays debate performance i wouldn't fault an alien (who has no prior knowledge of the last 8 years) for concluding trump is better equipped to lead this country.
