I think the general perception is that the market = economy but they are fairly untethered. Large amounts of inflation is generally considered a bad thing for the economy but its pretty great for the perception of the market when people can't wrap their head around a checking account let alone macro economics

Personally, I think he's done a stellar job. He actually gets things done and has a conscience. His failure is a lack of charisma. Kinda sad that that's how we elect people but it is what it is.
