Trump’s RNC speech proved again there’s never a ‘New Trump’
As with most things Trump, any shift away from his usual bombast was surface level — at best.

He promised unity. It's up to the Democrats to stop with their attacks and focus on doing their jobs. How disgusting the time and money spent on trying to destroy Trump. Look at all the good the Democrats could have done for this country instead. Fortunately, we are going to get back to America first. No more catch and release of illegals or those who commit crimes. Israel will now have the full support of the US. Illegal campus occupiers will be dealt with quickly and harshly. No more overly taxing our citizens to support the "Green New Scam". Would it be fair to say that most Democrat's would want the candidate to be Biden if it was almost certain that any of their candidates would lose (or alternatively that specifically the only possible replacement would)? Could that be part of the explanation as to why some are sticking with him (rather than their stated reason that he has the best chance to win)?

I think they just see how bad he's polling and are a bit desperate.

As a Canadian, I watched 20-30 mins of the RNC during the week and it was such a complete dumpster fire. First time watching these things too. Trump's first 15 mins with the shooting was pretty good, then it turned to crap pretty quickly and had to turn the TV off.
Will the DNC be about as bad?
I'm sure I could code up a sim for any casino game with any set of rules/variations if I had to. That's how they calculate the odds for casino games anyway, not geniuses like Sklansky scribbling illegible gibberish on a blackboard.
Anyway, even if we're talking about an analytic solution, I wouldn't bet on Sklansky to calculate the odds of a flush hitting in hold 'em, he barely understands how the inclusion-exclusion principle works.

I would say that it is almost never worth your time to watch either party's convention.
