The concern is that he won't leave office in 2029 at 82 years old after his second term as president? If that's the main concern I'm not too worried lol.

I’ve been day drinking getting ready to bbq so this isn’t as fleshed out as I would like but here are the cliffs:

Trump by simply being trump exposed that American democracy really doesn’t have safeguards and has been to this point reliant on blind trust that people who hold the office play by implied rules. SCOTUS just said essentially, as long as you’re president when you do something you’re immune to the consequences. Biden could theoretically have trump killed tomorrow, claim immunity, and essentially get it. He won’t

What in trump’s 4 years as president would give you the impression that given another 4 years he won’t take a blank check given to him to do whatever he wants?

The problem with this is that trump is an idiot who doesn’t want to deal with policy, he just wants the power and if someone is willing to do policy for him he’s down for whatever the **** they tell him as long as he can just reap the benefits. Reminder: trump is a democrat from New York who inherited millions upon millions who can’t name a single verse from the Bible but is at least intelligent enough to understand mouth breathers adore him so he’s perfectly content claiming to be morally adjacent to what they want as long as they give him power

Enter project 2025. Enough people with no moral scruples about what they’re trying to achieve and the collective intelligence to know how they are able to legally execute it based on today’s legal standings are basically doing what that guy in the Simpsons movie did for president Arnold. ‘Don’t think, we laid out the blueprint, just let us execute it and claim credit for it without needing to lift a finger.’ There has never existed a candidate more perfect for that than donald trump.

So basically, you have a guy who loves power, has bloodlust and is the pettiest human being to walk the earth who wants the power and fame but none of the responsibility (see: heritage essentially naming 3 SCOTUS justices and just giving trump the names) and will do anything possible to keep that power and an arm who will pander to that and tell them how to subject the country to authoritarian Christian rule which trump is perfectly content with cuz he gets to enrich himself, shield himself from punishment, and basically wipe his ass with the intention of the constitution cuz he is an amoral human being whose singular priority is himself

Seems bad

Trump meets privately with Putin and then gives Putin top secret spy info. Then all of our assets in China get killed at once

I wonder why

damn, you just convinced me to join MAGA

"Top American counterintelligence officials warned every C.I.A. station and base around the world last week about troubling numbers of informants recruited from other countries to spy for the United States being captured or killed, people familiar with the matter said.

The message, in an unusual top secret cable, said that the C.I.A.’s counterintelligence mission center had looked at dozens of cases in the last several years involving foreign informants who had been killed, arrested or most likely compromised. Although brief, the cable laid out the specific number of agents executed by rival intelligence agencies — a closely held detail that counterintelligence officials typically do not share in such cables."

"Over 13,000 government documents were recovered. They included nuclear-related information and FBI, CIA, and NSA information about national security interests. Of these documents, 337 were classified: 197 handed over in January 2022, 38 turned over under subpoena in June 2022, and 102 seized in the August search of Mar-a-Lago."

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Chinese woman recently arrested at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club lied repeatedly to Secret Service agents while carrying computer malware unlike anything a government analyst had ever seen and had more than $8,000 in cash at her hotel room, along with an electronic device that detects hidden cameras, federal authorities told a judge Monday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rolando Garcia told Magistrate Judge William Matthewman during a bond hearing that "there are a lot of questions that remain" about 32-year-old Yujing Zhang.

He said the FBI is investigating whether Zhang is a spy.

"Zhang was arrested March 30 after Secret Service agents said she lied to gain admission to the president's Palm Beach resort and was found to be carrying two Chinese passports, four cellphones, a laptop computer, an external hard drive and a thumb drive containing the malware."

Why wouldn’t he stay ?
Why aren’t you worried ?
I would really love to hear another POV about it shrug .
U don’t think January 6th and the Georgia phone call wasn’t about him trying to stay in power through illegal means ?

by lozen P

Not sure.

Let’s say it was - does that mean you can dismiss everything they say?

