This is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve ever seen on 2+2. I’ve thought about multi-quoting some of the highlights of people trying to draw comparisons to trump and the nazis or fascists but there are too many of them.
Mods, move this whole convo to the conspiracy theory thread.
Back on topic: bovadas odds to win the next election:
Trump -175
Kamala +500
Biden +550
There are MAGA dudes proudly wear nazi symbols. They are organized in militant groups. How is it ridiculous to compare them to nazis or fascists when they literally display SS bolts, swastikas, etc? These are the people who helped Trump organize the coup on January 6.
I would say the Dems have done this worse with gaslighting the whole Biden not fit for office for years . It happens in politics, sports and entertainment
Add in the fact they are attempting to block RFK from the ballot and debates
brother I think you might be concerned with the people that Joe Biden is sending billions dollars worth of weaponry to in central Europe.
I thought it was obvious that my posts were a reaction to the repeated parroting of "fascist" over and over again in this thread to mean "anything I don't like", not some sort of statistical analysis of how often it is used by political parties. I am not sure why you keep going on this kick of "Republicans say this more than Democrats say that", when I am talking about this thread.
BTW, you don't need a president to be a literal Fascist for that president to cause long lasting, sometimes irreparable damage to a country. See Andrew Johnson, Woodrow Wilson, James Buchanan, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon. Even worse than Trump's narcissism and authoritarian streak is his general incompetence and stupidity. We have already seen how our enemies capitalized on four years of Trump buffoonery, and we are headed for another four years of gross incompetence at a time when we cannot afford it as a nation.
After the debate, I really don't see Biden pulling this off. Besides the obvious issue that Biden is going to refuse the blow to his ego and drop out, there is also the added issue that we don't really have anybody to put in his place. Harris would likely get trounced even worse, Michelle Obama has stated she wants nothing to do with the White House for another four years, and Gavin Newsome would not be palatable to huge swathes of voters in this country. Who can we put out there if Biden does decide to bow out?
see guys, you can say disparaging things about trump while using valid and real terms instead just defaulting to fake descriptions of fascism
It's well documented the people who planned the capitol attack with MAGA are mostly white supremacist, neo nazi, or neo confederate groups. It's well documented. They're literally nazis in some cases.
See: Participants, groups, and criminal charg...
This is not calling anything I don't like nazi. They are actually nazis.
Would you object to describing Trump as a right wing authoritarian with fascistic tendencies?
I think using the word "fascist" at all undermines the credibility of legitimate criticism lodged against him. It allows his people to just wave away attacks on Trump and the MAGA-right as Trump Derangement Syndrome and makes it easier to ignore the legitimate danger he poses to our republic.
It’s the cops and politicians being held to a different legal standard than everyone else that does it for me
Legalized slavery? Fascism
Shooting black people for owning guns? Fascism
Making selling drugs illegal between two consenting adults? Fascism
Bribing the judiciary so that you can get your unethical laws passed? Fascism
Bankrupting small corporations and then bailing out the large ones (who donate to your PAC) = fascism
Arresting cops for murder less than 1% of the time but arresting citizens for self defense when a cop assaults them = fascism
Don’t get me started on international policy
If only we had a catchy word to describe the danger posed by right wing authoritarianism...

This isn't math. There is no argument you can make against Trump that "his people" won't wave off. Losing an election, exhausting all legal avenues, then resorting to secret calls pushing to just arbitrarily make him the winner or arranging fake electors is reasonably called fascist. If Trump hadn't done these things and they were just hypotheticals nobody would have an issue with calling it fascist. Because Trump actually did that stuff Trumpers and both sides bros are forced to pretend like t's not.
Like how you highlight the first two sentences and completely ignore the next two sentences, which are an essential and defining part of Fascism. Didn't expect anything less from you.
I don’t give credit to trump for much of anything but I give him some credit for recognizing project 2025 is a bad ****ing look (only after people realized this was a thing)
Then the Beer Hall Putsch wasn't fascist and parties in France or the UK in the 30s that openly called themselves fascist aren't fascist either. Great definition!
The Supreme Court just gave the President presumptive immunity during official acts lol
Do you believe this to be more fascist or less fascist than before?
How dare people draw comparisons to Fascism when Trump is talking about retribution, calling Democrats vermin, saying that immigration is poisoning the blood of the nation, lying pathologically on national TV completely unchecked, using the military to throw minorities into cages, and so on and so on. "Wild that people might be drawing comparisons! There are literally no signs!"
Google highlighted that but you live your life.
we live in a country where most of the power is controlled by a small group of people.
Do you agree or disagree?
Let me remind you that since 1980 we have had two vice presidents become president, one presidents son become president, for TWO TERMS, and we have had one presidents wife ALMOST get elected president as well.
For the past 50 years, the US has been run by the Bushes or the Clintons (and their friends)
Biden and Trump were both Clinton homies. FFS Trump and Bill used the same drug dealer
I think all these are symptoms not the definition. The best definition I've heard from a historian is 1) seeking and willing to make large changes in policy and government quickly 2) gather popular support regardless of whether the fascist believes in the underlying ideology. e.g. Hitler did not really hate jews when he was trying to get into power 3) applied said changes in an authoritarian and often violent way.
Italian and Nazi fascism for example looked very different both regimes are universally considered fascist.
Assuming that definition Trump only really satisfies condition 2.
trump is a part of the fascist system that is American society
Yeah, trump has no ideology other than trump. But if the fascists surrounding him work to keep him in power then he wont object.