They way it’s looking the gen pop is going to get some hard lessons on what it means to surrender the already fragile checks and balances in place. You’d really have to be a full on idiot to think that deporting a bunch of Mexicans, removing gay and trans rights, and adding bibles to schools is the end of the story. There isn’t an end to the list of people to scapegoat and some are a lot higher on it than they realize.

Of course I could be completely wrong. If it turns out that God did send down Trump to bring righteousness and to look out for the average American I’ll apologize. Maybe it’s my elitist liberal wokeness and atheism but that’s just kind of hard to see right now.

Because I don't think he will so I'm not worried about that tinfoil speculation.

Also not overly worried what has a slim chance of happening in America 4.5 years.

Even if he does try, I'm guessing he won't be successful in the same way he wasn't successful after last time.

That’s foolish given events we’ve already seen take place.

Republicans in most red states have been working since 2021 to make sure that next time there aren't so many obstacles in the way to prevent the transfer of power.

The maga crowd and a substantial percentage of republicans already in congress (and at the state level) absolutely don't believe in democracy.

As compared to the previous generations of cops, healthcare, prisons, environmental regulations, working conditions and govt assistance.

But yeah, social media has really ****ed up a lot of peoples mental state in the last 10 years and it leads them to feeling as if they are living the terrible life as they keyboard their misery inducing talking points from other ****ed up individuals to others on the internet

Guessing you've been financially comfortable most or all of your life?

Being poor in America is miles better than India or Mexico. But it is still pretty miserable, and it's only miserable because of the greed of politicians and those who own them.

Even if you're a bit above poverty, it's not much fun.

The internet has allowed people to realize it doesn't have to be this way. It turns out they were lying all along about how we can't pay for uhc. Universal HC is actually much cheaper.

You have online friends in Canada and England. You ask them if it's true that they have to wait for six months to have a GSW treated. Nope. Their system is pretty good. Even conservatives say our healthcare system sounds like a nightmare. They pitty us.

You realize it's all just an extortion racket and Rs and Ds are happy to kill people who don't pay. They'd kill you. They'd kill your kids.

Was just watching a vid by an American in Japan. The dude is not political. I doubt he really follows pols. But he mentioned how as a kid in America his parents couldn't afford to take him to the doctor except emergencies. Didn't want that for his kids.

I don't think the internet brainwashed people into some sort of delusional state because they don't want to be extorted for medical care.

Well I’m disappoint.
I think the relying on goodwill from that man and its folllowers is long gone .
I though u had something new :( .

Should we really comparing the U.S. with country like Mexico and India to be proud of how great a country is ?

Or we should at least compared the US with the G7 or similar high end gdp countries ?

Historically, the power of the president has been limited by congress and the courts. For republican presidents, as of now there are pretty much no limits. Calling election officials and telling them to get more votes for the president after the election is over is fine. Calling foreign leaders and telling to open a sham investigation into a US citizen and political opponent is fine. Getting the FBI and DOJ to let crimes go on because it helps a friend is fine. Watergate today would be fine. None of those are good imo.

I think as individuals we should be grateful for our good fortune to be born in the modern US. Even if you make 30k, you have so much that most people have not had. You will never experience something like a famine, or the local war lord raping you wife and daughter and cutting off your hands. It's important to realize that ish has been very real for millions upon millions.

You can simultaneously realize that the common people are quite a bit worse off than in comparable countries and this is due entirely to greed.

If you're going to troll by responding to a misstated comment as if the writer meant it at least have the decency of demonstrating the basic level of reading comprehension required to actually be correct that it was misstated.

(chillrob said exactly what he meant, which is the exact opposite of what you have implied he said - red states have removed obstacles that made it difficult to prevent the transfer of power, meaning democrats are in fact on the side of enabling the smooth transfer of power)

I disagree with your reading comp.

Republicans in most red states have been working since 2021 to make sure that next time there aren't so many obstacles in the way to prevent the transfer of power.

Let's break it down.

Republicans are trying to prevent the transfer of power. - that's bad

Oh wait, they are actually removing obstacles that prevents that transfer. - that's good

It’s poorly written but he obviously meant removing obstacles with the intent of making transfer of power harder.
